Featured Hero #59
Name: Bruisefairy
Origin: Mutation
Archetype: Scrapper
Primary: Martial Arts
Secondary: Regeneration
Server: Victory
Nethari Rivers, aka Bruisefairy, is a metahuman from another dimension which is controlled by the Council Empire. She came to Paragon City as a child when her mother made a bid for freedom from the population purges on their homeworld and was adopted by a local family after her mother died. She and her human brother Micah both excelled at martial arts as children and continued their studies into adulthood. Nethari holds a special hatred for the Council, as she is fully aware of what they can become if left to run unchecked. Micah disappeared shortly after the first Rikti War and Nethari now searches for him even as she defends Paragon City from all manner of threats. She can be found most often with her best friend Lady Abigail Talonfist, her partner in leading the Nocturnal Misfits.

Alakazam-wha!?

I have a few magic themed characters and I had set up the emote for Alakazam-react and I clicked it today to find I no longer turn into a pumpkin-- but rather a randomly selected object, now with nifty smoke effects!

When did they change that?

In case anyone besides me didn't know this...

The Vanguard Sygil costume change emote has to be purchased with Vanguard merits.

New Costume Change Emotes

As you may know, I15 is supposed to bring us a bunch of new Costume Change Emotes. Not connected to the Magic Booster Pack, these should be available to all:

Salute
Evil Laugh
Howl
BackFlip

Looks like Peacebringers and Warshades will be able to use their respective 'explode' emotes as a Costume Change Emote, too...but my personal fave is the "Vanguard Sigil"...

Too sexy.

EDIT: Odd, the embedded video is not showing up when this post is viewed in the community's style. If for some reason you aren't seeing it, you can find it here.

Heroing again!

OK, so, I haven't been playing CoH regularly for a while, but lately I've been in the mood, so with the new issue I figured I'd check out the architect features, and managed to fall in love with the game all over again, for a few reasons...

Cut for complete game geekery )

Cyborg Pack Available Tomorrow

Lighthouse says:

"Hey gang. Here's the deal. The packs were up on the PlayNC store for a short time yesterday, but that wasn't in sync with the game version. Now that the new game version is up today, we should have the cyborg pack and temp jetpack available for purchase tomorrow. "

Includes cyborg costume set, emotes, frikkin' laser eye auras, and the power to asplode. In other words, pure awesome.

Emote buttons?

First, let me start off by saying that I'm back on CoH, after an extended hiatus (money, school) and am back on for a month in between semesters.  I started Fri. around noon and have gotten my fire/regen scrapper Mr. Witherspoon up to nearly 21st level.  I think I've finally slaked my thirst somewhat and can start entertaining notions of alts (or newer alts than my old ones).  A couple of questions.

1) Can you make emotes into buttons you can put into your button bar at the bottom of the screen.  Links to faq's are also appreciated.  Mostly, I'm too lazy to actually click the little speech bubble thingy and was wondering if I could put an emote next to my powers.

2) Are there any up to date regen faq's out there?  I'm a little math dumb and so builds or sheets of numbers won't quite do it for my little monkey brain.  I haven't played since IO's so this is all a bit new to me and the only faq's I can find are on the scrapper forum and they're from I7 and 8.

P.S. You can mssg me in game if you want, but I'm pretty strictly solo and not prone to chattieness.

Military Salute, Minor Nitpick

- No, I don't think this is important enough to take the Devs' attention away from anything else in the game.
- Yes, I know we used to have "/em salute" only, and "/em militarysalute" was added later.
- I'm not angry or upset about this, I just wanted to flail for a second.

All that being said: WHHHYYYY is the military salute *so*freaking*wrong*? I know the answer, of course, it's probably that none of the Devs has ever been in the military. I don't think I've ever seen a movie get it right either, so if that's what they were going from, it's no wonder. This site has a pretty good description of a proper salute:

"To salute, raise your right hand smartly until the tip of your forefinger (index finger) touches your handgear[sic], above above and slightly to the right of your right eye. Keep your thumb and fingers extended and joined, palm to the left, with your hand and wrist straight. Hold your upper arm horizontal, and your forearm inclined at an angle of 45ยบ. At the same time turn your head and eyes toward the person or flag you are saluting. Hold the salute until returned by the person, saluted, then drop your hand smartly to your side (without smacking the side of your skirt[/leg/pants])."
The easiest way I remembered was to put the tip of the index finger at the outside of the eyebrow. If you're wearing glasses, then it's the top corner of the glasses. I'm not sure about different kinds of headgear, because when we saluted in soft-caps, we always still put our finger to our eyebrow, but there *are* some kinds of hats where you put your finger up to the bill. (I don't think the Army has any of those, or if they do, I never got to wear one.)

