I took a self-proclaimed snow day from classes today, and this is my regular day off of work so instead of finishing all of my final projects for school, I played with Spike. Well, it's only 2:00, I guess there's still hope I might be productive today, other than take cute pictures.

FOOF

fluffly butt

happily eating a Nutri-berry on his play stand

but then he walked to the next dish and there was nothing in there

he's still adorable though :o)

!!! I LOVE HIM! He looks just like my Blue except Blue has a white patch on the back of his head. So adorable!

Yeah a breeder told me he might have whiteface in him? I'm not all down with that breeding stuff, but my parakeets have had a clutch before.

Sorry about the delete and re-comment, things are being wonky.

I don't know too much about breeding and genetics, that's just something I picked up from a few cockatiel books. It could be whiteface, I just figured lutino since it's much more common.

I also have a whiteface tiel. They're both boys though and Blue was already rather bonded to me when Malibu came along. So poor Malibu kinda stays to himself and sings while Blue follows me everywhere.

That means Blue is recessive lutino :o) He's cute, I like his short little crest.

Actually, I believe it means that Blue is `split to pied.` He carries the pied gene.
Split to lutino looks just like a normal grey.

Awwww the tiel that I had when I was young was named Spike!
(Actually it was changed to Spikette when she was about 7 b/c we assumed that she was male until she laid one and only 1 egg)
