| Name: | 1000 Words A Week | |
| About: | This is a community for those of us who keep saying, "I should write". . . and never do, whether out of time constraints, brain freeze or - our favorite and the most prevalent - sheer laziness. We want to change that phrase to "I AM writing." So, here's the challenge. Write 1000 words a week. This is under 200 words a day - even the busiest and laziest of us should be able to do this. The rules? 1. You must be writing original fiction. No nonfiction or fanfiction. If you want to go verse-style, it must be a long narrative poem. 2. You don't have to work on the same story every week, but your 1000 words for the week must all be in the same story. For example, I could write a thousand words in Story A this week and a thousand in Story B next week, but could not write 200 words for A and 800 for B this week and say "that's my thousand for the week". 3. The challenge begins every week on Monday and ends on the following Sunday. 4. Every week, if you made the 1000 - POST! Give us your new overall word count and your new word count for the week, along with the starting and ending dates for that week. If you wish, post excerpts or story and character information. (A hint: if the excerpts are over a hundred or so words long, please lj-cut them so our friends lists don't die! Also, if there is any material so sexual, violent, or offensive as to be construed as a high R or NC-17 rating, please cut it as well.) Also, if you are posting excerpts, plz dun rite lik dis!!!11 Do at least a minimal spelling and grammar check. 5. This community is open to all types of literature - including experimental, erotic, and gay fiction. You flame, you're on the Bad List. Offend twice and you're gone - and we WILL ridicule you. Our mods can be vicious! 6. We're holding you to an honor code here. Although there are no prizes for completing the challenge, there is the satisfaction and prestige of actually doing the damn thing. Hence, do not lie about your word count or your completion of the challenge. Once again, if we somehow find out you are cheating, we WILL ridicule you. Also remember: we'll be keeping track of who completes the task each week! And also remember - need tips or tricks on how to keep focus, or got a few to share? Make a post. If you have any questions, post or contact our mods, | |
