Busy cage for my busy boy
Both his wings are now clipped. Thanks all for your guidance.

He has so much to do when I'm not home. He has cuttle fish and fruit and foot (claw?) toys and noisy things. I am still undecided on a mirror. He's never alone long enough to have to amuse himself I guess.
He loves his view over the back yard :)

Looks like fun to me.
I would try to phase out one or both dowel perches over time. If you know of a pesticide free source for a safe species of wood you can even do it for free. If not, you can buy perches at the store. Varied widths and textures is vital to good foot health.

He`d also love a few more chewables, I bet. You can use things like plain white paper, unscented tissue and toilet paper, plain black and white newsprint, etc... to weave in and out of bars. Corn husks from the Mexican food aisle, balse wood and popscicle sticks are other cheap chewing options. You can spice homemade toys up with a little color by using plastic beads or plastic lanyard strings (some birds love untying knots).

Yeah... I keep meaning to get out and about in the backyard and have a poke around... I will be replacing them soon :)

I have two dowel perches in each of my girls' cages. However, I also have branch perches, rope perches, and a trimmer perch. I try to make sure that they are all of varying sizes so that (as you said), their feet get plenty of "exercise". They prefer to stand on the other perches anyway.

Bella loves the wooden toys that she can destroy within a day or so. Those seem to be her favorite. She also loves this toy that has little calcium chewable things on it. Oh, and they each have a birdie pacifier. They destroy those things. *wg*

Lookin very good! My birds love those rope perches, I need to pick up another one myself. They're nice and user friendly, just be sure to cut any loose strings so they don't get caught on little claws!
