Name: Rapport
Origin: Mutation
Archetype: Controller
Primary: Gravity Control
Secondary: Force Field
Server: Infinity
After a heavy night of partying at the Pocket D, Kyle McNamee stumbled through the streets of Kings Row to his studio apartment. All was well and good until a small group of Skuls saw him as easy prey and advanced upon him. A quick pistol whip to the back of Kyle’s head triggered his unknown dormant powers of gravity control, force field generation and later, telepathic assault. After fleeing for his life inside of a personal force bubble, he later returned to the crime scene as his new costumed alter ego: Rapport.

Legion of LiveJournal Update

Hi folks,

I updated the LoLJ base on Virtue this weekend to match the one on Triumph. Everything I said in the post about the Triumph base also applies, except we only have tier1 empowerment stations and I didn't have to go get the RWZ beacon. Additionally, Virtue has a Terra Volta beacon.

As part of the base expansion, the contents of the workshop got moved. Moving a storage bin erases all the names on the items in it. The LoLJ base has had a "personal only" storage bin in the power room for a long time, and that didn't get moved. However, someone put extra bins in the workshop and I guess some people have been using them as personal storage. In the past, the bin in the workshop was designated as being for public consumption; I know in the past I dumped extra crafted IOs and SOs in it for people. I don't think that policy should have been changed without a big public note here, just to avoid confusion.

Now that I've moved those bins, their contents are unflagged. So anyone who's been storing their enhancements in the workshop instead of the power room needs to go get them and pull them out, pronto, before someone takes them as charity. You can still see what you put in by pulling up the base log. I think we should still have enough room in the power room's bin for anything individuals want to store. If we really don't, then we can put in another private store in the new larger workshop and cordon it off so people don't mistake it as freebies.

Legion of LiveJournal : Triumph

The Legion of Livejournal base on Triumph has been expanded. Here are the "patch" notes:

  • Increased Base size to 8x12. The base will now incur rent. Members of Rank 3-5 can pay rent. Please wait until rent is 2 weeks overdue if possible.
  • Expanded workshop. Workshop is now located left of the entrance and is immediately accessible upon entering the base.
    • Consolidated inspiration storage
    • Added a tier 2 arcane empowerment station (tech and arcane components are available in the storage bin. use whatever we seem to have more of. Eventually we'll upgrade arcane empowerment to tier 3.)
  • Added additional teleport room in the space previously occupied by the workshop.. Set the extra teleport room's beacons to the 4 lowest level zones in the game:
    • Atlas Park
    • Galaxy City
    • The Hollows
    • Perez Park.
  • Obtained and added new beacons to the main room:
    • Striga Island
    • Crey's Folly
    • Eden
    • Rikti War Zone (You people OWE me for this one, oh yes you do, there are 14 badges to get that beacon and I only had 2 already. Fortunately, one of them was the mothership.)
  • Beacons have been re-ordered by level, with King's Row and Talos Island on the first teleporter on the left of the room. The only hero location without a beacon is Terra Volta.
  • Added Pillar of Ice and Flame in the control room
Additionally, the LoLJ of Triumph has formed its 10th coalition, and there are no more coalition slots available.

Hooray For Magic Desks

I love base building. No, really, I think I have as much fun with it as I do with the actual game, sometimes. I like being able to make a functional base and still make it cool. I like working in compact spaces to try and make it as useful as possible, and I like having the ability to spread out to a larger plot. I'm pretty damn proud of my bases, and I put a lot of work into them, both at set-up and later on.

Needless to say, the day I discovered the Legend Of The Magic Desk, I was intrigued. This skill, it had to be mine. Unfortunately, the SG bases I can work with aren't huge, so what I can really do with it while staying functional is a little more limited, but still, I've done a few nifty little things here and there.

When [info]foomf dropped a Longbow Chaser into the O.C.T.O.P.U.S. Inc. base (the only true 8-legged-creature themed villain group in the Rogue Isles), I knew what I wanted to make...

We now have our own Emergency Flyer, connected to the Med Bay, hovering, ready to fly if the need arises. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

Special Floaty Base Stuff!

