TV Opportunity (low key)

  • May. 16th, 2008 at 8:44 PM
Dear all,

You may have seen The Wright Stuff on Ch 5 - weekdays 9 am til 10.30am - it's a live topical debate show with a small studio audience. I've been on a couple of times lately & they have asked if I can bring along a few others. Being able to string a few sentences together on one of the day's issues in case the phone calls dry up is a bonus (but not essential). But the audience they usually get tends to be students, oldies & chavsters so a bunch of goth types would be a good change, I reckon! Even if no speaking is involved, there's usually audience close-ups & it can be quite entertaining...

It involves being at Bayswater by 8am & all finished at 10.30. If anyone is interested please let me know - if a lot of us could go together that would be a bonus, but again not essential. Either reply here or at my email address, ta!

Cheers
Tara

Another vampire programme on tonight

  • Oct. 31st, 2007 at 11:21 AM
With me in it - yes, I'm self-publicizing again :o)
The Discovery channel are screening the programme " Real
Vampires". Not what you may think - this
is a 2 hour scientific documentary looking into whether vampires
could have existed, & the sequence I am in is with a dentist taking
about the feasibility of humans having fangs. So if you want to see
me in a dentists chair with my fake fangs on show getting jawache,
tune in at 9pm tonight on the Discovery channel.
Apparently I got a namecheck about it in The Knowledge colour
magazine arts & entertainment guide that comes with The Times on
Saturday, but didn't find out til today so if anyone has a copy
please can they let me know, ta very much!

American Vampires on BBC4

  • Oct. 31st, 2007 at 12:23 AM
Sorry if this is a little last minute, but the American Documentary called 'American Vampires' is due to be screening on Freeview ITV4 tonight from  12.25am to 1.30am.

Taken from the BBC website: A collection of six short stories exploring the burgeoning subculture in the USA, seeking to understand some people's need to drink human blood in an age when the risks of contracting HIV or hepatitis are so high. Travelling from New York to Cincinnati, the programme takes in a shop devoted to making fangs and a club where patrons can retire to a special `feeding room'

Masque of the Red Death - interactive theatre

  • Sep. 14th, 2007 at 12:14 PM
Some may remember that attempts to arrange an LVG trip to see the
Punchdrunk interactive production of Faust failed miserably due to it
selling out in about 10 minutes. Well, the same company are doing a
production of Masque of the Red Death, in the same interactive style.
You can see more about it here
http://www.bac.org.uk/whatsonresult.php?id=2926
It is on at Battersea, & evening dress is optional so we should make
a vamp-tastic effort!
To avoid the sellout situation we had last time, I have bought 10 tickets to then sell on a first- come, first served basis. These are £30 each (cheapest option) & are for Wednesday, 5th December at 7.45pm entry. So let me know if you'd like to come along!

Grant Museum Trip - next Tuesday!

  • Aug. 16th, 2007 at 3:35 PM
Another reminder of the details for this trip, for much peering at
things in jars & going "Ew!"...

The plan is to meet up for 6pm at the Fitzroy Tavern on Charlotte
Street - a decent pub, in case anyone wants to get there earlier for
a swift pint beforehand! From there it is only a short walk to the
museum, & we will be aiming to arrive just before 6.30pm.
Entrance to the museum will be on Malet Place (runs parallel to
Gower Street) at that time due to construction work, so if anyone is
running late, head there. Map here

Grant Museum Trip for LVG

  • Jul. 23rd, 2007 at 3:21 PM
I'm pleased to confirm that the nice people at the Grant Museum have
agreed to open the place `specially for us on the evening of Tuesday
21st August, from 6.30pm onwards. This means that those of us with
day jobs don't need to take time off work, and that we get the place
to ourselves! We also get a glass of wine, a short talk from one of
the staff, and to look around at our leisure for a couple of hours.
I need to confirm numbers with them so if you'd like to come along
please can you let me know either via an LJ comment, the egroup or directly, and I'll finalise details with everyone nearer the time.
As a reminder, the Museum website is www.ucl.ac.uk/museums/zoology
"Retaining an air of the avid Victorian collector, the museum
contains cases packed full of skeletons, mounted animals and
specimens preserved in fluid; dating back to 1827, the museum covers
the whole of the animal kingdom. Many of the specimens are now
endangered or extinct, including theTasmanian tiger, or thylacine,
the quagga and the dodo."
Cheers

New issue

  • Apr. 22nd, 2007 at 9:03 PM
The new magazine, Chronicles II.6 is at the printers right now and is
likely to be out to members in the first week of May. Some changes this
time are that we have more advertising, which will bring in more
revenue, and that we are offering a subscription to those who may wish
to take only the magazine and not take up full membership of the London
Vampyre Group. This is basically a decision we took for financial
reasons and to ensure we get a stable readership. This edition, Nancy is
making her debut as the layout editor and this is part of our policy of
making sure we work as a real team.
Our thanks go out to all writers and suppliers of material as, without
your help, we couldn't do any of this. Next issue will be out by the
middle of October so your deadline for articles is the third week in
September. Anyone who is going to write for the literary supplement is
encouraged to so very soon as we really need some material for the next
one.
As ever, we are always trying to get more outlets for the magazine, if
you have any opportunities in your area, please investigate and tell us
about them. If you know of anyone who wants to advertise then let me
know. Also, any feedback on the new issue will be welcome......
