Featured Hero #61
Name: Corporate Clown
Origin: Technology
Archetype: Blaster
Primary: Electrical Blast
Secondary: Electricity Manipulation
Server: Freedom
After Rex Farthingworth, AKA Corporate Clown, lost everything in a bad stock deal he flew into a blind rage. He stormed down to the tech department of his failing business, Blasty Co., and demanded that they outfit him with powers to fight crime. While the scientists did help The Corporate Clown gain his powers, the clown hair and make-up was entirely of Rex's own design. Now, after a bail-out from the Paragon City government and a few friends, Rex is beginning to rebuild his industrial empire. Nevertheless he remains available as The Corporate Clown to fight crime wherever it is found.

The Corporate Clown is a good friend of Kelos, brother to Vera Aloe, and thus is connected with the S.T.E.A.M. super group. He seems to have had a vibrant dating life prior to his corporate downfall, and most of the other male members of S.T.E.A.M. remain in awe of his confidence. Despite his casual attitude towards people's feelings in general, it appears that he may have some true romantic feelings towards Vera Aloe. This rumors remain unconfirmed, but he was overheard in a bar by his supergroup buddies stating something along the lines that he liked Vera too much to date her. These details remain unknown by Vera herself.

Magic Pack bind-load file

So, I made this for the Magic Pack, to make things easy to have ready for my zillions of alts.

The file is behind here. )

Just paste them into a .txt file. On my system, they're on H:\COV\ so I do /bindloadfile h:\cov\magicpack.txt

Key binds driving me batty

Hey folks i'm having a heck of a time making a costume change keybind. I've been working at it, with aide of guides, for the past hour or two and I simply can't get the hang of it.

What I want is to click a key and have my toon trigger Invisibility and change into his 3rd (cc2) costume. And to be able to click the same key thirty seconds later and have Invisibility drop and him switch to costume 2(cc1) and I just can't get it to work. No matter what guide I go by or how I parse it. I even tried to make it just one powerexec/costume change but he'll only change costume, no invisibility

Can someone please help?

popup description (macro question)

Hey guys, I just checked through the keybinds tag, but couldn't really find an answer to what I'm looking for. While I'm out adventuring I often get characters who have a tiny bubble above their heads with a small description (usually voice, like "speaks with a slightly tinny voice" or whatever) that is faded/transparent, and usually is always there.

How do I go about getting this for my own characters?

Removal

Remember, back in the beginning of CoH time, when you had to have a little macro script to change the colors in your text bubble?  Before they had the controls in the Options?

Well, I have two toons that have such code, and now it is ANNOYING and I'd like to get RID of it -- but not only do I not know how to get it out, I don't even remember how I got it in there in the first place.

Anyone have the magic knowledge for me?

Where does a Mac save the keybinds?

I've been fiddling around with CrossOver Games on the Mac again. The last time I tried it I wasn't using the latest OS, and I've learned a thing or two since then. With a little help from this here community, I've managed to get the game up and running, and keep it running, for about an hour at a time. Then it crashes. (I had a good two-hour stretch last night! Woo!)

My question is about keybind files. When I was running the game under a Windows XP partition, they were always saved in a folder called "data" in the COH folder. Now? I have no idea. I've tried saving the keybind file for a toon (let's say rush.txt, for example) and then done a search of the hard drive and come up empty.

Can any Mac user out there offer a suggestion? I kind of live and die by these bind files at this point.

Thanks!

Emote buttons?

First, let me start off by saying that I'm back on CoH, after an extended hiatus (money, school) and am back on for a month in between semesters.  I started Fri. around noon and have gotten my fire/regen scrapper Mr. Witherspoon up to nearly 21st level.  I think I've finally slaked my thirst somewhat and can start entertaining notions of alts (or newer alts than my old ones).  A couple of questions.

1) Can you make emotes into buttons you can put into your button bar at the bottom of the screen.  Links to faq's are also appreciated.  Mostly, I'm too lazy to actually click the little speech bubble thingy and was wondering if I could put an emote next to my powers.

2) Are there any up to date regen faq's out there?  I'm a little math dumb and so builds or sheets of numbers won't quite do it for my little monkey brain.  I haven't played since IO's so this is all a bit new to me and the only faq's I can find are on the scrapper forum and they're from I7 and 8.

P.S. You can mssg me in game if you want, but I'm pretty strictly solo and not prone to chattieness.

Binds for costume changes:

Could anyone lend me a hand in binds for changing costumes for dramatic effect?  i.e. going from casual wear to armour suit?  Or human to lycanthrope?

Thanks to any who help!  :)

I'm asking this here...

Because damned if I can find anything I specifically need in the CoX forums themselves.

Question about keybinds and prestige travel )

Edit/Update: It is, indeed, /bind g "powexecname prestige power surge" - thank you everyone who chimed in. It was greatly appreciated!

Emotes and powers

Nice coincidence that The Legend of Hover came up in the Dev Tracker because I was playing with that last night. I have a mage-themed character and I'd like to get some mage-esque emotes going. One of the classics is yoga + hover and I've been trying to get these two triggering together in a macro but it's just not working. Whether I do "e yoga$$powexec_toggle_on Hover" or "powexec_toggle_on Hover$$e yoga", my toon starts sitting down for the yoga emote while Hover is highlighted and then it goes off, interrupting the yoga emote. Have any of you gotten this combo to work as a single-click?

