SGA 5.02: Why am I even bothering anymore?
The less I let myself care about this show, the less it bothers me that the writers often have as little respect for character development and continuity as the fanbrats.

The Pegasus Galaxy doesn't do subtle, does it? Woolsey's all "I'm going to do this by the book," and Pegasus is like, "O RLY?" and then takes his book, plays keepaway with it, and throws it in the fire.

Hair-related spoiler. )

Tentacle-related spoiler. )

The best I can say for this episode is John was really pretty in his white scrubs at the end there.

The days ahead
Today just feels like a good day for some reason. Maybe because I can theoretically sleep in tomorrow and I have some events to look forward to over the weekend. Maybe it's because I finally finished two pieces in enamelling class last night and don't dread Tuesdays and Thursdays so much. Or maybe it's because Tuesday and Thursday is over now.

I have to head out to Superstore tonight to pick up some Dutch cocoa powder and gelatin plus a couple more things, then I am probably going to Winners to pick out a baby gift for Sindy's nephew Tyler. Then I'm going to bake.

Tomorrow will be about frosting the cupcakes (if I don't get to them tonight), seeing Dark Knight in the late morning, and going to Tyler's birthday BBQ in the late afternoon. It will also be my half birthday, but we've already got some cheesecake at home (not for me specifically.

Then, on Sunday, I am heading out to Queensborough with Yvonne and her cousins for a little bit of shopping before heading to their aunt's house in New West for a BBQ. I'm bringing another batch of cupcakes that day so hopefully I won't have to work on them that morning.

Kathleen and I have been trying to find a free weekend to visit Michelle in Victoria, but I don't think I have any until the end of August. This is strange since I've never had so many activities lined up. It's rather insane when it's all on top of my night class!

To say that the Dark Knight is phenomenal is, frankly, selling it short.

I doubt any of you need prompting, but don't miss this one, guys.

Conversations from the shower
L: Daddy, why do you have hair in your butt?
D: When you grow older you start growing hair on your body, like here and here and here ::points to various body parts on himself::
L: ::reaching out:: Why do you have hair on your balls?

It seems like the questions are starting.

I'm debating signing Lucas up for soccer for the fall. It's only $65 registration. You have to buy a ball, shin guards and socks. I don't think that's too bad for two months worth of activities, once a week practice and once a week games. Not that Lucas would really understand much of it, but it does involve two things he likes very much, running and balls. Of course there's the listening part that he doesn't like.

Comic-Con Schedule
Keep in mind, this is a tenative schedule of panels I want to see. There will be conflicts and it's not definite yet which panels I will be attending when the Con comes.

Wednesday, July 23rd

6:00 to 7:30 PM or 7:30 to 9:00 PM: Fringe

JJ Abrams and staff along with a pretty solid cast (John Noble, Joshua Jackson, Lance Reddick, Anna Torv, and Mark Valley) will be hosting a panel and airing the 90-minute pilot episode before its September 9th premiere. Location: Ballroom 20

Thursday, July 24th

10:00 to 11:00 AM: Kings

Exclusive sneak peek at the pilot for this series, which is apparently a contemporary re-imagining the tale of David and Goliath in some kind of kingdom. Greg Grunberg moderates the panel with a cast that includes Ian McShane and Susanna Thompson. Location: Room 6B

The Gene Roddenberry Legacy: Roddenberry in the 21st Century

Rod Roddenberry gives a peek into some projects in development from his famous father, Gene Roddenberry. Location: Room 10

10:45 to 11:45 AM: Re-inventing the Page: Stan Lee and Grant Morrison Talk Virgin Comics

Mainly, I wanna see this panel just to see the legendary man himself, Stan Lee. They are apparently going to talk about the long history and future of the comic book medium, which should be something! Location: Ballroom 20

11:15 to 12:15 PM: 30th Anniversary Battlestar Galactica Panel

No doubt Alfredo will want to head here, as Richard Hatch (the original Apollo, currently Tom Zarek on the re-imagined series), Bear McCreary, and Tom DeSanto (producer for X-Men films) discuss the entire Battlestar Galactica universe. Location: Room 6B

11:30 to 1:00 PM: Previews of new movies The Day The Earth Stood Still and Max Payne

I may not be able to make this if I'm in the Battlestar Galactica panel, but I think it would be neat to check out how they're remaking the 1951 sci-fi classic (which I saw last week). Location: Hall H

12:30 to 1:30 PM: DC: Superman: Man of Tomorrow

A glimpse of what is to come for Superman in comics. Location: Room 6B

1:15 to 2:45 PM: Previews of new movies Push, Knowing, and Twilight

I'm curious about Twilight, which has been generating a lot of internet buzz lately. Hell, all three films' synopses sound fascinating. Location: Hall H

2:00 to 3:00 PM: The Middleman

Premise for the show sounds interesting: a woman gets recruited into a secret agency that fights comic-book-style villains under a shadowy agent called The Middleman. Location: Room 5AB

Red Sonja: One-on-One

Robert Rodriguez and cast host a panel on the re-imagining of the 80's film. Location: Room 6DEF

3:30 to 4:30 PM: Entertainment Weekly's The Visionaries: Comic Creators

Heavyweights like Mike Mignola (creator of the Hellboy comics) will talk about their creations. Location: Room 6A

