new baby!
Everyone, please welcome my newest addition to the family ^_^

The breeder had just one bird left, and I swear on my life that I'm really sure it's female; her cries sound like my friend's female cockatiel, she has stripes on her tail, she doesn't have a lot of yellow on the face, and she is really quiet and mellow. She loves to sit on my shoulder and rub her beak against my finger. Since she still has about 2 weeks left of hand-feeding, the breeder let me take her since I have experience in hand-feeding, and she gave me some formula too. My other cockatiel, Thaddeus, seems really good with her. He's watched her from a distance and isn't upset, but I'll let her have some time to get used to him and the house before I really introduce them.

Haven't really settled on a name yet; I'm thinking of either Jean Grey, Sunny, or Alexandria.

Oh man, baby tiels are so cute! I like Alexandria as a name; you could shorten it to Alex as a nickname, and if you turn out to be wrong on the gender, it's easy enough to make it masculine. ;)

Yeah, that's one option I had, but dang, I don't recall having trouble naming my other pets. >_<;

with babies you can't tell if they are females or males until they moult for the first time (at about 6 months of age) - until then all babies look like girls.
I suggest Phoenix for a name, since it's a bit more gender-neutral than Jean Grey (and Jean Grey becomes Phoenix later on, should be in the next movie).

Oh my gosh, so cute...;.; *steals!* I love how scruffy and puffy baby tiels look..^____^ The lil bird looks a bit like a female..I don't know, something about their faces differs from their male counterparts ^^

Alexandria is a really pretty name :D

My bird went through 3 different names before we finally settled on Alex. First we named him "buddy", but I thought it was a stupid name, so I put forward "Alex" and it was accepted.

Secretly tho, I chose "Alex" because it's an X-Files reference (Alex Krychek). I also taught him to whistle the X Files theme song... hehehehhee...

Naming the bird is like naming a child! They're stuck with it!!! AHHHH! Good luck on that! ANd your birdy is ADORABLE! *snuggles*
