Okay, AFTER TRYING TO UPLOAD IT ALL FREAKIN WEEK....IT IS FINALLY UPLOADED AND HERE!!!
This is my first official attempt at a video where I am focusing on the motion and musicality of the video. The song is not the most incerdible song I have ever worked with but it seems to fit the seductive and dangerous side of the film I was trying to capture by focusing on Jared Leto's character 'Ray Fernandez'. This is the first time I have made a video about someone who actually existed...let alone a serial killer.
This film was incredibly conflicting for me as I found myself feeling sympathy for Ray at the end of the film- probably due to the acting and the actor portraying the character. But in the end, there is a real sense that the life he came to live was not by his own choice. I wouldnt've minded feeling this way except the character is based on a real serial killer. I tried to capture this confliction within the character, which I think is best seen at 3:20 minutes...and also the clips of Ray from then on out in the film and the video.
One of the most pivotal scenes in the film was omitted from my video, deliberately, which I have outlined below if you are interested to know what it was and my reasoning behind it ;)
Hopefully you watch this video as its one of the most experimental videos I have ever made and actually the longest video I have ever made. Even if you have never seen the movie, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The film stars Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, James Gandolfini and Scott Caan ;)
