A male Venusian Furphone. Hand built mic, warm and cosy in a pink furry sheath. The pink is very neon and is sewn to fit. The actual mic element is housed in an Altoids Gum tin and features a male 1/4" out jack. Hook it up through some fx pedals and get some fun and weird sounds. This mic is very crisp and sounds even crispier with some sort of pre amp: $15 ppd USA, $20 ppd Mexico/Canada, $30 ppd world email inquiry at: dollfullofrivets@hotmail.com |

Eight Great Talking Toys on eBay, 20% Off for You All.
Happy New Year, bending buddies. I'm a little strapped for cash what with the holidays and economy and my gambling and drinking and crack smoking problems. So anyway as a little fundraiser for myself I just listed 8 old talking toys on eBay. There's a Speak & Spell, Speak & Read, Super Speak & Spell, Super Speak and Math, a strange Tiger Speak and Spell (did they buy the rights from TI?) a Touch & Tell, a Talking Computron, and last but not least the kind of rare and somewhat coveted Speak & Music. Everything starts at 99 cents and has Buy-It-Nows that seem reasonable based on other completed eBay items. I will ship worldwide, you will pay with PayPal. AND if you say you saw it here on the Circuit Bending LJ community I'll give you 20% off your total before shipping, since you've all been so edu-tainmental to me. Click the pic below to start browsing, bidding and/or buying: Thanks! |

circuit bent cheap distortion pedals
Washburn and Fender had made a few effects pedals for sale at Target and other commercial outlets. It was odd seeing music instruments for sale at Target... Found a pic of the fender pedal I don't have the exact pedal title with me so I can't find the Washburn one. Target had a clearance sale and I picked up these pedals for $10 each. If I can't circuit bend them, I'm going to use the parts or rehouse other stuff. Any ideas? Tips? Is this idea win? |

BENDER mag call for artists
Hi - I'm putting together a magazine/zine called BENDER, revolving around circuit bending and DIY audio/video experimentation. We've got a fair bit of interest and contributions, but still have some more space to fill. So if there are any benders/DIY builders interested, I am looking for material to publish in this. It will be online via issuu.com and some will be printed out too for shows etc. I'm being pretty wide open about this, anything goes. Articles, schematics, art, sketches, photos and descriptions of build/ideas, whatever. There is a fair bit of material in already and it is looking good. so, anyone ? cheers, Matt http://www.mattdurant.com |

Make Magazine Project Instructions to make this are in the newest issue of Make Magazine, Vol. 14. I'm heavily considering this, and am going to combine it with my projector for live sets. Thoughts? |

Bending in Boston
Wow, how did I miss this community? I'm Jimmie Rodgers, and I recently ran the second Boston area circuit bending workshop ( go here to see info about the first one I ran). I wish I would have known about this community earlier, because I would have posted to it. You can check out my blog or my flickr account for some of the stuff I've bent. If you are in the Boston area, I would suggest you join the Bending Boston Google group. It's new, but hopefully it will become the place to go for bending related activities in the area. Also, if you are looking for toys to mess around with, the Willoughby and Baltic in Davis square just received a fairly large donation of toys to bend. They will be available for free at any time for members, or during the next bending workshop for everyone else. The workshops are free, but donations are welcome. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll make sure to post things relevant to any future projects. |

Projects
So the keyboard in the last post I made... I totally reworked and was able to get it to do what I wanted, although occasionally I still need to mess with the capacitor. Yesterday I purchased a couple more keyboards, however, the first one I cracked open has those little tiny SMT resistors and not a whole lot else going on. There is one standard diode and one banded resistor and one normal cylindrical capacitor, although those are slathered in hot glue. Also hanging out with the little SMT resistors are what appear to be SMD capacitors. This is the first time I've come across a board like this in my experiments. I'm not quite sure what I will be able to accomplish. One interesting thing about this board that I have also not come across on other boards is an array of unused spaces. Plenty, plenty of room to add other things to this board, but since the only thing I've ever put together is just a row of photoresistors and led's I don't even know where to begin. I'm sure this keyboard has a lot of possibilities but a little insight would definitely be helpful. At this time, unfortunately I am unable to take any photographs but any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated. |
