my latest creation:

a combination of a mic w/ a dedicated transistor-based preamp (http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/amp1.htm) and a switchable octave-up/obscene nastiness filter (http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/SOU2.GIF). the best part? it goes inside this:

that's right. i installed it in the canister of my gas mask (east german if you're curious). it makes me sound like a robotic puppy-eating demon. in a good way, of course.

one more picture (the empty canister next to its guts):

note to anyone who tries to open up one of these filter canisters:

look out for the charcoal pack. it's MESSY.

sound clips will be up on my website soon and appropriately linked here.

A great idea... don't see many 'voice' bdening circuits 'round here. But won't it be hot to perform in? It has great for theatrics.

I just bought a gas mask in an attempt to do this exact same thing, but with a mistreated AudioTechnica condenser mic.

That looks damn great too.

If the filter has been used, it may have nasty chemicals still in the filter. The dangers are different for each chemicals but as a general rule wear a mask, gloves and perform in a well ventilated area, preferably outside. That way if there are any nastyness the sunlight will destroy it in a few minuets.

I too refuse to put real player on my PC. To listen to real player files though use RealAlternative.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm
Also check out quicktime alternative and their other codec packs.

P.S. Nice mask mod. I have a couple of similar masks in white/grey. Might have to try something similar with them.

just realized that i never responded to this. i used a cutting wheel on my dremel tool and some pliers. it's pretty tough whatever you use because the edge is rolled over, but for the most part, i cut what i could with the dremel and used the pliers to tear away the jagged edges.

need some more masks?

congrats from (east)-berlin. it would be a great worldwide campaign bending all those war-tools to something...nice. lets bend a tank or a crusie missile.
