I finally saw The Road to El Dorado... ^^;; Aaaannnndddd ummmm... dammit. I hate watching movies like that where someone lies about something and you KNOW they're going to get caught at some point and arrrgh. Everything that makes me feel ashamed for the characters (myötähäpeä, I'd say in Finnish), just feels so annoying and painful to watch. Buuut I forced myself to watch it to the end 'cause I loved the characters and... my final conclusion is that... I loved the characters. And I loved the art and the animation. The plot was just bleh. But I'm glad I watched it anyway.

... Oh yeah and it reminded me of the writing systems of the world course I had in winter. xD;;; Because we had a lesson about the Aztec writing system. (Ohhh~ I loved that course so much~~ *language nerd*) Also, I really want to learn Spanish...

Then after the movie we tried playing Jade Empire... but... errrgh... Just. No.

Okay, the good things about it were that it was pretty, and the main chara I chose was so damn hot. And that you can have gay pairings. xD;;; But that's about it... At first it was just laughable and stupid with "shrines" that give you health and chi and "focus" (wtf... why do you need "focus" to wield a weapon but not to fight bare handed?) and other mock Chinese stuff and stupid jokes about the hero asking too much questions for someone who's lived in the village all her life...

But then there was the "oh you're the best student in our school" and "you're so wise and cool" stuff... At first I just lolled at it and thought it was just a crappy way to set the setting but... then it just kept going on and on. The hero is just such a platant Mary Sue I can't even believe it. And of course there's that ONE rival character who hates her and is jealous of her but everybody else hates him and likes the hero... -___-;;;;; What the fuck. And they wouldn't shut UP about it! Everytime you try and talk to someone about anything, they end up complimenting you and bad-mouthing the rival.

Buuut... as if it wasn't enough of a bad fantasy plot already, they had to give the hero a secret past with violently murdered parents and speshul inheritance and shit. And of course the current Emperor is EVIL (even though earlier they said they don't want to divide people into black and white categories or talk about "good" and "evil"). And he wants to kill the hero for God knows what reason. Well, just because she's speshul I guess.

The last straw was that the fighting system sucked. No more playing that game. >__>;; I can't recommend it to anyone.

Maybe we'll play some more Fable instead. xD;;;;

Seriously. You have no idea how much it meant to me these past two years (yeah, I got into Avatar by the end of the first season). THANK YOU, engelen, FOR TELLING ME TO WATCH AVATAR UNTIL I FINALLY DID IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I can completely recommend this show to everyone ever, because it has everything I could ever want in a story. And. Oh man, now I'm kind of sad.

 I don't watch romantic comedies very often.  How often?  Well, I'm sure that, between How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and 27 Dresses, I watched one (willingly, not by other people having it on and my not being able to escape) that wasn't a classic or a rewatch, and didn't have magic and/or period costumes, but I couldn't tell you what it was.  Too often, they seem to rely on two people who don't like each other always being stuck with each other and sniping, only to have them randomly declare their love at the end.  That, or raunchy/poor mannered/"funny" guy bring the stiff/wallflower woman out of her shell, and we aren't  meant to notice what a jerk he is.  Plus, they tend to be really big on the idea that humiliating characters and comedy are one and the same.

I'm not really sure why 27 Dresses appealed to me.  In case anyone doesn't know, it's about a woman named Jane who's been a bridesmaid 27 times.  She's incapable of saying no, or really of asserting herself in any way, and always does what people want.  Even to the point of running everything in her boss's life while he doesn't notice she's in love with him, and then standing aside when her sister falls for him.  In completely honesty, while there's nothing wrong with him, the guy is as interesting as dirt.  More interesting is Kevin, a magazine writer who writes articles about weddings, but who doesn't believe in love and marriage.  Jane, who firmly believes in love and marriage, finally finds something to assert herself against.  Things go the way they usually do.

Honestly, I think half my interest was in seeing James Marsden finally get the girl with no chance of her pining after someone else.  Sure, Superman is Superman and Hugh Jackman makes Wolverine about 1000 times more interesting than he is in the comics, but it's kind of hard to watch Superman Returns and the X-Men movies and believe that the women would be pining after them when they could have his characters.  Catherine Heigl is one of those actresses I'm always positive I like, but I can never think of anything I've seen her in.

In all honesty, it's almost impossible to believe that Jane  is single without it being by choice, but it works.  Jane and Kevin are both easily likable, the dialogue is pretty good, and Heigl and Marsden have good chemistry.  I was also very amused by Jane's Closet of Shame, and the fact that the dresses were blatantly an excuse for wardrobe to dress Heigl up in all sorts of outfits.

It's mostly just a normal, if good, romantic comedy, but it does make the romance be the spring that makes Jane step out of her self-assigned role and take charge of her life, and she asserts herself because she's tired of it all, not just because the cute guy told her to.  Because of this, some scenes that would normally result in character humiliation aren't, as they're her finally sticking up for herself, if not always in the best way possible.


I admit, part of why I like it is because I went in expecting nothing more than likable fluff with pretty people, and that's what I got.

In conclusion, I feel compelled to mention that Kevin is practically a male version of Kate Hudson's character in 10 Days.  They should bond about their desire to write about important issues and such while stuck writing for trend magazines and departments.

I wanna find the Naruto kink meme. I'm sure it exists. But I'm also sure a page in and I'd probably want to have clawed my eyes out 2-3 times.

It's times like these I wish I trusted fanfic more. I was scrolling through the Speed Racer fanfic community and there were things that sounded interesting but I just KNOW the one I choose will be like "Good good good...OH GOD."

