Angels and love

[info]amergina posted some questions about angels about a week or two ago, and I realized I had some of my own questions...

Well, to put it simply:

1. Traditionally, do angels have gender? Or are they genderless? I've heard that they are genderless, but don't you think that they would have gender as being part of nature? I would think that some are male and some are female. But, that's just my view. What's the traditional view?

2. Milton says that angels make love. That they can turn into either gender and make pure love like two liquids mixing. What would Christianity say to that? Hmmm...

Thanks in advance :D

a little story

A couple people in [info]amergina's angels thread from yesterday requested that I share my story of seeing an angel. So, here it is!

Well, those of you who read my personal journal know that I didn't exactly have the best of times in Catholic grade school, which I attended for grades 1 - 4 and 6. I'll spare y'all the long tale (most of it is here and here if you really want to know), but suffice it to say that I was mostly miserable every school day throughout three of those five years, and was little better off during the other two. Some days were worse than others.

One day, in second or third grade (I'm thinking it was probably the latter), I was having a particularly bad day. I don't remember exactly why, but I do remember being in the church, sitting alone in a pew and staring at my feet and feeling awful. It's funny that I don't remember the details of exactly when or why I was there, but I still remember what happened next like it was yesterday.

Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye I saw movement, some kind of brightness. This was late afternoon (as far as I remember) in the church while nothing was going on, so the lights were off, and the only light was coming in through the stained-glass windows; thus, it was rather dark inside. I looked up, and there was green light dancing on the wall to my right.

At first I thought it was just light coming through the windows, but I remember looking, and it was the wrong side of the church for that at that particular time of day. It looked like light reflecting off a pool of water, wavy and shimmering. There was, of course, no pool of water there for light to be reflecting from.

I looked back at the green light, and all of a sudden I felt an immense sense of peace wash over me; all my anxiety and hurt and misery were simply gone. For the first time in a long time, I felt content. At that moment, I knew that I was seeing an angel. Now, of course, I can't explain that rationally, and I really have no idea if angels even appear as dancing green light on a stone wall, but I knew down to my very heart that it was an angel. I still know that.

I don't remember the rest of the day, or even how long I saw the light. I didn't tell anyone about this for many years, because I was afraid that they wouldn't believe me, would think I was either making stuff up or just plain crazy. Eventually I told my mother, and I think she believed me.

So yes, I saw an angel when I was about nine. I can still see that dancing green light when I close my eyes and remember.

Angels

Ok, the "After You Die" quiz reminded me of these question:

What are angels?

Can angels sin/do they have free will? What happens if they do sin (assuming they can)?

Can humans become angels?

Do you believe that you have a guardian angel? Have you ever felt its presence?

Is there scriptural support for the involvement of angels in our lives?

Do you think they actually eat angel food cake?

A question on supernatural beings.

Do you think it makes sense to believe in angels and not believe in demons/Satan? Or does that seem inconsistent?

This is something I've been pondering for a few days, as I've spoken to a fair few people (perhaps including myself, although I don't know) who cannot believe in demons, and yet are happy to believe in angels. I wondered whether any of you have any thoughts on the matter. :) Sorry for the short post, but I think it's all contained in the question!

Yesterday I went to a men's group of my church. I was troubled as I went there, because I was assaulted by demons again. After all, I will get baptized in spring or summer this year, and the devil doesn't want me to become part of the Body. He knows then he will have lost me to his evil cause.

Anyway, as I said I was troubled. But then me and the guys who picked me up with the car stopped at the house of the group. As we were approaching the door I looked and saw a man of light with a strict face at the door. I knew, this was an angel guarding the house. And suddenly I looked behind my shoulder and saw a black figure shunning to go further and slipping away into the darkness. And as I went through the door, there was like a warm wind and I had small vision of a friendly saint giving me a friendly handshake and guiding me through the door.

Praised be God for guarding our congregations with His mighty angels and protecting us from evil so that we may dwell in security and can worship God in peace!

Hello again.

I was wondering if anyone here had any personal experience with demons or angels that were really obvious? Has anyone seen either or had physical contact...or something like it? Some weird things have happened to me and of course no one believes me or the people who might believe it don't want to hear about it (my family mostly). I'm sure I'm not the only one but it's really unnerving to feel really isolated with it?

Some people argue with me that it never happened or play it off as dreaming. Maybe it is? My accounts were all convincingly real to me.
