Featured Hero #4
Name: Novaheart
Origin: Natural
Archetype: Peacebringer
Primary: Luminous Blast
Secondary: Luminous Aura
Server: Virtue
Will Ironheart was born with the very minor mutant ability to change his mass. This made him special, but not Special enough to become a Hero.

Instead, he joined the Paragon City PD, and was gaining a reputation for undercover work when he was found by a Peacebringer seeking a merge, and Novaheart was born!

Since earning the honor of a cape, he will only wear a simple Black mantle in honor of both Omega team and the many Kheldians who have been slain since their arrival on Earth.

FFU

Been a while since I've needed to post one of these, the medication seems to be working (just kidding...(or am I?)). I haven't posted a Friday Fuck You for almost two years. In truth, they all would have been about the same two people. One of whom has earned the sobriquet of "5-2-5".

Anyways, this edition of the FFU award goes to the entire staff of the Hilton in Atlantic City.

All of you....fuck you.

I just spent the last 2-3 days down in AC for a conference. When I checked in, I assumed that the utter lack of personality from the woman behind the desk was her just being tired...or me having been in the car for 7 hours. Later on, I asked if they had a movie listing for the IMAX theater around the corner. The woman behind the counter simply said "That's the Tropicana" and went back to what she was doing. When I didn't go away, she looked up at me without moving her head. You know, that "you're not worth me moving my entire head". Apparently, unlike most hotels, the concierge only tells you what's available in *their* hotel...and get pissy when you ask about other places.

The next morning, I decide to hook my laptop up to the internet cable behind the TV...using the instructions on the non-existent internet card in my room. Yes, I had to deal with another person behind the desk to find this out...that they did not offer wireless and that they were again offended that I was asking them questions. Anyways, I get to their authentication page and it tells me that my name and room number don't match records. Working in IT, this doesn't bother me since I already noticed they misspelled my name on some of the registration.

I call the front desk. I'm on hold for 20 minutes. Again, with the exasperated woman, who is barely listening to me and says she needs to send me to IT. She disconnects me. I call back, and tell the next person what she was trying to do. She tells me she will transfer me to IT...and transfers me to the operator. The operator doesn't identify herself as such, so of course, I explain my situation (which really is a simple issue). When I say no, she can't transfer me to the front desk, she complains "what do you expect me to do, I'm the operator" in that same "look, asshole" tone I've been getting from everyone else.

Finally she passes me through to IT. Who, as soon as I get finished with my explanation, he asks "you're a guest?" When I say yes, he tries to pass me back to the front desk, because they don't deal with customers. It's about this point that I snap on him. I tell him that he's going to be the one to call the front desk, and that someone is going to call me back in 5 minutes and explain to me how they've fixed the problem.

By the time this is done, I'm late for my conference.

I found out that everyone else at the conference has had similar problems. Snide comments from staff about problems with the rooms. Elitist attitude about the fact that people were trying to use their Hilton-points ... since they're not really a Hilton (ya think?).

Listen assholes, you're in a service industry. Maybe you don't need to subscribe to the philosophy that guests can walk over to you, but don't antagonize them, or treat them like they're inconveniencing you.

So you all win the FFU award. Grab your ankles and I'll be happy to award it to you.

Well, poo.

Despite the 4.5 days of Cisco boot camp and studying until I was reciting subnet masks in my sleep, I just barely failed the CCNA exam. I walked into the crowded, uncomfortable test room and half of what I'd learned went straight out of my head. I flubbed one question badly because I just couldn't remember the router commands, and of course, my very non-l33t m@th ski11z didn't help. (Seriously, though: when am I ever going to need to set up a network without having a calculator anywhere?)

I may try to take it again sometime when I'm not on my period and cramping and when I don't spend half the test time thinking, "I really really need to pee.) And I did learn a lot--but I'm still rather bummed.

Because my answer to nearly everything involves food, I will say that sushi helps a lot.

And yes, I have now watched the new Avatar episode The Southern Raiders. Thank heavens for Youtube.

Now as to where I suspect everyone will be tomorrow evening . . .