Still, the in-game emote has the hand clear up in the middle of the forehead. Which to do so, they had to raise the upper arm so it's not parallel to the ground. (Not to mention the fact that they're looking way too far above the horizon line..) All of this makes me want to face-palm. ;)

bridal pack

Drat it all, I missed even the chance to go to the wedding...**sniffles** [Perfect World has eaten my *SOUL*]. But, seeing that the bridal pack is available....I gotta know. Anyone who has it...is it really worth it? I'm debating whether or not to get it, so if anyone has pics of the new costume pieces [more and/or better than what's been posted on the official website], could you please point me their way? Also, it mentions that the tux jacket is for "any character", does that mean the girls can wear it? I'd *love* to stuff a girl in a boy-style tux!! ^_^

The emotes would be fun [but darn it, I really *wish* they'd do the vomit one...every time I do the Vahz arc and get infected, I want to do the vomit emote on the doc's shoes and say "there's your sample!"], but don't think it'd be worth it just for the emotes. heh

Newsflash!

This just in : Co_ has released another paid 'goodies pack' for V-Day.

Info here.

I put up the screenshots I took. As for "Huge" - seriously. Just extrapolate male data onto huge frame. This took me long enough to get edited up. (MS Paint! Woo!)^_^;;

Edited to Add : I missed an outfit. It's in a separate post. NCSoft is aware of the fact that the veil is very buggy - apparently, it is SUPPOSED to be a lacy transparent affair, and ... well, yeah. It isn't.

... no other reports on the issues highlighted in either post of mine here. Hopefully, they get noticed and rectified. I'm not willing to venture a post into the main forums, however, so it won't be me who raises the red flags.

Edited to add some pics. They're big, but I'm scaling them down. )

Emotes and powers

Nice coincidence that The Legend of Hover came up in the Dev Tracker because I was playing with that last night. I have a mage-themed character and I'd like to get some mage-esque emotes going. One of the classics is yoga + hover and I've been trying to get these two triggering together in a macro but it's just not working. Whether I do "e yoga$$powexec_toggle_on Hover" or "powexec_toggle_on Hover$$e yoga", my toon starts sitting down for the yoga emote while Hover is highlighted and then it goes off, interrupting the yoga emote. Have any of you gotten this combo to work as a single-click?

Flight Poses

It might be me being a bit thick but, are the new flight poses up and running on the EU servers?
I play mainly on Union and only ever fly the same old way.
However, I have noticed on some screenshots on this community of Alts who have the new flight poses.

If they are implemented how do I get them.
(I apologise if this has already been covered but, after a search on the forums and net I could not find any info.)

Emote idea...

What I would dearly love to see in an update is an emote animation that you could macro with a costume change, for the express purpose of masking the switch. So far, I've come up with a column of smoke and/or fire, blinding flash of light (kind of like TP but different), elemental coverup (swallowed by earth and spit out, covered in vines, etc.) and the Portable Phone Booth, for those Golden-Age types who have a secret identity to protect.

Tell me it wouldn't just be awesome to key a macro, have your toon summon a phone booth, jump into it, and jump out again in his new duds?

Current Mood: thoughtful thoughtful

I'd like some input regarding a small annoyance I've been wondering about for a while now.

When I use "unselect" in a bind or macro, it doesn't get me out of battle stance. But the escape key, as far as I can tell, only has "unselect" bound to it by default.

So, I guess my question is this: What is the command to use in binds or macros to get a hero out of battle stance?

Emote question

Is there a "cell phone" emote? I see all these badguys standing around with brick-size cell phones before I bust up the place, and I was thinking it would be an interesting emote/afk. Does one exist?

EDIT: I've asked the question via the CoH support website, we'll see what they say.

A sign of things to come? Hrmmmmm.

Anyone want to see something interesting? [info]angerbunny found this while playing his AR/Dev blaster. As an AR/whatever, pull out your gun (just hit an attack button when nothing's targetted) and do the fancy bow emote (/em fancybow).

Neat, I think. If you don't have an AR blaster, just create one real quick and try it in the tutorial to check it out.
