About

The Setting

Somewhere out there, in a rift between dimensions, where the boundaries between worlds and universes are weak and the laws of time and space are different, stands Clockwise Town. It is a special place. Nobody knows how or why it was built. It is a world of its own, with its own inhabitants and rules, where incredible things happen and all kinds of people end up meeting each other.

Because of its location, Clockwise has a peculiar streak to it. Every once in a while, doors open within it. These doors are different in form, but not in purpose. All of them lead to different worlds, giving people from those worlds access to the town. Sometimes, the doors stay around so people can come and go as they wish. Sometimes, they close, leaving people stranded in Clockwise for a long, long time. In both cases, it only means one thing. More and more people and events find themselves in Clockwise Town.

Character Rules

Clockwise Town allows chars from any medium and work in existence. Anime, books, comics, movies, video games, if you want to play it, go ahead and do so. There is no preference for one medium over another. Original characters are also allowed. There is no limit, so you can play as many as you wish, provided you can keep up with all of them.

Alternate Universe versions are acceptable. This means multiple people can play different versions of the same char, explanation being that they come from different universes. There is no limit on the number of AU versions of the same char.

If you wish, you can also bring chars from other RP communities into this game. Did your previous RP die and you wish to continue playing the char without losing the progress you made? Feel free to play them here. Do you feel like posting your char somewhere beyond their usual comm? You're free to do that, too. It's also your choice whether you bring events from Clockwise Town to other communities or not.

One final note is that we have spoiler limitations. If you want to play a char from a recently released product or if something happened in their ongoing series that affects your char's status - whatever you do with that character must be put behind an lj-cut and clearly marked as spoilers for whichever book, movie, or whatever they're from. Otherwise, you will receive a warning.

The spoiler rule wears out 30 days after the product's release, no exceptions.

Posting and Plotting Requirements

We are a very laid-back community. We don't have strict posting requirements because we realize roleplaying is for fun and real life takes priority. Thus, if you post rarely or slowly, we... Won't do anything.

Keep in mind, however, that some players prefer faster development in RP. Also, don't sign up for events if you have no time to spend on them. Don't stall the game and ruin others' fun because that's just mean, and people will be sad.

Also, while Clockwise is heavy on events and storytelling, all of them are option. You are not obligated to participate in anything. All you're expected to do is have fun.

Rules for Play

Clockwise Town operates on a policy of three warnings. Every time you deliberately break a rule on this community, you are given a warning and e-mailed an explanation of what you did wrong. If you go up to three warnings, however, you are banned from this community. If this stage is reached, we ban by IP, not by journal, because you obviously don't know how to behave yourself.

We may choose to ban a journal instantly if it's obviously a troll journal. Also, we may choose to remove the warning from you if it's obvious that you didn't intend any harm with your actions and showed willingness in fixing the situation.

Among things that can end up in a warning:

1.Don't be a jackass.
Do onto others like you'd like to be done onto you. It's not hard to grasp this. While we understand that people on the moderator team realize that nobody is capable of being civil all the time, we still request that you act courteous and considerate to each other. If you have a disagreement and can't sort things out between each other, bring it up with the mods and we'll do our best to help you fix the situation. Try to not hurt each other's feelings and remember that if something happens, we're here for you.

However, if you repeatedly go out of your way to be rude to other people, either directly or by godmodding, trolling or other dubious methods, we will show up and pacify you with chairs, baseball bats and chainsaws.

2.IC =/= OOC.
The point of roleplaying is playing pretend for fun. If you're not happy with your current RP situation, come to other players and ask for help. There will always be people willing to play with you and help you have fun.

Never, ever bring your discontent into RP. Do not use OOC knowledge IC, godmode, avoid IC consequences for petty reasons or get offended over otherwise IC actions... And, for god's sake, never use your character as a mouthpiece. If we see you doing that, we'll take all those bricks from the fourth wall you broke and throw them at you.

3.Cliques are an eyesore.
There is nothing worse in RP than a disjointed RP. Having friends is good, but if having friends makes you separate yourself into private bubbles, alienate other players and mistreat them for not being in your circle of friends, we're gonna have words. And if you keep disrupting the situation in the RP, we're gonna load you in a rocket and launch in you space.

4.We are rated T for Teen!
We understand that for various reasons, RP can lead toward situations with potentially risky content that shouldn't be accessible for minors. However, we'd like such content to stay off the board for the sake of not alienating younger or more sensitive players. For that reason, we're rating the main board T by ESRB standards.

This means that among content, we allow violence and blood, suggestive and potentially controversial themes, crude humor and limited use of strong language. We do not allow any explicit portrayal of something that would be unsuitable to minors, such as explicit gore or sexuality, or openly controversial content.

If you feel like your post needs or could lead to anything potentially controversial, we request that you label it as such, so people who do not wish to witness such content, can easily avoid it. However, since we hold ourselves responsible for the board's content, we might request you to move the thread to a personal journal if we feel its content is too risky for this community.

That is all. We hope you'll have lots of fun on this board.