Leaving for Tampa!

Well, it has been a while like always but this week has been so emotional crazy that I just was drained to post anything. I finally heard about the job and some people know but I wanted to make the full anouncement that Enowa and I will be heading down to Tampa so that I can accept a new Postion within T-mobile. I am finally able to get out of my Sr. Rep role and go into a group where my skills can be better utlized. I am so surprised that I beat out all those applicants.

I was really surprised when they called me and let me know because I was not as sure with myself as I was in the first interview. They second interview was a group interview doing what we call a calabration, in which you score a call based on our drivers. It's something that coachs do each month with the teams. So The four people who were also applying were down in the Tampa center while I was on a confrence call listening to the call. So they got to see screen shots and they could see all the information while I had to ask for it all.  I felt like I had to fight for every chance to speak bc I was not there but I was doing my best. One thing that has always been my strong point is my policy knowlage and thats what got me my position. So Now I am collecting boxs and getting packed.

Enowa was a bit alarmed about the move but I feel now I have him on the same page with me that we are renting a truck and driving our stuff down.  I may have even found an apt! Not sure yet so Enowa said he would look with me online and my TM who never really talks to me said he has lived in Tampa for the last 20 yrs and he can tell me what streets to advoid bc he said that literlly one street is good to live on and the one behind it is not good.

More News to come!

Writer's Block: Your First Record

What was the first music album you ever bought or owned? Do you still listen to it or have you moved on?

The first album I bought with my very own money was the soundtrack to Footloose.
The first album I remember having is the Grease soundtrack on vinyl.

Yeah, I'm a child of the 80s, and I have them on my iPod now :)

not just pretty! [userpic]
days! of! fun!

started Tuesday night after fp, when I went home with my other Josh to hang out with him and his lovely wife. even the car ride was full of fun and silliness and spawned all kinds of new sayings and hand gestures. Once home we ate mac and cheese and weird cake and talked and all that.
Wednesday was a nice lazy day, sleeping in until 10! and then having coffee and sausage for brekky, more lazing about and talking. Showering and more hanging out until it was time to leave for the movie. Saw Hancock, which I had already seen once, but liked it enough to see twice, and it was still good the 2nd time around. I really like how they handled the story in that one.
Went to eat, and found a bbq place that happened to be right around the corner from Ysas. Ate our bbq, drank sodas out of really cool glasses, saved room for dessert, got stuck to the seat, had creeping issues, napkin issues, and got a new ring. Twas much fun :)
After lunch we went to Ysa's for fp so Josh could meet everyone and know where it is since he lives much closer to them than here. got to see many many cool people, and got an AMAZING present from Etaine, I can't believe how fucking cool that fabric is! can't wait to have a dress made from it so you all can see it, it's fantastic! Much hanging out with people, super fun. My poor hubby made the drive all the way up there by himself to fight but forgot some of his gear so no fighting for him :( so very unlike him to forget things, that's what he gets for washing his fighting clothes. It was Will's birthday so we all sang and ate cake and were merry. After fp we sat around and played Dominoes and I whupped Bri and Ysa!
Thurs woke up 10ish and showered then went to brekky at a cute little place nearby and then it was off to Mathias and Brynes to hang with them and the kids. My RockStar status was even more secured when Fredi saw me and let out a squeal of joy. I dont know why that kid loves me so much but I'll take it! Had fun hanging with Fredi and Rylie and Matt and Bryne and just relaxing for a few hours. Even got a bonus visit from Paul and Violet. Baby love all around, yay!
Conall picked me up around 6 pm and we drove into the city listening to the Playboy channel on the satellite radio. very entertaining. Picked up Erzsebeta and went to the theater to meet the others for (drumroll) Mr. Eddie. IZZARD!!!! (insert crowd goes wild noise). It was, of course, amazing and hilarious and wicked smart. Got myself a spiffy new cake or death shirt too :)
Home around midnight, decided to sleep rather than go to midnight show of Dark Knight, so thats on the agenda for this afternoon.
Weekend plans full of bellydancing goodness and then the work party on Sun.

will the fun never end?!?!