Yes, I have seen this post (including the video explanation), and yes, I have attempted to recreate the effect multiple times, in multiple rooms, facing multiple map points, against a wall, near a wall, middle of the room, here a llama, there a llama, everywhere a llama llama.

I cannot recreate it. I need someone who knows how to reliably recreate this effect to a) make a villain on Protector, or b) already have a villain on Protector, and who is willing to join me on Vent to show me how to do this. I am trying to make seamless stairs up to a higher floor. I can't even create a magic desk. *tears hair out*

The vanishing base bug strikes home...

/delurks

Okay, this is the first time I've really gotten massively angry at COH/COV. My supergroup, of which I'm an officer in, had this really beautiful and gorgeous base. It was a roleplaying hub, it had containers crammed full of Inspirations and IO enhancements of all levels. It had offices, gardens, hot tubs, dance floors, libraries, workshops, teleporters to every single blueside zone, you name it. We really loved that base. It was something that brought us all together. (Photos)

Last week it vanished.

After coming back for about an hour, it vanished again.

About 6 trouble tickets and four days later, we are still without the base we all put so much love into, along with all the prestige and materials that went into it. We're getting nothing but a run around from the customer service people, making me feel like I'm playing WoW and not City.

/sad

We're all really hoping our base and all that went into it isn't gone for good.

Oh, happy day! Pohsyb says the Spirit Signal/Robo-Surgery is fixed in I12. This makes me very happy.

Apparently, also mentioned that base fixes have been low priority, because there's a re-vamp coming past I12, sometime, but redacted the statement for reasons of not getting nailed down to the statement. ;)

Question about base building

There's a ton of sites online for almost everything you could possibly need for CoX. But is there a good base building for dummies site?

Something like "Base Building on a budget"?

Any help is appreciated

Base Building Question

Lately I've been seeing some screenshots where things are stacked on top of one another in ways that normally they can't be (like this one). Anyone know how it's done?

Grr

I love it when they fix things that actually end up working better than they should work but leave things that aren't working alone.

For instance, sometime recently, they apparently fixed the "bug" where you could temporarily switch your SG logo so that you could have different symbols on your banners, floor tiles, etc. This allowed for more customization in bases. Apparently less important was fixing the bug where Voids and Quantums will continue to appear in your missions after you've teamed with a Kheld until you log out.

Yes I'm aware that these problems could take a considerably different amount of resources, it just irritates me that any resources are spent on something that is in absolutely no way an issue.

Concerning bases & room limitations...

What is the deal with the Supercomputer? I managed to get it (finally!) and the MegaMonitor (which I know you can only use with the Supercomputer) but no matter what I do, the Base Editor keeps telling me I can't place the Supercomputer in my Control Room!

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Stupid Newbie Question Alert

Okay, since I can't seem to find this answer easily, is there some way of finding out how much prestige the supergroup has available, *without* selling off everything in the base?

Thanks!

Merry Basemas

According to the official forums, the SG Prestige Grant button was hit a SECOND TIME.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=9809039&an=&page=&vc=1

According to Lighthouse they had meant to zap the Test Server and hit live instead. And, now that it's done, it's done.

Legion of LiveJournal

Just letting you guys know that both the LoLJ bases on Virtue and Triumph have been updated using the prestige bonus we got from NCSoft. Both bases have had all their individual teleport rooms removed and replaced with a single Secure Portal Room with 8 telepads in it. I put the teleport beacons on the pads in ascending level order from left to right, Atlas Park on the far left, Peregrine Island on the far right. I picked beacons based on comments from who was on the global channel last night so if someone needs a zone we're missing let me or one of the other people with editing privs and we'll try to accomodate you.

Thank you!

I just wanted to say "Thank you" to all who helped padding our SGs on Pinnacle and Justice.
With your help we were able to get two nifty, fully functional bases.

You guys rock!

Another Base Teleporter question

Reading the earlier topic - about how one of the badge locations for the Rikti Warzone (RWZ) can only be found at the center of the ship during a raid - I was kinda surprised. Our Supergroup, The Legendary, was formed before the changes to the Zone, and we had a teleporter beacon to the old Rikti Crash Site (RCS) available. I'm the main base designer and updater. At the time of issue 10, we had the RCS tport beacon -available-, but we didn't actually have a tporter -using- it. Since, really, what was the point, before they updated the zone?