3:30 to 4:30 PM: Quantum Quest

a 3-D animated film that takes a safari through space, featuring a voice cast the likes of Neil Armstrong, Samuel L. Jackson, William Shatner, Bretn Spiner, Robert Picardo, Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, Sandra Oh, and Jason Alexander. Location: Ballroom 20

4:30 to 5:30 PM: True Blood

A new HBO series from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball. Location: Room 6DEF

6:00 to 7:00 PM: Life, Death, Life of Star Trek

Being a lifelong Star Trek fan, I have to check this out as "Treksperts" talk about the 40-year history of Star Trek in-depth. Location: Room 2

Friday, July 25th

10:00 to 11:00 AM: The OneRing.net: The Hobbit

News pertaining to the Lord of the Rings prequel to be directed by Guillermo del Toro. Location: Room 32AB

11:55 to 1:00 PM: Watchmen panel

What will now turn out to be possibly the marquee event of Friday's programming, anticipation for this film will run high in the wake of the trailer's recent release in front of The Dark Knight. This is a priority for me. Location: Hall H

1:45 to 2:45 PM: Entertainment Weekly's The Visionaries: Showrunners

Heavyweights like Carlton Cuse, Damon Lindelof, Josh Schwartz, Bryan Fuller, and Josh Friedman will discuss genre television from their respective series as showrunners. Location: Room 6DEF

3:30 to 4:15 PM: Family Guy

Seth MacFarlane and Seth Green show an unaired episode and talk about the upcoming spinoff based on the Cleveland character. Location: Ballroom 20

5:15 to 6:15 PM: Entertainment Weekly's The Visionaries: Filmmakers

Panel features Kevin Smith, Zack Snyder, Frank Miller, and Judd Apatow. Enough said. Location: Hall H

6:30 to 7:15 PM: Prison Break panel

The cast and producers talk about the upcoming fourth season. Location: Room 6DEF

10:45 to 12:00 AM: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Joss Whedon's online musical with Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion premieres entirely on the big screen at Comic-Con. Location: Room 6B

Saturday, July 26th

The big day...

10:00 to 10:45 AM: Futurama

Matt Groening and cast talk about the show and gives a sneak peek of "Bender's Game," a new movie based on Futurama's most popular character. Location: Ballroom 20

10:30 to 11:45 AM: Heroes

The premiere of the third season with Tim Kring and cast. Location: Hall H

11:30 to 12:30 PM: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Screening and Panel

The surprise return of one of last season's best shows, the panel will feature executive producers and the cast talking about the show and what's coming for the second season. Location: Room 6A

12:00 to 1:00 PM: Lost

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse talk about the past season. Location: Hall H

12:45 to 1:45 PM: The Office

The writers talk about the series. Location: Room 6A

1:00 to 2:00 PM: Dollhouse

Joss Whedon and cast will talk about the new series to debut in January. Location: Ballroom 20

1:15 to 2:00 PM: Terminator Salvation

The description of the panel sounds like a blurb for the movie so it may end up having to find out what exactly is happening with this panel from the floor of the Con but we'll see. Location: Hall H

2:00 to 3:00 PM: Comics Across Every Medium

Paul Feig, David Goyer, and Whitney Matheson headline this panel on television, film, journalism, and novels involved with comics. Location: Room 6A

2:15 to 3:15 PM: Battlestar Galactica

Priority here. Based on last year's panel, this is gonna be a prime event, especially given that we're in the middle of the final season for the brilliant re-imagined Sci-Fi series. Location: Ballroom 20

2:30 to 3:30 PM: Pixar's Up

A first look at the next Pixar Animation Studios film. Location: Hall H

3:15 to 4:15 PM: Pushing Daisies

The cast joins Bryan Fuller and Barry Sonnenfeld for a Q&A. Location: Room 6A

3:30 to 4:30 PM: Chuck

The cast joins creator/producer Josh Schwartz for a panel and exclusive screening of footage from the upcoming second season. Location: Ballroom 20

4:45 to 5:45 PM: Fringe Q&A

Joining the rest of the California Browncoats to hear about upcoming events and revel in being Firefly and Serenity fans. Location: Room 24A

2:00 to 3:30 PM: Starship Smackdown XI

Just the fact that there are going to be spaceshipologists there is enough to get me interested as a nerd. Location: Room 7AB

4:00 to 5:00 PM: Buffy The Musical

A screening of "Once More With Feeling" in the style of midnight showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show with singalongs and stuff. Sounds like a great party and stupendous way to end Comic-Con. Location: Ballroom 20

My ukulele finally came from Cali today, so I'm sure you can guess what I've been doing all afternoon. As of right now I can play Radiohead's "Creep" and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" without messing up too badly, and, um, "Faith of the Heart" if I have the chords in front of me.

It would be going a lot more smoothly if I didn't insist on using web-based tabs that are obviously wrong and rewriting them as I go, which is not very fun. Or if I, you know, played easier songs.

Also, the strings are in a very silly order, which is upsetting, but I am determined to muddle through anyway because it's such a happy little instrument. Plinkplink.

I think I'm going to bed. I'll have to go to Panera and download Atlantis tomorrow. I need sleeeeeep.

My father just asked me for gas money. WTF?! I haven't got the job yet, and when I do, my gas money will be going through a gas station and into the tank, fool. Furthermore, he wants gas money for allowing me the privilege of driving my sister to work and bringing my aunt, who's stranded while her car's in the shop, to buy groceries. Excuse me?
