New Video!!- The Fear
Okay, AFTER TRYING TO UPLOAD IT ALL FREAKIN WEEK....IT IS FINALLY UPLOADED AND HERE!!!

This is my first official attempt at a video where I am focusing on the motion and musicality of the video. The song is not the most incerdible song I have ever worked with but it seems to fit the seductive and dangerous side of the film I was trying to capture by focusing on Jared Leto's character 'Ray Fernandez'. This is the first time I have made a video about someone who actually existed...let alone a serial killer.

This film was incredibly conflicting for me as I found myself feeling sympathy for Ray at the end of the film- probably due to the acting and the actor portraying the character. But in the end, there is a real sense that the life he came to live was not by his own choice. I wouldnt've minded feeling this way except the character is based on a real serial killer. I tried to capture this confliction within the character, which I think is best seen at 3:20 minutes...and also the clips of Ray from then on out in the film and the video.

One of the most pivotal scenes in the film was omitted from my video, deliberately, which I have outlined below if you are interested to know what it was and my reasoning behind it ;)

Hopefully you watch this video as its one of the most experimental videos I have ever made and actually the longest video I have ever made. Even if you have never seen the movie, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The film stars Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, James Gandolfini and Scott Caan ;)

Comprehensive X-Files Movie Review
This is me getting it all out of my system. 2,500+ words later, I feel better now lol.

Warning: Do I really have to warn you that there are spoilers? But I will caution you: if you're looking for a mushy gushy, how-much-I-loved-the-movie sort of review, you will not find that here.

I want to believe that multiple viewings will eventually endear this movie to me )

...Despite all I've just said, I'm actually looking forward to seeing it a third time next week. Like a good fan should, I'm bringing my family with me. That will be a total of 9 tickets purchased for the cause. I highly doubt that there will be a sequel, but I'm not giving up.

Feel free to debate some points with me if you will. This movie features a lot of things that can be perceived as either good or bad, and if you think you can resolve a question or issue I have, I'd love to hear it. If you liked the movie, I'm happy for you. I wish I liked it like you do!

Laundry adventures
I just pulled my bras out of the washing machine (yes, yes, I should hand wash my lady things, but I'm lazy and these aren't exactly my top of the line bras) and one of them is minus one underwire, no sign of it in the washer. I'm scared. >.>

ETA: Still Totally the best day ever. I've been fawning over a pair of boots forever and they're always out of stock in my size. I log into gmail see a suspicious looking mail from "Info" with the subject "The information you requested.." Looks very shaddy, no? I investigate anyway and it's a notification that MY BOOTS ARE IN STOCK, but there is only three of them left. I rush to the page, ONE LEFT. THEY ARE MINE, BWHAHAHHAHAHAAAA. Rounded toe, knee length, 3-inch heel. I'm SO happy.

I am so glad I made this icon the other day, Perfect for the post.

Today's Recipe
Today's Brunch (and new recipe) is

Cheddar and Bacon Cornmeal Waffles Benedict
Recipe )

Results: C+ The waffles were definitely lacking something, probably that buttermilk flavor, definitely needed more salt. I would use half the chives called for and top the dish with fresh ones if I felt it needed more. The cheese sauce was excellent. My poached eggs were okay, eggs were a little old so there was some exciting cloudyness, of course I didn't really drop them into the water right >.> Overall, the whole dish needed a lot more salt to be interesting, and maybe something else all together, tabasco? I don't know.

Icons are serious business... kinda.
Ok so I've never seen the UK version of Life on Mars but the fact ABC is remaking it just strikes me as an epic FAIL. I'm sorry I just don't get why they even bother Americanizing shows, since 9 times out of 10 it is a train wreck. That 1 that succeeded being The Office. I'm bovvered.

So I've been watching golf all morning (the parents are fanatics). At least I got brunch out of it, bagels, coffee, scrambled eggs and bacon= awesome. And I want Greg Norman to win.

What else? I wrote a Tony/Effy ficlet, I don't know why their relationship appeals to me, don't throw things. They just have this sweet undercurrent to them, which considering how f'ed up everyone in the show is, is brilliant.

