January 17, 1922 the ESS Reed took flight from its besieged homeport. On board the ship a multitude of refugees mulled about impatiently as they waited to get news from home. The war between Askhew and Mehreik had always been an abstract to these people, not something that could take their homes away.
But such is life.
As it turns out about 42 of the ships crew and passengers would bear witness to events that would change everything they believed was right. Some would say they have the potential to change the world. Now if only they could find someone who knew exactly what was going on.

Interested? I know I am.
Of course I wrote the damn thing so it better be interesting to at least me.
Want to know more about CWD? Well, in short it’s a Post-steampunk (Think 1910-1945) roleplay and community.
If that type of thing is your bag, I suggest you learn more at the the newbie guide over at the
ionot_codex.
Or if you just want to observe, you can find all the necessary reading at the
ionot_codex and the community itself,
clockwork_demon.
---------The Rules ---------
1. If lame parents knew about cool things like CWD they would tell their children, “Clockwork Demon is a privilege, not a right”. And as your arguably cool admin, I’m reminding you that this is true. First and foremost this is a story to be enjoyed. If you start assing up the place by breaking these rules, I will mercilessly get rid of you.
2. This is a novelistic roleplay. In non pretentious speak that means that it should read like a book. That means no actions in asterixes (*laughs*), no chat speak in character (lol), and especially no chat speak contained by asterixes (*lol*)
3. Nothing benefits your writing more than reading. I’m not asking you to read War and Peace, I’m not even asking you to read all of Clockwork Demon. Just do enough reading to know what’s going on before submitting a bio, let alone posting. What I’m trying to say here is “lurk more”.
4. That reading includes the newbie guide. Which defines how you should go about your business in CWD. Going against what is told in the newbie guide will be treated as breaking the rules.
5. Follow the rules of good roleplaying. There are tonnes of guides for this on the wonderful internet of ours. Most of these pertain to fighting, which will probably happen. That being said, there are two particular guidelines that cannot be stressed enough:
-Don’t be invincible, also known as godmoding. Despite the flying ships and magic this is a fairly realistic roleplay. A bullet to the head stops most people, and it will do the same to you.
-Don’t go around killing other people’s characters for shits and giggles. If a character has to die, make sure both parties agree on what’s happening.
-You’re not awesome at everything, your character will fail some tasks. If you just happen to be awesome at everything and you roleplay your character that way, congratulations, you a not awesome at roleplaying.
-Make sure your character acts like your character. Nuff said.
-Don’t go playing other people’s characters. That’s their job. The most you can say is “I try and trip you” it’s up to them to say “I fall”.
-Respect the post order. Give everyone a chance to react to your action before you make your next move.
6. For the love of God. Tell me if you’re not going to be able to post for awhile, that way you don’t trap other people in post order limbo.
7. Report any tomfoolery, shenanigans or fuckwad-ery by either e-mailing clockwork.admin[AT]gmail.com or sending an AIM message to CWD Report. This doesn’t mean I’m anti tomfoolery, just don’t do it where people are roleplaying.
8. Enjoy yourself. CWD should only seem like a chore to me, and if you’re not enjoying it I’ve failed you. So if there’s something you don’t like talk to me about it. clockwork.admin[AT]gmail.com, remember it.
One last thing. Check the development journal,
clockwork_admin, for news and extra fun.

Special thanks goes out to: Gino, Cai, Monty, Cameron, Clint, Ben, Ashton and Charlie. You guys rock.
The rockin map was made by Cai.
The rockin layouts will hopefully soon be made by Ashton.
I’m sure someone is gonna help me with the logo, so their spot is reserved here.
