[29 Aug 2009|10:54am] remorseful If you hadn't updated your LJ in over a year I took you off my friends list. I got tired of having this amazingly long friends list full of people who never update. If any of you deleted people ever come back to LJ (doubtful, I know), let me know and I'll add you back. This also means, of course, if you haven't updated your LJ in like.. 10 months, it's very likely that you'll be deleted soon. heaven, grace and eternal life and God's love [24 Aug 2008|06:25pm] sicend_goth so people have different views and beliefs as far as what happens after death and how one achieves to get to heaven. A lot of them believe to get to heaven one has to be a good person by performing good works in order to make it As it's been said or i've heard before is religion is mans attempt to reach God while Christianity is God reaching out to man. Satan lies and deceives people into believing these things because he doesn't want people to the truth, the way and the life... Which Jesus states that he is. He wants to take as many people as he can down with him. As long as the choose to believe anything but the truth and live their lives how they see fit then he'll succeed in his place to destroy as many as possible. That's why there's the belief of reincarnation, past lives or that the is no life after death. The truth is, yes there is a life after death. A eternal one and only 2 places of destination depending on how one choices to live their life. By either accepting the God's free gift or rejecting it. One is spend eternity with Jesus in his glorious kingdom or spend it seperated from your maker. he will say "Depart from me, I never knew you." Meaning "You were given a chance to come live with me, to accept my free gift but you chose to ignore it, and push it away and say 'Thanks but no thanks I believe i can manage on my own, I don't need you to help me nor do I want to surrender my life to you.' You never gave me the chance to be a part of your life, to have a close and personal relationship with you." You only get one go at this people, it either now or never. Please don't put it off till later because there may never be a later. God is life, our life support (so to speak) he holds everything together. When one's time is up, it's up there are now second chances at life. Saved by Grace 'This is a hard concept for even Christians to even imagine at times (not out of doubt but an incredible to imagine) that the God of the universe who created you, me, and everything f/ all living creatures, the heavens, the sea took on the form of man and decided to become one of us for the sake of rescuing us from a road to self destruction, ruin and death. Pretty much the Bible's message is "Repent," (a U-turn of one life style a part from Christ) "...for the kingdom of heaven is near!" Jesus set aside all his power, the become a humble servant, to save wretched, lost sinner and show them the way to a new and better life, through believing in him as the Savior of the universe, the son of God and not just but that he was God in the flesh. Christ loved man kind so much that he willingly paid the price of death and God's wrath so that whoever believes in him will be saved from what we all rightfully deserve. So as Christians, because of Jesus sacrifice we now stand before God clean, pure and righteous... we traded spots with Christ. Christ lived a perfect and sinless life... while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. So now it's as if we lived the perfect, sinless life and Christ took and paid the price of punishment for our sins. A great illustration that my pastor shared was we were once drowning in sin, be swept and tossed around by the corruption and influence of this world and someone took notice of our distress, how lost we were and decided to come down show compassion by helping us out and showing us the way to life and traded us spots so we might have a chance and opportunity to live, if one choose to believe, confess, repent, accept and re dedicate. Christ through us the life preserver (as it were of eternal life) saying "Be saved and come be with me into my family and I will guide you and take care of you!" This rules out good works get you to Heaven, someone took care of that for you so you don't have to... now the good works is in the name of Christ, out of compassion for others as showing them what Christ did for them by stepping in and saving them from Hell. How can one try to take credit for a free gift that someone generously gave to them... with love, forgiveness, grace and mercy? It would be unnessacary and no need for it, it's been paid for. Now because we have been saved by grace that' doesn't mean (as Christians) we have a free license to go do w/e want now. That would be absurd! If you were drowning at sea and someone rescued you from death, why would you want to turn around and jump back in the water? post comment
