Damien Kellis [userpic]
Giant Monsters!

I was digging through my CoH pics downloaded from the official boards when I came across this one.

The creator of this picture is Mantid from the official boards. It's been circulated a few times, but possibly someone here hasn't seen it before. (I don't remember it being posted before, but I could be wrong.)

From left to right, front row:
- Mantid (player character, just under six feet)

- Adamastor (found in Dark Astoria. Keeper Of Secrets badge.)

- Kraken (found in Perez Park. Unleasher badge.)

- Clockwork Paladin (found in Kings Row. Knight Errant badge obtained for preventing him from being built)

- Babbage (found wild in Boomtown and as an ambush in the Synapse TF. Clockstopper badge, awarded always for the wild version and only sometimes for the Synapse version.)

- Jack-in-Irons (found in Croatoa with hordes of redcaps. Giant Killer badge.)

- Jurassik (found wild in Crey's Folly, and as the final boss in the Numina TF. The Solution badge, awarded always for the wild version and very rarely for the Numina version.)

- Head of the Hydra (found at the end of the Sewer Trial. Head of the Hydra exploration badge sitting underneath it.)

- Winter Lord (2005 Winter Holiday event only thus far. Frozen Fury badge.)

- Lanaru (found at the end of the last Shadow Shard TF. All three Aspects of Rularuu (Ruladak, Faathim, Lanaru) are the same size. No badge per se.)

- Eochai (found in Croatoa with hordes of Fir Bolg. Pumpkin King badge.)

- Kronos Titan (ambush in a 45-50 Malta story arc. Master of Olympus badge.)

- Lusca (found in Independence Port, along with eight tentacles. Devilfish badge.)

- Crystal Titan (found at the end of the Eden Trial. No badge per se.)

Back row:
- Hamidon (found in the middle of The Hive. Hamidon himself is the big round thing in the middle, while lots of other smaller round things surround him in the goo. Heart of the Hamidon exploration badge almost directly underneath it.)

- Rularuu the Ravager (not in game yet.)

EDIT: Changed pic to an updated version with the Kraken added.

Also, as a random thought, it would be interesting to see a full-sized Leviathan from the CoV Temple of the Waters Strike Force in here...

And we have to fight these things?

.....Where's an Ultraman power set when you need it?

I've found kicking them in the foot repeatedly works surprisingly well.

Alarmingly, kicking them in the head isn't allowed. (You can't use melee attacks against the Crystal Titan if you aren't within its Stomp radius... I tried.)

Yeah, I found that out too, during the brief period when my scrapper had Hover.

I've found plinking them from a distance with a sniper power, aim and build up to be good...especially when you have 2 stone tanks standing between you and those. :)

*looks at Rularuu the Ravager*
*gibbers quietly* i want my mum.

I plan to run up his leg and bonk him repeatedly in the vulnerables with the Bone Smasher until he notices.

-- Zakuko

My fire/fire tank recommends filling IPort with kerosine and tricking him into taking a relaxing bath.

If he can be persuaded to sit down on Lusca's bonce, all the better. I'll hazard she'd be pretty irritated.

We could rig the statue of Atlas to drop the world on his toe, too.

Find. Capture. Rularuu.

...Yes, I spent too much time in the Shard on my 50. So?

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Wow, over a year of play time and there is still so much I haven't seen!

But I am left wondering...do I really want to? I mean, running into Skulls in a dark alley at night, I can handle. These guys? Eeeps.

The problem with Adamastor in particular is that the fog in Dark Astoria and using minimum graphics settings and draw distances meant that I couldn't see him until I was right on top of him.

Oddly enough, I wasn't as scared as I probably should have been, possibly because I had just exited an Oranbegan map with a million zillion Voids...

They need a poster of that

Eochai first appeared in the original Halloween event. The Hallow Spirit badge was given for killing him then.

in addition to appearing in Croatoa these days

duh, first appeared >_<

nm, i just need to learn to read

Rularuu the Ravager reminds me of a time I was table top RP'ing with a psychic character I had. He had a bunch of gadgets, too, like a suped up motorbike.

Anyway, I tried fighting against this 50-foot guy by using one of my bike's gadgets to do the ol' Empire Strikes Back trick and wrapping a cable around his legs.

I rolled a 1.
He (the GM/baddie) rolled a natural 20.

He kicked me. Shattered the bike into pieces and sent me flying 10 blocks.

I'd like to see that guy try the same with Doug. :)

Isn't Rularuu at the end of the Cathedral of Pain TF? Or is it just another Aspect?

Good question. I know almost nothing about the Cathedral of Pain, nor am I likely to (my SG is unlikely to get enough people online at the same time to try to get an Item of Power, much less attempt to defend it).

It's an Aspect Of Rularuu, not Rularuu himself. He's still bloody tough, mind.

The evil Raids?

- Rularuu the Ravager (not in game yet.)

does this mean he might be the next 45+ raid target?
I know there were rumors that Caleb was going to be it untill the discovered that there was a bug with his spawning.

*eyes line critically*

Yep, four more of those to go. Six, if you count all three Rularuu. Dunno when I'll ever get to those three guys, though.

Apart from Rularuu the Terribly Large (and Mantid the Player Character), I've met all of those before on one character or another. (As well as Sally and the Kraken.) About two-thirds of them have also roundly kicked my arse one time or another.

... actually, I've only encountered Jack in Irons and Eochai during the spawn-every-five-minutes when I5 was on Test, and I've not met Lanaru yet, although I've met his two sibling Aspects. Most of them are impressive from afar, but just unwieldy up close.

Rularuu the Terribly Large
*snarf*
I find Babbage and the Kronos Titan rather impressive up close, meself. Adamastor is a bit pants, though.

That's an awesome pic. I'll have to give Mantid props for it. Thanks for posting it.

Great icon, too. (Flying Kheldian Spaghetti Monster!)
