Yesterday afternoon:

Me: (getting the mail)
Landlord: (drives up) Hi! Any birthday cards?
Me: (thinking 'How does he know?') Um..no..why?
Landlord: It's my birthday today!
Me: Oh, really? Awesome! Mine's tomorrow!
Landlord: Really?
Me: Yes! Happy birthday! You're turning...25?
Landlord: 24!
Me: Wow, you're making me feel old.

And no, I didn't tell him what age I would be turning.

JD 'sang' Happy Birthday to my Facebook inbox this morning. :) That was a nice way to start my morning.

My family is definitely celebrating!  My Daddy is back home...wooo-hooo!  He's had such a rough journey to get to this point and all indications are he will have an even rougher time ahead of him.  But, right now, we are rejoicing.

Why I'm Destined to Be an Older British Man's Trophy Wife

(Note: In order to qualify, said gentleman must be at least twenty years older than me.)

I almost made a very scandalous (for me, at least) joke here. )

Well, that was bracing.

Who's your favorite Older British Man?

I love all of these characters, but if there's one you'd like me to elaborate on as to why I like them or giving a favorite quote or what have you, leave me a comment!

Don't let me down London [Sep. 6th, 2008|09:25 am]

benji
I'm on the train just outside Reading and so far, although there are some rain clouds around.. it's been sunny and dry. I'm just hoping that as I get to the industrial stuff closer to the city things don't change. Or else it doesn't turn five to two and decide to rain cats and dogs. Although if it does I'll do my best not to step in a poodle :D

[Current Music |lots of good stuff XD]

Dear Dad,
School as started, and I feel a bit more at home. I realized the reason of my "slacky" schedule. You knew me the best, before I can even try to know me or what my Life schedule's going to be. You know, I thank you for the schedule I have now. I got time slots that I can really make good use of. Father, you knew before I did that I will be involved in many activities. I did started to panic a bit because I looked at all the things that will be due and once school really starts to kick in gear, Lord , I REALLY don't know if I can handle it.

That was my thought.... but then I remembered that You wouldn't put me through something that I wouldn't be able to do. Lord, sometimes I forget about little things like that but I'm always happy that I can recollect that you are GREAT and AWESOME  and that you SUPER Love me and that's totally what counts.

And You know what dad? I am happy about the things I'm involved in. Although at the start of the month I was kind of overwhelmed but I believe that you put me in these situations for a reason. I thank you for putting me on the DCF Exec. I learned new things about how to really ... not just hold meetings and stuff but to always make sure what ones goal is, to make the group worthwhile, to strive for one goal or few goals. It's important to know the big picture that you are painting us.

I'm excited for DCF and Dad, I want to ask you to send more friends or brothers and sisters along who are willing to come and who you want to teach or who you want us to disciple and make their faith stronger in you.

Father, although I feel discouraged sometimes, I thank you for making me a positive person so that I can just kick myself in the butt and just rebound from that.

I will hit MANY walls and MANY giants... but I will survive :) because you are good. Father ... for DCF, I pray that we can really learn a lot this year and that the topics that we will still have to decide will be totally your will and that everyone can benefit from it. And Father, you put something in my heart about Evangelism and prayer.

About that, well... Father, lead me please. I did talk to Rachel and you were there. I got some ideas but I would totally love to start it ... so father, PLEASE send me people who are interested or just BRING me people who you want to learn from this. Lord, I don't care if they themselves are willing or not BUT if it's your will , it shall be done right? And so that would take me to another point and that would be... I need your guidance for this group... although it hasn't started yet and I might have some difficulties about starting this group because apparently people are afraid of Evangelism... I think it's exciting but I too don't know how to go about it "smoothly" or comfortably. So I want you to show me and I give you TOTAL control of my heart so I am open to your words and that I will understand you.

Lord, about our Youth Fellowship. I'm so wet behind the ears. So, please guide me and the others. And I think that even with just three people, Lord, you will do great stuff as long as we work hard for you right? And I believe that you have awesome plans for us :D All of us.

Now on that note Lord, please bring people to our church, bring those who are seeking you Lord! I mean it's always nice to get to know new friends :)

Father! Have you heard that I am a student representative for the east? For IVCF? Yeah, I'm excited for that :D I look forward to it :) I can't wait to meet new people and to learn from others. So, I thank you! for this opportunity! :D

Dad, you know my courses, you know my fear...  but I shall lift those up to you... and just GOD help me in essay writing ... please Lord I definitely need to step up and ask people to help me or not to be afraid of writing. I am SO scared of writing to the point of detesting it. So ... Help me Dad. I think you are the best person to ask for help for ... help me get help whenever I need it. Let me know where to go.

Also, Dad, today was the day where You have shown me to the brothers and sisters who made a difference in my spiritual life and I thank you again and again :) People might not know or understand that they are special to me but it was you God who made this happen and I'm SO super duper happy about that because... .... because of this, that's why I have faith in you God. This was the proof one year ago that you are truly there for me. Watching out for me, answering my prayers. You know when and how to talk to me and I thank you for that!

