Does anyone think this cage is too big for my tiels (i have two) space wise?

I bought one from him before and its still great but I want to upgrade their cage.

[EDIT] So I think I will be getting this cage. I wanted to adopt or buy a parrot but I can't find the conure I'd like (I'm also interested in an African Grey), so I will just spend that money on my tiels.

I think 3/4 inch bar spacing could be fine. What do they have now? It's a nice looking cage too.

i went back and looked at the auction closer - 3/4 bar spacing is indeed fine!!

(i also went and referenced my handy dandy cockatiels for dummies book to make sure :)

so i think that cage is FANTASTIC for 2 tiels!!

I don't think "too big" is ever much of a problem for a 'tiel. They seem to enjoy as much space as they can get.

"Too big" is definitely not an issue. Cockatiels for Dummies also mentions getting the largest cage you can afford. They will LOVE it!

I remember buying our current cage and being asked what kind of bird was going in. When I said "one cockatiel" (he's the only one we had at the time), the employees helping me were quite impressed. Our two don't seem to mind the space.

Thanks & I have to pick up that book, is there a lot of info in there beyond the basics?

Though it seems to be geared more towards first-time tiel owners and is mostly basic information, I still find a lot of good information in it.

My sun conure (who isn't much larger than a large 'tiel) has a cage a little bigger than that -- 34 by 24 with 3/4" bar spacing.

It's an excellent size for more than one cockatiel.

Also, how large are Theo & Buffy's cages?

Theo's cage (B&G macaw) is 4' wide, 3' deep, 6.5' tall.

Buffy's cage (blue fronted Amazon) is 38" wide, 28" deep, about 5.5 feet tall.

Our grey's cage is the same size as Buffy's. (It is, in fact, the same brand of cage).

I have that cage and I love it.

My birds have a bit of trouble sometimes when they walk on the bottom, but otherwise it works well. The cups that come with it are a bit deeper than I like - I'm still looking for something else, but haven't found anything yet.

My bird has problems too walking on bars that far apart, what do you think about putting some kind of wood down on the base? My only issue is what wood is and is not toxic for birds (in terms of the stuff it's been treated with)?
It's all so confusing sometimes.

you could try putting newspaper on half of the bottom of the cage, that way they can walk around, but you won't have to worry about droppings.
