9:21 am - Over 30 Hammer Horror films to be restored with lost scenes

Hammer have announced an ambitious restoration project in tandem with STUDIOCANAL, Anolis Entertainment (Germany), Pinewood, illuminate Hollywood fka HTV and others to bring over 30 films from the Hammer Horror back catalogue into the high definition age.

First up is Dracula: Prince Of Darkness, starring Christopher Lee in his definitive role and leading ‘scream queen’ Barbara Shelley, which is set for a Blu-ray release in March 2012, with footage originally cut by squeamish censors finally restored.

The lost Dracula footage was restored by the BFI in 2007, and supplied by The National Film Center at The Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and shows a death scene for Lee’s titular Count that was considered “too erotic” for moviegoers of the day.

Other titles confirmed are The Reptile and The Plague Of The Zombies in the Spring, and The Devil Rides Out,Rasputin The Mad Monk and The Mummy’s Shroud later in the year.

Also lined up for future release are The Legend Of The 7 Golden VampiresCaptain Kronos Vampire Hunter,Frankenstein And The Monster From HellFrankenstein Created WomanThe WitchesThe Lost ContinentSlave GirlsThe Viking Queen and The Vengeance Of She.

All films are being remastered from the original negatives and given a plethora of bonus features.

2:51 pm - Modpost

Hello all!

I have noticed a lot of spambots posting on LJ communities lately, including one post just now on another community which I moderate. So I am taking the precaution of putting all the communities which I maintain onto moderated membership for the time being, including this one. Hopefully it should not cramp anybody's style too much, as this is a fairly quiet comm anyway. I'll add a note to the userinfo page to say that membership is moderated, and with any luck that will stop the problem.

As you were!

12:27 am - Bond Girls Assemble with Sir Christopher

From Shadowlocked.com:

"The largest bevy of Bond-girls ever gathered in one place is claimed for FanFest at the London Film Museum on the weekend of 24th April."

"Tickets that are selling fastest are those for Sir Christopher Lee, who'll be accepting a lifetime achievement award from Cinema Retro Magazine and giving a Q&A session."

XD Sir Chris is as popular as ever, it would seem.

Further information and booking details are available at the FanFest site.

9:04 am - That's 'SIR Christopher' to you

Many congratulations to Christopher Lee on finally getting that knighthood. I'm sure he'll be annoyed by all the news headlines referring to him as 'horror actor' or 'Dracula star'. But I expect the new title will sugar the pill. :-)

I posted the video clips from CL's appearance in the interactive Rocky Horror video game. However, this gets very Rocky Horror itself.

6:49 pm - Hello!

I am so pleased to meet you all!

Oh I love Christopher Lee for so many reasons.  Not only is he a talented actor, but he's tall, dark, handsome, intelligent...and that voice!   I could listen to him read the entire phone book to me.  He is absolutely my favorite actor, bar none.  I own Rhapsody cds because of the man.

My very favorite movie of his would have to be The Wicker Man.  Other favorites include The Mummy, Theatre of Death, Gormenghast, The Lord of the Rings, and The Last Unicorn.

There are so many movies of his I'm dying to see including: Jinnah, The Devil Rides Out, and Cowboys for Christ!

current mood: happy

I squeed from the Anthill Inside3 logo on loading to the little octarine sparkles round Great A'Tuin. So David Jason is too old to be Rincewind, and Sean Astin is not Japanese enough to be Twoflower... THEY CAST C LEE AS DEATH!!!!!4

(Am X-posting this in all sorts of places, but restricting the comments to one post, mainly for my own sanity. That post is this one)

1 Those of you who know me of old know that I used to roleplay Argus Filch, with great joy and gusto, and I am so stoked to see the actor get another good part he can get his teeth (troll denshures or otherwise) into.

2 Yes, I am fully aware of what Pterry has to say about people who use multiple exclamation marks, thank you.

3 Because it's so clearly based on Paul Kidby's artwork YAY!

4 Yes, OK, I'm getting a bit Salzella now, I shall stop. Still, SQUEEEEEEEE!!!

3:10 pm - Rocky Horror Interactive Game

I got the Rocky Horror Interactive Game.

It sucks! As a computer game it sucks. As a Rocky Horror tie-in it sucks.

However, the videos of CL alone are worth what I paid.

The Time Warp

Even when camping it up, CL turns in a good performance

Ultra-camped-up, CL still classy!

My wife and I love these videos!

3:02 pm - Got eye's !?

Just got a heads up from Tom, the custom glass eyes have arrived, they
came in a set of two, a lighter and a darker color.
Of course I picked the darker ones (no brainer).
By the way, if anyone else is interested in having something like this
done, don't hesitate to contact Tom @

For a project of your own...just a note though >>this does not come cheap<<
but is well worth it !!!
You know what they say.. you live only ones, correct !!??
So...Go fo it ;)
