My comment on the cover: Tavi's looking very mid-30s or older for someone who wouldn't even be legal to drink in the States. I noticed this with the last cover, but even more so now. Positively middle-aged.

Go forth and squee over the pretty picture. Oh, and jot down November 24th on your calendars as the day you will descend on your local book seller to procure your copy.

Hi all,

     I'm working on the discovery phases of a new MUSH based on the Codex Alera world!  Code isn't a problem, server space isn't a problem, building isn't a problem and theme isn't a problem. What I'm posting about is specifically:

     Would you play on a Codex Alera MUSH?

     If there's no player interest, then it's probably not worth it! If you're interested, please send me an email at aleramu@gmail.com -- it doesn't have to say much, just "I'm interested". If you want to do more than just play (i.e. be part of the initial theme development or whatever), please let me know that as well.

     As the books are still being published and the theme is still being formed, we're planning on doing the theme fairly early in the scheme of things (before the books & before most of the people in the books). This will also give us some additional flexibility that doesn't otherwise exist.

    In any case, please send me an email so I can figure out whether there's enough initial interest to make a new Alera game worthwhile!

Hello, all and sundry. I've spent the last week working on a survey on geek culture, for the purpose of introducing geekdom as a subculture to a masters class on intercultural communication.

Hi there! I haven't posted here yet, so I'd thought I'd add an intro to this post. I've been a big Jim Butcher fan for a while. Once I finally picked up Furies of Calderon I was hooked on the series, just like The Dresden Files. There are so many good things I could say, but I'll keep this breif.
Last night I spent a few hours creating a bunch of icons including these two:

I'm thinking of making each frame it's own icon. Too much? Either way, I think they're awesome.

Well, my friends list has exploded with posts about LJ going under and backing everything up and all that.

I do not plan on backing up the community, but if there's interest (as I think I've mentioned previously), I WILL start a comm over on InsaneJournal for us. Even if you think it's a good idea for me to just create the comm to hold the name if something happens and we all have to migrate, just let me know.

As of this point, I'm not too worried...I just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

The title for book six was posted on Jim's site today, and as many of us have guessed, or speculated, the title is:

First Lord's Fury

It is due out December 2009. I updated the user info, and I'm off to add it to the interest list.

Ok, the new layout is up. I'm 85% pleased with how the banner turned out, and 40% pleased with the layout itself, so I may go hunting for a layout that I can plop the banner on that will hopefully look better than this one. :)

But for now, it's up, and I believe the links and such are much easier to read than they were with the last layout. Mucho thanks to spark_force and priscellie for getting me the cover art as quickly as you did.

ETA - I also updated the interest list. I'll be adding more, but it requires a re-read, and my copy of FoC is currently elsewhere. I should be getting it back soon.

Ok everyone, scour your hard-drives! Due to my purchasing of a new computer, my other two are in various stages of not-togetherness, and I am currently unable to dig through my Jim Butcher folder and get what I need on my own. Google has become the bane of my existence, so I fall upon your mercy.

What I need: Cover art from all 5 books. Decent size. In an ideal world, I'd like the art for all of them to be the same size. (With title/author listed is perfectly fine).

What I need them for: To revamp the comm and make it all pretty (as much as I like the stripes).
