Do you have a website for your book? How did you handle setting it up?

Part 2 of 4

Ruth McNally Barshaw, ELLIE McDOODLE, Bloomsbury May 2007

I created my first website for my art and writing ten years ago.
It's a work in progress and I tweak it constantly.

Here's what I have so far, besides my art and info about the ELLIE McDOODLE book:
- a sketchblog of adventures with my 9 year old daughter (my book's Ellie is 11)
- free downloads with more coming soon
- a Famous Authors Series -- sketches of 33+ famous authors doing school visits.
- sketchbooks of my trips to the SCBWI National Conferences in NYC
- frequently-asked questions by kids and advice for other writers
- school visit information

Coming soon: A teacher's guide and reviews
Here's my website: http://ruthexpress.com

Joni Sensel, REALITY LEAK, Henry Holt, Spring 2007

My author website at www.jonisensel.com includes a separate page for each book, with information about what inspired it. As they come in, I'll add reviews (no promises to post any bad ones!). I have parents' guides to my picture books available for download, and once REALITY LEAK is out, I'll be adding perks for readers, such as I.I.I.I.I. membership cards. I'd like to use the book's secret code tie-in to run a reader contest, too, but we'll see if I can pull that off.

I'm learning HTML so I can maintain the site myself, and it's kind of addictive. Revisions to websites are much more fun, IMO, than revisions to manuscripts!

Tiffany Trent, IN THE SERPENT'S COILS, Fall 2007

My Web site is under construction at www.tiffany-trent.com.  Theo Black, the amazingly talented illustrator and graphic designer (and husband of Holly Black) is my Webmaster.

Mirrorstone will also be building a Hallowmere Web site for the book series, which will include all kinds of goodies that I can hopefully discuss in more detail later.  Right now, we're just brainstorming, but I have to say--the ideas are pretty darn cool.

Sarah Beth Durst, INTO THE WILD, Razorbill/Penguin, June 2007

Yes -- http://www.sarahbethdurst.com

It's been really fun to have a website.  I've also started a blog (http://sarahbethdurst.blogspot.com) and a MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/sarahbethdurst).  I've met a whole bunch of really cool people through my sites, and I'm hoping to meet lots more.  (Hint, hint -- if I haven't met you yet, come say hi!)
