I bought chocolate velvet coffee grinds a few days ago, and it smelled wonderful, but there was a lack of chocolate taste when it was brewed. Does anyone have any favorite chocolate coffees???

Thanks a bunch!!!

A while back, someone posted about grinding cocoa nibs along with coffee and brewing it that way. I did that this morning and it's great! I highly recommend it. Thanks to whoever suggested it.

My husband and I went to the Melting Pot last week. We had the dark chocolate and it was divine. It's a great place to go just for the chocolate.

To add to the randomness of this post, does anyone have a recipe for yeast bread with chocolate. I've recently gotten into breakmaking and thought it would be fun to try something chocolatey. Maybe something with a swirl...

Thought I'd do a welcome post, as I saw you on the front page and knew I would fit in just fine.

My loves: My honeybunny, coffee, and chocolate. Guess which two I can't survive without on a daily basis? (Hint: look at the community name!)

I love dark, rich coffees, and I love dark, rich chocolates. The best chocolate I've had in a long time is the Chocolove Extra Dark (70% Cacao); I could only eat literally one square at a sitting, because it sent me into spasms of ecstasy.

The best coffee trick I've done lately is when I went to Natural Foods Market and bought some roasted cocoa nibs, and ground those in with my mocha saiani beans. It was so good, it should have been illegal. I cried when I ran out.

I'll go to Starbucks when the mood hits me, but I prefer the concoctions I come up with at home. A long time winner with even my non-coffee drinking friends (I know, I pity them) is my Neopolitan Latte.

Anyway, glad to be here, amongst fello coffee fiends and chocolate fiends alike!

Hi all, Cocoa-mocha lover here. (I'm the kind of person who gets a mocha frappucino with half coffee, half cream base and a shot of peppermint, thus making the Starbucks' barista's life hell) Also love to bake, so thought I'd share my well-loved Chocolate Espresso Pound Cake recipe )with y'all..

Deadly Chocolate Espresso Bars coming soon.

Hey all, I'm a n00b. Seems to be a lot of us around. Anyway, I live in Cali and enjoy my coffee mixed with dark chocolate. Keeps both flavors "pure" so to speak. The Mayan mocha at Java City makes a great dark-chocolate mocha!

Nice to meet you.

Hi everyone-- I LOVE chocolate and espresso, and I love combinations of the two even more! What a great community. It's relaxing to read!

I've been a member for a few days but I thought I would post once I had a great coffee experience. I go to the University of Michigan, and yesterday I stopped by our Java City (usually mediocre) coffee stand for an espresso fix. They have this new drink called the JAVAlanche, which is almost exactly like a frapuccino, except low fat and low in sugar. I ordered a mocha one and had them add a double shot of espresso, as a compromise of my cravings for chocolate and that rich espresso flavor. It... was.... amazing. I guess I just got a good batch of the coffee mixture or something, but this blew any Starbucks drink out of the water. AND-- it kept me jittering around for hours :).

Anyone know any interesting research published on coffee and metabolic rates/ exercise/ kinesthetics? I've been conducting my own research, but I'm interested to see what the scholarship is finding.

My mom used to make this great mocha shake. The Javalanche kind of reminded me of it. I'm not sure exactly what she put in it, but I can approximate:

1 big scoop coffee ice cream
2 T good chocolate syrup (or hot fudge for a special craving)
1 T droste cocoa
generous splash soy milk
2 T espresso
ice as desired

Don't forget the obligatory whipped cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce/ dusting of cocoa. This gets a nice foam on top, and it tastes so rich but can be made relatively healthy and gives you that espresso kick that we all love. Hope you enjoy... :)

Much love from Ann Arbor/Dearborn

Hey guys :) my name's Danie, and I'm new to this Community, thanks to the LJ spotlight on the main page!

I'm a biiiig chocolate fan. I absolutely love it. I also love good coffee [being Italian] - so one of my favorite things to do is brew an espresso, and drop in a gianduiotto [extremely yummy italian chocolates]. Let it melt until it blends w/ the coffee - heavenly stuff. It picks you right up if you're having a lazy/bad day. :]

I also love hanging out at coffee shops. Being an artist, I enjoy the atmosphere. There's a great one in downtown Savannah, GA [where I currently am for college] called the Gallery Espresso. Friendly staff, great coffees; a lovely little cafe' as a whole. I strongly recommend it to anyone who's thinking of coming down our way. :)

Nice to meet you all, take it easy!
