IS Open Day Tomorrow [Sunday 07/27/08 at 12:34am] kristalyamaki Tomorrow would be Institut Sinaran's Open Day. I'll be attending its opening ceremony as requested by Ms. Angela. For all that cared, I don't understand why they wanted us to attend the function in our school uniforms. X-Files movie! [Saturday 07/26/08 at 1:27pm] umadoshi [ mood | content ] [ music | Ben Folds - Army (live) ] A small mob of us went to see the new X-Files movie, I Want to Believe, last night. I went in with basically no expectations; I was really looking forward to seeing Mulder and Scully back on screen together, but given how deeply bitter I am about the way the show went, I refused to get my hopes up too high. (Which didn't keep me from fidgeting and being excited, if that makes any sense. I adore Mulder and Scully so much that even the idea of seeing them again made me ridiculously happy.) It was a little funny, though, because the friends I went with included two who are very into David Duchovny, while I'm a much bigger fan of Gillian Anderson. (We also had bosonator, who's now seen...the two episodes we showed him, and about six episodes from season one. He was very into it, though. ^_^) [Time out here to pass on a link I got from both coastal_spirit and musesfool: "Scully Have I Loved", an excellent essay/retrospective. I read this before seeing the movie, and it also made me ridiculously happy.] This isn't a unified review, just some assorted thoughts. First, non-spoilery impressions: ( under their own cut, in case people don't want to hear anything about it before going. Or, you know, just don't care. Also, a bit of commenting about the end of the series ) ( spoilers--mostly the bits I loved most ) All in all, I'm not sure how good the movie actually was, but it gave me what I wanted out of it. New toy [Saturday 07/26/08 at 10:14am] lkk [ mood | pleased ] I got a new computer printer yesterday. It's an HP Deskjet 6988. It doesn't scan or fax. It just prints in color and supposedly prints photo quality as well. I'm happy with my scanner & have next to no need for a fax. Couldn't justify paying extra for those functions. What I did pay a little for more -- and the reason why I wanted a new printer -- was built-in networking & wireless functionality. With my old printer, I literally dragged it out and plugged it in to my laptop whenever I wanted to print. The new printer is wired into my home router so I can access it wirelessly from anywhere in my house. Without going through the all the annoyance of dragging it out and plugging it, etc. I didn't pay full price for the printer.
