A new bird is destined to join our family! When I awoke to the words, "Let's go look at birds", I shot up in excitement. We have been playing with the idea of getting a second cockatiel. Today that thought was magically turned into a decision. We went to our favourite Pet Store, Primarily Pets. The man that owns this store is a nutter, like most bird people seem to be. He deals mainly with birds. I love visiting that store, though to this date the only items I have purchased there are old issues of bird magazines, including BirdTalk, that he sells 50 cents a copy. We spent over an hour at the store, simply standing in front of the birds and being happy. He has an electus there, that he has had for years, who is a plucker.. but she has definately been looking better and better every time I go on. She is an amusinglittle girl, and like watching us, even offering friendly hellos and his. Beside her, a green cheek amazon also gave us a happy hello. They beautiful Timneh Grey Just watched us like a hawk. A quaker didn't even seemed to notice our presence as he preened himself. All of these birds happily and obediently (I've never seen them disobey their boundaries) sat ontop of their cages. A small Cockatoo (I don't know my cockatoo species but this cockatoo is so small.. I've always pictured cockatoos as huge birds, wow) made loud ruckus until the Store Man went to get him and let him sit on his shoulder as he chatted with us. In other cages, two lovebirds snuggled ontop of their happyhut. A handful of finches dazzled me with their songs. Budgies snuggled eachother letting one rambunctious budgie of the bunch entertained them with his chirps. And last but DEFINETLE not least.. the two baby cockatiels. Approximatly 10 weeks old, these babies own my heart. Stefan and I have yet to decide which of the darling is to become part of our family, but one of them is coming home with us on Thursday. We kind hope one of them gets bought before that time, just so we don't have to choose. heh. I am so happy. I have to get a cage ready for the new bird, though eventually I hope that Smeagol and the new bird will like eachother enough to share a cage, but we'll see what happens when it happens. I am elated.
