I absolutely adore this story. It's one to bring out when you need something slow, gentle and gorgeous.

It takes our boys to America over the Christmas period, ostensibly to retrieve some documents for Cowley but in reality Cowley realises just how tired they are and how they need some quality time together without the pressures of work. And so he gives them this opportunity wrapped up in a job.

There are just so many fantastic things about this story. The spell she weaves with her descriptions; about the house/pool/hottub, the butterfly tree, the wildlife are just beautiful.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Hah! You've just managed to pick one of *my* favourites! I agree with what you
say here in that the author *does* seem to weave a spell which is completely absorbing and takes the reader into another world - in fact I can honestly say that I've never come across a story quite like this one for the originality of the setting and for the kind of things the author chooses to focus on i.e. the wildlife (and this is from a reader who normally has zero interest in aything to do with nature).

A beautful read and I second your recommendation!

Weird, this one did nothing for me. I found the setting an irritating way of steeping the whole thing in a distracting Americana, and the lads were just too.. Starsky and Hutch-like for me.*g* Which is odd, I know, because that's my other fandom. But as I was reading it struck me that *they* were who I was thinking of, in terms of charcterisation and setting.

I haven't read this story yet (but will soon! I love this spree of story recs and am reading every one that I have), but wanted to comment on the S&H thing.
It's happened to me when reading a couple of stories recently (I should write things down when reading, because I forget titles easily). Mainly the speech pattern and word choice and it was usually Bodie sounding like Starsky, saying things like "ya" instead of 'you', swallowing word endings etc.
It wasn't necessarily the impression I got during the *whole* story, but the occasional glimpse that gave me pause.

I tried this one yesterday and while it's not one of the 'usual' Pros stories, I found I really liked it. After all the death and mayhem of the eps, the angst and h/c of most fics, the lads deserve a holiday, and the reader goes holidaying with them. I for one am glad that they (and I) now have these good memories to come back to when life gets harsh again.
