When Will My Favorite Movies Become DVDs?

I was watching film clips from Jeanette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy films, which are some of my favorite musicals. They are so different from the other MGM musicals, and I love that. But it makes me sad that they aren't on DVD yet. I often check what classic films are coming on to DVD, and I keep feeling that lots of crap movies, or just more of the same kind of classic films are being released onto DVD. Maybe it's just because some of my favorite films have yet to be released (I demand a Greer Garson Film collection!), but I am so frustrated with the selections of classic films that are becoming DVDs.

From everything I've read so far, the MacDonald-Eddy films will be released, but they need extensive restoration and cleaning. The rights are held by Warner, so you know that when they are finally released, they will look as good as possible and have lots of extras. Warner is committed to giving their classic films first class treatment.

It is frustrating to wait, though. ; )

Dude, I totally didn't know that. That's awesome. Now, all I need is a Greer Garson and Norma Shearer Box Sets of movies, and I'm good.

Have you seen the Forbidden Hollywood Volume 2 set? There are 2 great early Norma Shearer movies in it: The Divorcee and A Free Soul plus 3 other movies and a documentary on Pre-Code film. It's a really great set.

Yeah, I have seen it. It would be nice if all of Norma was collected together, but I deal with what I get. I really do want the New Forbidden Hollywood set, I bought the first one when it came out, but I'm lacking in the money at the moment. Although, I am trying to save up for the third Bette Davis set.
