As another year draws to a close, it's nice to curl up with some of the best Criminal Minds fanfiction the year had to offer. Yes, it's the return of the 2009 Criminal Minds Fan Fic Awards (CMFFA's)! A way of celebrating the very best fiction in our ever-growing fandom, as well as the authors who lovingly write it.



Starting on January 8th, 2010, nominations will be open. Readers will submit a nomination form of their favourite fics, which will then be compiled into a list. The nomination period will end at 11:59pmEST January 22, 2010. The nomination list will be posted on January 24, 2010, along with links to each fic. Now, the real fun begins!

Voters will have until 11:59pm EST February 21st, 2010, to read as many of the fics as they wish and submit their voting form. Winners will be announced as soon as possible, and a 'Winner's List' compiled of the very best fanfics 2009 had to offer! Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category (assuming, of course, that there are three or more nominations per category).



So, why would anyone want to win this award? Well, those of you who were with us last year know that authors who place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any category will receive:

1) A nifty CMFFA Winner certificate banner, clearly demarking you as a writer of awesomeness and an inspiration to us all!

2) Eternal bragging rights at having won in the second annual Criminal Minds Fan Fic Awards!! (I know - it's too awesome for words, right?)

*Remember, even if you don't win in your category, you still get to boast that you were nominated!



All nominated fics will be checked for their validity in the chosen category (e.g., whether or not they actually qualify). Once a nomination has been submitted, the nominated author will be notified and asked to approve their nomination in the competition. If their fic is posted under a 'friends only' journal, it will be requested that they unlock the fic for the duration of the competition. In the end, it is up to the author of the fic whether or not they wish to do this and whether and have their work featured in the competition. If an author refuses your nomination, you will not receive another chance to nominate for that category. Sorry.



The nomination period begins on January 8, 2010. A nomination ballot will be posted, along with instructions and rules for submitting. You will have until 11:59pm EST, January 22, 2010, to submit your nomination ballot through the supplied method (no ballots will be accepted after this time). If you or your fic is nominated, a message will be sent to you through the most appropriate method (LJ message, email, ff.net PM, etc), and instructions will be provided for accepting your nomination.

Don't feel like submitting a bunch of nominations? No problem - you can still participate in the voting period! On January 24, 2010, a list of all nominated fics will be posted, along with links to each fic. Voters will have until 11:59pm EST, February 21st, 2010, to read the nominated fics and submit their voting ballot through the supplied method (no ballots will be accepted after this time). The votes will be tallied, and a 'Winner's List' will be posted shortly thereafter!

So, fire up your laptop and dust off your Favourites and Memories lists! The nomination period begins shortly!

***As mentioned, I want this competition to be open to as many people as possible, so please help spread the word to any fellow CM fandom-ers you think would be interested. It is especially hard for me to get the word out to writers/readers on fanfiction.net, so if you can informa a few of your friends on there, that would be terrific! The more people who get involved, the more fun this will be!***
