6th-Sep-2008 08:49 pm - help finding an episode / story?
Doctor Who - Jo #1
OK i've just finished watching all the 3rd doctor episodes in a burst over a week, and bloody marvellous it was too.

anyway a friend of mine asked me to look out for an episode where Jon Pertwee was being psychologically tortured and at one point imagined he was drowning.

trouble is that despite having seen them i don't recall any episode where that even remotely occurs.

did i miss it or IS my friend the one who's hallucinating?

any help is appreciated and thanked in advance :)

9th-Jun-2008 08:17 pm - What story is this?
Two playing recorder (b&w profile)
Greetings fellow classic series fans. I'm looking for a Doctor Who story, but I haven't seen it in probably two decades and I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. This is my dad's favorite story and I'm hoping to find it for him.

Perhaps this will ring a bell with someone well acquainted with the Tom Baker era, as this is one of his stories. All I remember is that someone (the Master, maybe?) was playing a kind of mind game with the Doctor. The Doctor was out in a jungle and at one point was tied to a railroad track. I also seem to remember someone blowing poison darts at him, or something along those lines.

After reading some synopses looking for this, it appears that the closest story is The Deadly Assassin. Can anyone confirm this for me, please? Like I said, I only remember those two scenes from long ago, and the rest of the synopsis I read didn't sound like anything else I remembered at all.

[info]dw_cross sign ups close in five days.

[info]dw_cross is a Doctor Who crossover ficathon. Surely the Brigadier has come across some strange things in his time, besides just a Time Lord or two. Seven and Sherlock Holmes teamed up in one of the spinoff books; why not a few more mysterious mysteries? Sign ups are here.

[info]dw_cross, a Doctor Who crossover ficathon, has opened sign ups for the 2nd Annual Ficathon.

Need to see Four and Romana encounter Ford Prefect? What about the Brigadier and the cast of Stargate: Atlantis? Claire Bennett and Nyssa? Then [info]dw_cross is where to go.

Dr. Who - SJS Old Skool
I've finally managed to see some of the First Doctor serials, and have developed a mad, OTP love for Ian & Barbara. They started off sort of frantic and annoying, but rapidly grew to characters I loved, separately and as a couple. Nothing else to say right now--just wanted to express my squee at these two characters, and my joy that the first Doctor serials are so much better than I dared hope for (given the era they were made in).

Doctor Who - Art Criticism
Several people have expressed interest in an organized watch (or rewatch, as the case may be) of all of the Romana serials. Therefore, I bring you [info]needsmoarromana, the Great Romana Watch/Rewatch-a-thon. I'm looking at about one serial per week, unless enough people would prefer to stagger the episodes a little more. The important details are hopefully covered in the community userinfo.

Crossposted from here to the Horsehead Nebula, sorry.