Couple of unrelated questions:

1. When we're using the Orouborous to flashback to old missions, do we have to do the entire story arc until we're able to go back to our normal contacts? I'm currently running a Clockwork mission from the teens, and it appears to be stupid long. I'd like to give it a break and go play my stuff for XP, but it appears as if this isn't possible. I thought we could do invididual missions, not just full arcs.

2. I made a keybind for the LJ chat about a month ago, and it worked great. However, I've forgotten what my keybind was ( ;-p ). Since I didn't save it as a keybind file on my computer, is there somewhere I can go get a list of every bind/macro I have made? There are a couple of artefacts from before a respec that I'd like to see.

3. Maybe it's due to using Linux (or the beta nvidia driver), but the textures under the surface of water now show as diagonal lines, as do many of the skyscraper surfaces and curbs on the road. Also, I can't seem to see masks in the character creator, and some of the colour designs on things like helmets and costumes are showing up as blocks of dots, rather than the designs. Does this seem familiar to anyone?

Anyway, I11 is pretty much awesome regardless. I really enjoyed the first arc for the time-travel, seeing the Outbreak, the Fifth Council the Fifth Column [drat, I keep getting the name mixed up - I DO know the difference ;-P ] again, too. Good times, I must say.

Global keybinds

I'm one of those (perhaps annoying) people who like to team up often and also plan stuff out like an Army General. ;) So I like to set up certain keybinds for phrases like "Ambush!", "Behind you!", "Attack the $target" etc.

I know I can save key binds to a file, but is there some way I can save a common keybinds file and just load that for all the toons I play? That way I don't have to keep doing numerous binds. I suffer from severe alt-itis, you see.

(And I also wish the game let me set things like "Allow villain chat" as global options instead of a per-character basis. Sometimes, one of my real life friends will be messaging me from the other side, and I just won't see those messages. But that's a wish for another forum, I guess.)

Favourite macros?

I've been fascinated by the idea of macros, in much the same way that UI modifaction fascinated me in WoW (because whoa... you could do EVERYTHING with that). Since then I've been searching for real descriptions of all the things you could do. Does anyone have an API list or something which tells us all the commands?

The problem is that my main is a tank, and for the life of me can't find real tank macros beyond "Hey, make your tank say something funny when he taunts!" This is both while searching for others' macros and when trying to figure out my own. The best I can come up with is a single key that, when repeatedly pushed, turns on all your defensive toggles, but since it can't be automated with three powers at once, doesn't really serve a purpose.

Anyone have any good suggestions? What are your favourite macros altogether? I have CoH running on Cedega for Linux, so the Numpad doesn't work - this prevents my Mastermind from using that awesome numpad command set that seems to be the top of the line.

Hey, can you guys check some binds for me? I've never used more than the chat ones before and I want to make sure these'll actually work.

I've finally accepted that my faulty mouse has given me too much of an excuse to slack in my emping duties so I need some way of compensating when the stupid thing will actually veer away from names and powers. Especially when the Lady Grey tf coming up for me.

The binds )

ETA: Thanks for the help, everbody! You guys are great.

Flight Poses

It might be me being a bit thick but, are the new flight poses up and running on the EU servers?
I play mainly on Union and only ever fly the same old way.
However, I have noticed on some screenshots on this community of Alts who have the new flight poses.

If they are implemented how do I get them.
(I apologise if this has already been covered but, after a search on the forums and net I could not find any info.)

A bind that needs bound

Hi there folks in the city of community. I need help in making some sort of bind to a power that will state what I am doing to a particular target. I recently picked up detention field and would like the folks on my team to know when I place it on a certain villain. I am not that fast of a typer when it comes to gaming and playing and I know this sort of thing exists. I just do not know how to do it. Any help out here would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Bind suggestions for a Fire/Rad controller

I have looked on the main boards and got very confused about what binds to try and how to set them up.

I just hit 36 and know things are gonna get tough.
Do any of you have suggestions for handy dandy Fire/Rad binds?

Targeting bind

My Google-fu is failing me here...

Anyone know a bind for targeting the nearest defeated baddie? Unchain Essence is gonna be great fun :D

Your gratz bind suggestions for d-xp weekend!

I had posted this to the Guardian forum, but I bet I would get some fun responses here, too, so...

I am normally not a big fan of rotating gratz binds, but during the last d-xp weekend I found myself torn between the tediousness of saying the same thing a zillion times and the difficulty of correctly typing a bunch of different things that often. So, it could actually be worth having a rotating gratz bind (like the taunt binds... example howto) for d-xp weekend. Regardless, it is amusing to come up with some...

Speed on Demand?

I recently tried using CityBinder to make a speed-on-demand bind. Unfortunately, the one it creates by default keeps putting me into autorun, and also requires constant resetting.

I searched the official forums, and didn't see what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know how I'd manually setup a bind so that it'd turn on Sprint when I'm running, and turn it off when I'm not?

Thanks in advance!