I can't imagine, how I would continue to live in ignorance of you Lord. I am happy that I am not ignorant in this matter!

Dad, for this year. I hope to learn practical stuff, that I can grow to be a more mature Christ follower, that I can be a positive person to people around me, that I can make people think! This year I don't want to be afraid to do stuff.... God keep pushing me! Meet new people. Know how to talk to people. Be more patient and loving.

Father, last year I meet a lot of people ... or they met me... I guess and I just didn't do to well. I ask for the same thing this year BUT I also ask that you will be with me when that happens and guide me Lord... I definitely can't do stuff alone and ... well,,, you know what happens.... so yeah... just a heads up  ok?

I thank you for all the things you have done for me now and in the future.

God you are great and awesome! And I love you!

  2)  Mortimer Brewster from Arsenic and Old Lace, played by Cary Grant.

3)  Mick St. John (my favorite vamp...how 'bout you??)

  4)  Montgomery Scott (can everybody say, "Beam me up, Scotty!)

  5)  Ian McKellan....as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings

Okay, that's my five.  Someone let me know if I've done this incorrectly!  OBTW, what does "meme" stand for anyway??

Nothing super serious going on here. I'm leaving in a minute to take OS to his dad's for the wknd and then take YS to see Journey to the Center of the Earth. I have a Spanish exam on Monday (ick!) and some reading to do for homework this weekend. Plus, I work tomorrow. I've been suffering from a sinus infection since last weekend. Went to the doc yesterday and got medicine for it. Plus last weekend I screwed up my back and it is still tender somewhat. Today we finally had the plumber out so I can take a bath (instead of a shower) to see if that helps any. And I am still reading Breaking Dawn. I'm just over halfway through it now. I had read several comments on it that there were a lot of deaths in the book, but so far no one has died, so I am wondering about that. Anyway, I should go and get my stuff done!

Fuck it. [Sep. 5th, 2008|06:16 pm]

Well there's one sure fire way to feel rotten. That would be to have everyone bail out on you for your stag do. Seems no one can be assed to go. Makes me feel well loved that does. I'm not really bitching at anyone because I can understand most people are skint (me included) and I have left it somewhat late to get people together, my best man who's really in charge of it has been in Newcastle so it's hard to get stuff together. But yeah it is looking like me and him and an old school friend and that's about it. So I'm not sure what to say. It's doesn't seem worthwhile doing the paintball thing, so we'll probably just go to some bars and maybe get me wasted, in all honesty the one thing I wanted to avoid. All the people I consider good friends I haven't spoken to in forever, or else they live the other side of the country (and in some cases, other side of the planet) or else I work with them and they're nothing more than acquaintences.

So yeah. I'm feeling somewhat shitty at the moment. I guess no matter what happens weather wise tomorrow I'll be making it count because it really will be my main bash before the big bash. So yeah bring it the fuck on!

And my joke for the day :) [Sep. 5th, 2008|01:48 pm]

benji
This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using cold water to clean. John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of West Virginia .

After spending a great evening chatting the night away, John's grandfather prepared breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking, 'Are these plates clean?' His grandfather replied, 'They're as clean as cold water can get them.Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!'
For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, John was concerned about the plates as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, 'Are you sure these plates are clean?' Without looking up the old man said, 'I told you before,

Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don't you fret, I don't want to hear another word about it!'
Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfather's dog started to growl, and wouldn't let him pass.

John yelled and said, 'Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car'.
Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted .
"COLDWATER, GO LAY DOWN!!!!"

Stupidity of the week part 3 [Sep. 5th, 2008|01:38 pm]

benji
I mean seriously. You're pissed off cause your train didn't get you to work today and you miss a day of work.

So what do you do, complain to those in power? Scream your head off? Walk?

No you trash the train so you'll probably not get to work all week.

HOLY SHIT... I don't think I've ever seen anything just so amazing on youtube. A 5 part series that certainly is not a waste of 30 minutes. It just does everything so perfectly, funny yet a little bit shocking and a little bit emotive. It's just... wow!

It's probably old news to most but I'm pretty much awed!

It's mildly not safe for work, swearing and some slightly dodgy puke, some harsh issues and psychological elements.

Part 1 of the puppet rapist. You can click on it to get parts 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Mika was offered a fantastic job as Safety Officer for a nation-wide contracting company owned by the Native Tribes (I think). He will be working on a job site in Ft. Lewis through April or May and then we will decide if he will stay with them and be transferred to another job site (either locally or non-locally), or seek another position with a different company.

He's really excited about the position because it is a large increase in pay, it is the career path that he is wanting to follow, and it gives him the opportunity to build up his safety experience. Also, because they are a nation-wide company, there is the possibilty that we could transfer out of state to follow his career and I could work part-time, or not at all, and focus more on my writing.

Wouldn't that be a dream come true?

My writing has slowed down this week because my younger brother is visiting from out of state, but I have been planning the novel that I aim to write for the National November Novel Writing Month. It will be my first one, ever, and so it is a little daunting. But I know that as long as I have an exciting story in mind, I can do anything I set in motion! Besides that, it will be nice to write something new. I haven't done that for ages.....
