Opinions please :)
I'm debating on whether or not I should seperate my birds. I have two tiels, one is about 6 the other will turn two in may. (I just realized that & got that proud parent feeling lol) My younger tiel is the boss in the cage and while they don't fight, she/he does push my older tiel around when it comes to perches and which food bowl he wants to eat out of. I plan on getting a larger cage, about 32' and was thinking of keeping my younger tiel in their current cage and just giving the older tiel the larger cage since she never really comes out & the other is out all day.

The reason I'd like to seperate them would be so maybe my older tiel feels more confident to play with any toy he'd like, and just relax without the other one telling him what to do. And I could also work on him to make him feel comfortable comming outside...I will most likely do the seperation, but what do you think?

Also, does Wayne of Waynes Parrot Stuff still make perches and what not? I just checked his ebay store but its empty, anyone have a link to his site? Thanks in advance :)

my tiels are the same way. our first one is almost 10(pebey/pebbs) and our new one is somewhere between 1&2(klinky). klinky chases pebbs and i feel bad for her. whenver we scratch pebbs neck, klinky gets jealous and wants to attack her. we've been thinking about getting another cage so we can seperate them but cages are so expensive...espcially for an unemployed college student :D

I found my second cage at a garage sale. It was only five bucks! A lot of garage sales have bird cages. A word of warning though, be sure you clean and disinfect them super super good and inspect it for any flaws, rust, etc.

I think it's a great idea to separate them! It would most likely do them both some good in bonding with you, and I think your old tiel will feel a lot more relaxed in the "pecking order". Go for it!

You sound like a good mom to your 'tiels. Separating them sounds like a good idea. If you feel uncomfortable with how they interact then how much more does the older cockatiel feel uncomfortable with the situation.

Thanks, once the cage comes I will put the cages next to eachother and if they both don't like the setup I'll put them together.
