12:48 am - Update on the N64 party

timespacemage
OK, the date's been changed to next Monday, 6:30 to 8:00. Tell everyone you know or I'll beat you down with this empty plastic bottle =0
It turns out Jake "got to talk to a hot girl" and went to buy a costume and sing karaoke with her, so he messed up. It's OK though because nobody showed up anyway. AGAIN v.v

Yes, so hopefully this will be enough time to let people know about it. Come and play Mario Kart and Smash Brothers with us!

5:32 am - Smash Bros get-together! (N64)

timespacemage
Just as a reminder from what I mentioned on Tuesday's meeting, this evening we're going to be playing Super Smash Bros! Everyone's welcome to come of course; I'm teaching my floor how to play the game (since they have every N64 game except Smash) so don't worry about being left in the dust or having to deal with formal rules. They also have Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye!

If you're interested in coming and can think of a good excuse to get out of wherever else you needed to be, we're starting around 6:30 PM in South Yeater room 022. The dorm is across the street from visitor parking, near the bowling alley. Just go down the stairs, hang a left and head past the water fountain until you see a doormat. Jake (our CA) is really cool, so none of that being nervous about coming to other people's rooms.

I posted this on the main website too, though apparently someone needs to review it before it can be seen =P
Today was really hectic, otherwise I would've gotten the post up here earlier.

2:49 pm - Uhhhhmm....The Webiste?

martheev
I hope someones still checking this group every once in a while. *crosses fingers*

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble accessing our website? Ive been trying to get on there for the last few days (four or five i think) and it keeps giving me an internal service error. One time a page came up asking me to install something. Is that something new with the webiste ill have to do before being able to get to it? I missed the club meeting this last tuesday because of my mothers birthday (who i wasnt able to call anyway because she didnt have signal up north!) and the Veronica Mars season premiere, so im sorry if any info was given out on this already.

Hoping the site will come back to me soon. :(

7:50 am - Spirited Killer

philipdmgice
Well, I picked up a copy of "Spirited Killer" for $11. It's apparently an older movie with a 4 in it's title that has Tony Jaa in it. It pretty much is an unending fight between some villagers against a voodoo guy and his zombie. In short, it's like a bad movie with good fight choreography. The movie has some stupidly entertaining aspects to it and some rather bad film quality. The parts where the characters are developed do not matter at all and come off as annoying or just so stupid you have to like it. Especially the mute guy. He's pretty awesome. The only real point to this movie is that it has a lot of decent little fights in it. If you like old Chinese Kung Fu flicks.. then you already know what this is. It's a Muay Thai flick. Lots of old style choereography here. The film is a watch a few times with friends, maybe MST it a little. It was made with no budget, in fact, it feels like a student film made to showcase a few martial arts.

The presentation is really kinda interesting. You have a *really* nice package with borrowed graphics from other films (YES! STEALING FTW!) and a disc full of extras that do not have anything to do with the movie. A few that are supposedly about how cinema in Thailand has grown. Essentially it is hosted by some G4 reject I want to punch in the face. He talks a bit, then shows clips from dozens of Thai produced films WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF WHAT THEY ARE. Follow that with some weird shakey cam footage of various Ong Bok and Tom Yum Goong related press events and you have something that has NOTHING TO DO with ANYTHING related to the movie. Awesome. The best part is a press event demonstration of Muay Thai by Tony Jaa. Actually, the only thing that hurts that is the guy with the camera doesn't know when to SHUT HIS FACE.

Completely worth the $11; but don't buy it. Just borrow it. I've got a copy. Should make for some fun entertainment.

This is mainly a reminder to everyone, party at my place tomorrow night, about 7ish.

My appt is on 506(?) W 10th Street. If you take I70 to Broadway, you're close, drive North another three miles or so. Alternately, I 35 swings by my neighborhood as it esses E-W by the Missouri River, before straightening to N-S again and crossing the river.

I recomend online directions, as they are more reliable than myself. Find the intersection of Pennsylvania and 10th Street, and you're twenty feet from my appartment.

I'm still coming to the Burg to get Steve, Seffy, and Christine tomorrow. Anyone else I'm getting while I'm there? EVERYONE is welcome, so just cause I didn't mention you by name, don't feel excluded.

spdk1
(This is the same as what is under Recent News. This post is for record purposes and if an officer needs to change the recent news column before the next meeting. )

8/29/06
Tuesday was our First Meeting For Anime Club 2006. ^_^
The meeting started off with the introduction of the officers which you can find on the right hand side of the facebook group. Following that all club members introduced themselves and announced their favorite animes and their major. 0.o A small skit was put together to introduce new members to dues. It's only $5 for unlimited Anime Rentals!!! Not to mention the money goes towards our Incredibly AWESOME Parties!

The first showing was Desert Punk -
A miniature Mercenery keeps the thugs of the desert inline until he is thrown off guard by an extremely beautiful woman with "assets".

Next week we will be watching Appleseed. Hope to see everyone there!

5:04 pm - CMSU Involvement Fair

nny_27
To all those who have been lazy or absent this summer, I will remind you that the CMSU Involvement Fair is Wed. 24 from 3-5pm and I am in desperate need to know who is going to attend to help me watch the table. I can't do it on my own! Not to mention I have class in the middle of it so it's required that I LEAVE for a short while. I will also remind all current officers that you are required to sit at the table for at least one of the two hours...

I also need stuff to make our table 'shiny'. According to the email I received we need to start setting up the table around 2:30ish to be ready at 3 to open up to the public.

So please, please PLEASE respond to this if and when you can help the CMSU anime club out with stuff to put on the table, sitting at the table, or running errands for those of us sitting...

Remember, I can't do this all on my own! I need the support of the club to represent us in the best possible light!

Thanks,
Christine

1:47 am - email I got about the involvement fair

spdk1
Hi All!

What an amazing response we have had in regards to tables for the
Involvement Fair! I am looking forward to seeing you all on the 23rd!

Just a few reminders:

1. You can begin to check in at 2:15 on the 23rd to ensure your table
is set by 3:00.
2. Please have plenty of items for your tables! This is the
organizations opportunity to showcase your student organization to the
entire campus community!
3. If you requested an electrical outlet, you will be near one!
4. If your organization would like to donate a door prize (i.e. a
t-shirt, gift certificate, waiver of fees, etc., please let me know as
soon as possible, as we will be giving away door prizes to attendees)!

Let me know if you have any questions! I look forward to seeing you all
in about a week! The new students will be here soon!

1:50 pm - Just a few more days...

animea321
I can't wait until school starts again and Anime club starts again. I've been working at an internship and my other job all summer and have had no human contact. Yay! Don't forget to show up at the involvement fair. Christine's going to help me make a kimono like hers and hopefully, if I can find a hakama soon enough I can change it into a girls kendo outfit. (like back in the early 1900's when girls were first allowed to wear hakamas. Sooo excited!)

So... I've been holding onto these tapes for about 2 years now. 8P

I've decided this is my 5 day notice: If anyone wants them, claim them in the next 5 days, cause otherwise I'm gonna chuck 'em on Friday.