I made a big icon post @ [info]blessings_burns, and I'm actually really happy with them, which is a shocker. I want to put together a tutorial or guide or something but I guess I'm a little hesitant. Its not because what I do is amazing but I guess its that its what I do. I don't really follow tutorials, I learn about a tool and I play around with it, I'm not an amazingly technical person, I just put a lot of time into experimenting. I guess doing a tutorial makes me nervous, I don't really know how I would explain most of the stuff and I don't really want someone to make a ton of icons following the tutorial step by step. Which I guess is always a possibility because even though most people wouldn't do it step by step, some would. I don't know, I'm thinking maybe I could put together some sort of epic resource/guide and pass on the stuff I've learned about certain tools rather than a step by step tut.

101 in 1001 Update
I started my 101 in 1001 goals this week and progress has been made!

21) Make 100 icons for fun, not icontests (39/100) 39 new icons, if you have my icon journal thingy and communities on your list, I'm sorry for all the spam.

22) Read 100 non-fiction books. (0/100) I am currently reading William Shatner's autobiography, not sure if that really counts, but there it is. It's an interesting read, guy is an ego maniac and it's more like reading a love letter to himself.

23) Watch 100 movies and write about each one (1/100) Saw The Dark Knight today, have written a review but won't post it until tomorrow because I'm ultra spammy today.

26) Read at least half the books on my list of “to read” books. (1/xxx) I read A Raisin in the Sun at Michelangelo's while waiting to hear back from some friends.

30) Floss every day (7/1001) So far, so good.

59) Always order water instead of juice/soda when eating out, out for drinks being an exception. So far, so good. I need to get better about drinking water instead of juice at home though, it's juice, it shouldn't be bad for me! Wahh!
68) Try 100 new restaurants and Yelp about them Yelped about Pancake Cafe

92) Use Re-Usable bags for weekly grocery shopping (1/140) and 94) Buy Local Produce Cloth bags at the farmer's market. I can't find my India bag though, which makes me sad. I bought Basil and Tomatoes that I am turning into marinara and a salad tonight which will go towards 3) Try 101 new recipes (0/101) as it's a new marinara recipe.

Things I haven't been doing:
9) Draw at least one full illustration every week (0/143) Failed!
35) Keep a Food diary Not even once! Fail!
37) Keep up regular eyebrow wax appointments Whoops >.>
87) Wash at least 5 dishes every time I pass an un-empty sink. This is probably going to be my hardest one. I LOATHE doing dishes, and there is currently a spider by the sink...
90) Never let trash sit on my desk. Gum Wrappers, water glasses and a soda can! Fail!!

Motion...Mamma Mia & GO SAINTS!!!
Okay, so I am currently making a video about Jared Leto's character in the film "Lonely Hearts"...yes I'm obsessed...but I am trying to experiment with motion and making a simpler edited video. Its a lot harder than I thought. The film has some great visuals and my thought process at the moment is that effects won't utulise the movies pretty scenary, camera angles and general setting. Plus, Leto's acting in this film is excellent and he has some great facial expressions and visual acting- also think its pretty impressive that he plucked the hairs from his head in order to play Ray Fernandez, one half of the Lonely Hearts killers (who were actual serial killers in the 40's). Does anyone have any tips for focusing your editing on motion because I am paranoid that its going to look extremely shitty and unproffessional?

Went and saw Mamma Mia yesterday...finally...I absolutely loved it! I was so suprised that Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep managed to sing soooo well, especially Amanda Seyfried. I currently have "SOS" by Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan doing re-runs in my head. hehe. I highly reccomend the movie...though I recognise it wouldnt be for everyone haha.

Last night I went to the football to see St.Kilda and Hawthorn...to put it in perspective St.Kilda is 9th on the ladder, Hawks are 3rd....AND WE WON!! The atmosphere was absolutely incredible...seriously...mind-blowing...and I got to see some of the players who weren't playing...including Fraser Gehrig and Matt Maguire...which I was soooo exicted about. My heart was seriously coming out of my chest as I was walking back to my seat. It was a total accident that I saw Maguire as well...as I'd given up and was walking back to my seat, while texting, happened to look up and saw him...needless to say someone went technicolour. Yep...it was me :P

Anyways, hopefully I can finish my "Lonely Hearts" soon and can figure out the nack to motion editing...man I hope this video turns out alright!