But sitting here, too brain dead to work on anything rping, I really shou.ld gather up the couragewill to try.

it is over. Done. Finis. FUCKING can't believe it, and FUCKING can't believe how much it affected me, but I burst out in tears when "The End" popped up unto the screen. That was just way too conclusive for me.

In case you guys couldn't guess, I am talking about the season finale of Avatar. Holy Moly. I was 'squee'-ing and hyperventilating the whole time.

But I digress.

Bad things out of the way first? Why, certainly!

1. Zuko's inquiring about his mother, with NO conclusive answer WHATSOEVER. That gave me hope for another season, until I saw the 'THE END' punching me repeatedly in the eyeballs. What was the point of that? I hope there is some kind of, I don't know, Epilouge that sums all of the unanswered questions up. (Le Gasp! Should I even venture to hope for a ten year-or-so time skip episode!? The scandal, the intrigue, the 'GASMS! XDD)

2. Deux Ex Machina, much? I mean, seriously. I don't mind how the Fire Lord was defeated and all, like, duh, it's a kids cartoon. Of course they're not going to actually have a 12 year old kill someone. But STILL. They just randomly threw that lion-turtle shitty-whatever thing in, after all of those episodes building up to the Avatar kicking ass and taking names and having to 'defeat the Firelord'. They could have at least warmed us up to the whole alternative-to-killing thing....Oh well. Whatever. Plot conveniences can suck mah balls.

3. Maiko. Ugh. She went up in popularity for me because she stood up to Azula, but still....grrrr. It wasn't so bad, though...I guess....Yes it was. XDD

4. Katang....THAT pissed me off. We go from Katara being 'unsure' to a complete make-out session, yet there was no time where they discussed and/or bonded in between. Holding hands at teh end would have been a little more, I don't know, 'romantic', I guess, in that situation. Or hugging. But completely swapping saliva? Bah, humbug,

5. This pisses me off to no end, and I promised myself I wouldn't rant about this excessively, so I just want to say it (again): Zuko asking about his mother. No answer. What the Fuck.

6. Sokka lost his sword.


The Good:

1. Azula' break down. Pure, psychotic brilliance. And she was animated BEAUTIFULLY the whole time.

2. Old-guy badassness. XD Lawl. Love seniors. Speaking of which...

3. Iroh. Need I say more?

4. Zuko blushing when Toph grabbed his arm? WTF XDDD That was pure hilarity for me, and I don't know why. Isn't that, like, Toko, or something? Or Zuph XD

4. Every. Single. Zutara moment. Conceivable. I LOVED what the creators gave us. I appreciate it wholly, and what material us Zutarians now have under our wing can be used for years to come in beautiful, wonderful, creative (and hot/steamy XDD) fanfiction and fanart. So, basically, lets see if I an recall come of the moments:

5. Zuko's hand on Katara's shoulder to stop her from going to talk to Aang, so sweet!! XD

6. And right when I saw Jun I KNEW there would be an awkward recall of Jun's explicit Zutardedness!! Their blushes were so cute and their frustration and annoyance at the very idea of them being together was GREAT!

7. Katara and Zuko having that pow-wow, which gave Zuko the courage he needed to confront to his Uncle!! BAHHH!!! SO AMAZING!! (You can imagine at this point in the 2 hours, I was having an immensely difficult time breathing)

8. And then, THEN, the golden moment, Zuko asking Katara, PERSONALLY, to accompany him. WTF happened to me then, I don't know. I must have blacked out from fangirl-induced hyperventilation. XDDDD

9. Zuko taking that hit for her was just way too much for me. If #8 was the golden moment of the 2 hours, this was the DIAMOND moment. The distress in his eyes, the slow-mo, the devastation, the fangirling, the HUMANITY! *Swoon* It was straight out of a fanfic, and I loved every second of it. Us Zutarians have persevered through rain, sleet, and snow, we've foudn hope in episodes through symbols and circumstance. And this time around, among other things, he took a fucking LIGHTENING BOLT to save her life, what more do we need?!?! He's got to have SOME strong feeling for her, maybe not romantic, but they could develop!! All we fanfic-ers need now is a two year time skip with Aang and Mai out of the picture, and we've got ourselves a sizzling story of unpaid debts and untold attractions!!!

11. This was the silver moment in the two hours (I like silver better that diamond and gold anyway XDD) Katara healing Zuko THE SAME FUCKING WAY she healed Aang and holding Zuko in the same tender, loving, motherly way....goodness, that was so refreshing and nice to see. And their little chat after the healing was precious and priceless and perfect and so many other 'p' words. Just...ahhhh!!!!

12. Sokka said something hot and Zutara when describing their 'defeat the Firelord' plan. Something about Zuko and Katara, blahblahblah. I can not remember exactly, but it make me SQUEE like no tomorrow.

13. Zuko and Katara slept next to eachother.

14. Animation? Gorgeous. Characterization? On the dot. Music? Fantastic, especially during the Zuko/Azula Agni Kai. Pairings? Predictable, but tolerable. What can you do?




So, basically? The announcer yells: "AND KATANG WINS BY A NOSE! Katangers across the world roar!!" But the speaker for Zutara? He simply announces: "AND IT'S GOOD!", because it wasn't just good, this was GREAT. Zutara was so DAMN close!! But that's okay. Because Mike and Brian, I still love you for giving us that. Because, even though you threw Katang the big steak, we got plenty o' juicey scraps of meat AND the AI Sauce. XDD
