Time for a bit of pimping XD
So, a very good friend of mine is an extremely talented artist. She recently asked people on her flist if they would like to commission her to compose any paintings (electronic) for them (for a small fee). I was one of several who took her up on the offer. I've wanted a painting of my three girls together for quite sometime... and [info]snapekisser has made that dream a reality (yes, I know that sounds cheesy lol).
Anywho, here is the result:

Isn't she good?! That's Bella in the front, Seeker in the middle, and Snitch in the back. Anyway, I wanted to show the picture off (she's sending me a high quality print of it as well) to all of you. She's still taking requests, if anyone is interested. All you'd have to do is contact her at her livejournal (yet again, that would be [info]snapekisser).

If this is a bit too much pimping for the mods, I shall delete it. :D

X-Posted to several other places (including my personal journal)... sorry if you see it more than once!

intersting....and no one asks me for art?

its "good", but if she wants to become a professional pet portraist she'll need a lot more training. There are pet painters who do work that puts photographs to shame, and you won't get away buying anything under $200 from them.

anway it has no lightsourse. I always pain myself tryng to use lightsorces, and I hate it when thouse who don't get praise? why because the're "that good" they don't need to make sure that their background isn't a warm color, or that they colored somthing they way it should look with a sunset, or by putting a shadow. nothing.
why do -i- need to? because i'm a lowly "student"?

trust me, I'm suppose to be "an artist". I've only done one painting of cockitiels and they came out wonky, I took a fantasy turn and made 'elemental" 'tiels. don't ask why purple is "the wind one". Purple in my world has been "wind" for 7 years..

don't take this the wrong way, but really. If you are getting somthing, you should get quality. Thats why I never get many commissions outside of the rare "design me a character".
maybe that'll change seeing as how I'm "published"

Maybe - rather than inflicting your own opinion of art on others - you should realize that people view things differently, and what may be junk to you is not to somebody else.

It's my opinion...but, as an "artist" you're supposed to know that art is subjective. Maybe some "pet owners" dont want "a painting that puts photographs to shame". Just because the painting lacks the technique that you claim it should have does not mean it isn't "quality"

There are many paintings which are considered works of art that dont have lightsource, movement, perspective, leading lines or even a comprehensive composition, but that does not make them "good". That is the beauty of art. We are past the age of Enlightnment, impressionism, dada, surrealism and even modernism, "GREAT" art can be whatever someone thinks it is.

But if you believe that better-than-good art must be technical then that is your opinion and you are entitled to that, but you should state that as an opinion, not fact.

*sigh*

My friend is an amateur. That much I will admit. She just does stuff like this side projects. And she needed the money, so I decided to help her out. I'm more than happy with the results. I agree with what everyone else has said to you. If I am getting something, I would rather support a friend in doing what she loves, than buy something from someone who has the sort of attitude that you do. Don't take this the wrong way, but you sound extremely bitter.

And here comes the clique... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