But as soon as a member or two asked for a teleporter to the RWZ, I took an existing telepad and reassigned it using the RCS beacon. Lo and behold, it went right to the proper zone.

Same deal with Faultline. Didn't have to get any of the new badges there either. (Though eventually I did. And I'm sure others did too.)

In fact, our tport beacons still sport the old artwork of the original zones if you look close.

Is that the experience everyone else is having?

If you didn't have the tport beacons to the zones before the expansion, and got them using the new badges, is there new art on the beacons?

I mean, I'm not complaining, and I'm glad we were able to "grandfather in" as it were, but it's sort of a "Huh... didn't expect that." moment.

Stupid prestige bonus question

The announcement said it is 20K prestige per player in an SG. What exactly does "player" mean? To me, maybe because I don't frequent the forums/boards much, there is an ambiguity between toons versus account-owner. However, given all the posts about padding and replies there-to, that suggests to me that you all think that the prestige bonus is strictly per account-owner, i.e. having 10 alts belonging to the same account would earn the same bonus as one toon.

But is that distinction between toons and players actually made on the boards?

Prestige Bonus!

On December 10th, the "A New Age" Thank-You 20,000 Prestige Bonus will be applied.

[UPDATE AS OF 11/15!!]
I WANT:
Villains on Protector!

I HAVE AVAILABLE:
Liberty - 2 premade heroes, 2 empty spots
Pinnacle - 1 premade villain, 2 premade heroes, 9 empty spots
Victory - 1 premade hero, 1 premade villain, 7 empty spots
Protector - 1 premade hero
Triumph - 1 premade hero, 7 empty spots
Champion - 6 empty spots
Guardian - 5 empty spots
[/UPDATE]

I have a vast number of characters who run without SGs. I have an updated character list, and am willing to put any character without an SG in an SG until the 10th. (The bonus prestige is not removed when the character leaves the SG - it's yours to keep!) I may or may not remain in the SG (if allowed) after the 10th, and I do not at all guarantee to play the character at any time. I am a raging altaholic. ;)

Make a request and I'll see what I can do about getting into your group.

Notes:
- All characters on Champion are spoken for, personal SG.
- Most of Infinity is also spoken for, [info]cov_pentacle.
- Most of Victory is also spoken for, [info]rageofaquarius.
- There are several characters on various servers that are in themed SGs, and are spoken for.
- [EDIT: I can create temporary characters to pad your member count anywhere that I have empty spots.]

Request:
If you have a villain on Protector without an SG, I'd love to have you in Do You Mind?'s SG No Mental Midgets for the 10th.

Global: @Aggelakis
AIM: doppelshifter

(December 10th is also Debt Wipe Mania. Go apeshit on Sunday the 9th, it doesn't matter - it'll all be gone after maintenance Monday morning!)

(Lighthouse says in the thread linked above that they hope to get I11 out before the Bonus-Wipe, so the hordes of new DB and WP characters should get SGs ASAP! :) )

Base-Building Advice

Hey all, my main on Liberty (the Sensational Speed McGee) has formed his very first supergroup, Action Unlimited, and now I'm looking for advice on base-building - assume I've covered the basics (we need an energy room and a control room, for instance), but any and all advice is welcome!

Thanks!

Need A Home?

A lot of us have been here before, and those that haven't have certainly heard about it: finding yourself basically the only active toon in a SG. So, no one's around? What do you do?

Well, in this case, I'm saying "join me in the pool."

The Crimson Omni-Gods, a Justice-based Hero SG, is happily open to any toons that need a home. With Eye-Eleven just around the corner, I know there'll be new toons made all over the place, so if you drop one on Justice and need a place to crash, feel free to let me know. I've just re-vamped the place, getting rid of useless craperoo and making it as fully-functional as I can with the prestige we have. Med-bay, plenty of storage and worktables, 6 teleporters (so far), lots of power and control to expand.

Anyway, not some kind of recruiting drive, just an open offer. Find me in-game as "@Archmage Chaos" if the mood strikes ya.

Probable n00b question...

How exactly do you use a Mana Crystal in the base?  Assume I know NOTHING about how it works.  Can I use to power a teleporter?  A medbay?  What?
