So, I could have sworn there was a post at one point where people listed their global names so we could match up LJ names to CoX global names.   I spent a few minutes wandering tags and didn't find it.  Is it just wishful thinking on my part, or could someone point me to it?  There's a couple of you that I have fun teaming with and would like to add to my friends list.

And, if there isn't one, let's start one, 'cause I am having trouble keeping track of people...!!!!

CoX is a bit messed up right now. It is still playable. However:

Some channels (like LiveJournal) and also global friends and global ignore lists are missing. Error messages about "invalid command" or -"wrong number of parameters" show up in the chat windows, and some of these appear to be related to the problem of the missing channels.

Ok, so after the almost 2.5 years of playing COX, I STILL have no idea how to join a chat channel.
To join Pride (the LGBT channel), I had to have one of my friends do it for me.
I was wondering how does one join or create a channel, because I keep reading all the posts in this LJ group yet never got around to joining the channel.

Sidenote: After spending the 10 bucks to get the V-Day costumes, I wish they could let us buy character slots. That would be so awesome. I have a villain counterpart to each hero I have, but sadly I have to have them on opposite servers because...I can't have 20 character slots.

Sometimes I am able to see someone's conversation (or half of it) in the chat bubble above their head. It's not a conversation on broadcast, local, or team channel. I'm willing to bet the people talking thought what they were saying was private, if ya know what I mean :D

So, does anyone know which channels show up in the bubbles so anyone can see them?

Now I'm paranoid that someone can see my babblings on SG channel or somesuch.

Right, that seems to make sense.

Seems that 'Global' channels are actually only part of the globe ;) That would explain why - as one of the only alonely type of Europe players - no one was every talking to me.

For people on the Europe servers (Union, Defiant, Vigilance and Zukunft) I've created the LiveJournal global channel, so please feel free to jump in and add on. I know there's a few more of us out there, and may be useful when we're attempting to find things to do.

You'll see when I'm about (@Sigilian). Which I'm not at the moment. But I will be later. We can chat regardless of which of the Euroservers we're on (like the rest of the LJers who play on the American Server side can!)  I'm found on the Union server.

A useful tip for those who don't use the chat functions all that often; you can set a tab to display messages, or display it in your 'lower' chat box.

Also - you'll be able to see how many other LJers are on the Europe-zone by clicking on your Friends list, then selecting the LiveJournal channel; you'll see us all there. Awwww!

Has anyone else been getting bombarded with farming tells and emails when they are logged in? I was on the other night and I got about 4 tells selling a farming service and then when I logged in later (I was Mondo Man on LJ channel) I had two emails offering a farming service.

Its getting more than a little aggravating and I was wondering if any of you fine folks were having the same thing happen to them?

I fear what my in-game in box will look like when I get back from work/school travel in 3 weeks.

I remember reading on one of these posts that there might be a LJ community ventrilo server... is this true? I can't find anything out about it, but would be interested, especially to test out my Ventrilo installation on Linux (which is weird, let me tell you).

Is there an LJ Ventrilo server, or shard-specific vents (for Pinnacle, for instance)?

There's a new global channel!!!

The Rikti invasion stuffs no longer are broadcast in [Admin], they're broadcasted in a much subtler green [Vanguard]. And it looks like it's only in the Global tab, not the chat tab or the combat tab.

Woohoo! Less spammage (well, more spammage from me, but less from the game!)!

So, log in, sg asks if I want in on mid 20's safeguard. Say sure, bring in my 25 blaster. get in, get the bank saved, huzzah. so following the team, (being a blaster and all) and some family get agroed. No problem, there's seven of us, so seeing them hitting one of the controllers, jump in and start shooting. Afterall, there's seven..no wait..i'ts just me. (thud)

everyone else was on Teamspeak, and neglected to tell me that. so when they said 'ok lets go" they all left, without taking 2 seconds to type "ok, lets get out"

Thats all that was necessary. Yet I ended up logging off early because I was so angry about the whole thing. Maybe I just need to put the game away and go on to something else.

There were requests recently for info on the LJ global channel.

To join it, just type /chanjoin Livejournal

Be sure to edit a tab to put Livejournal on it. Personally, I like to have a tab just for LJ and to have it on my 'everything' tab as well. Then if I want to look back and just see some funny conversation on LJ, I just look at the dedicated tab.

A lot of people speak on LJ with info flags to identify themselves, so you see comments like:

Erydanus [Kid Physics 50 Con Vir] Mmmm, pie!

This is done with a bind. Simply pick a key--I use l (L) for livejournal. You can use any key. Then type this:
/bind l beginchat /send Livejournal [INFO HERE]

Type a trailing space. It just looks nicer and helps the line break better.

Now, what to put in the info here? Whatever you like. Most people use variables for name and level, an abbreviation for their server, and an abbreviation for their archetype. The variables are: $level (trained level btw, not combat level) and $name. Actually, $archetype is also legit but is cumbersomely long, so please just abbreviate with 2-3 letters.

So, a typical bind actually will look like this:

/bind L beginchat /send Livejournal [$name $level AT SRV]

This and other handy info can be found on the cityofvillains home page in the "break out box" in the top right. Check it out sometime!

I don't know if others have done this already, but I made a channel PinnacleLJ for those of us on here who play there. If there was already such a channel on Pinnacle, I'll get rid of it and join that one.
