childfree_zone, a community for the childfree - people who have decided not to ever become parents. Anyone who is childfree, as well as anyone considering, wishing to learn about, or discuss childfreedom, is welcome here...provided they abide by our policies.
You will notice that our policies are different from other communities in two ways: Firstly, that you may join or comment even if you yourself are not childfree but only if your remarks are respectful and on topic. Secondly, posts that are essentially about children are not allowed, be they positive or negative.
Although being PC is not what these policies are about (see below), if you don't want to read about kids, or you don't like the 'child-bashing' sometimes found in other communities, you will likely findchildfree_zone a pleasant place to be.

Rules:
Stay On-Topic! This community is a child-free zone, meaning it is intended to discuss matters pertaining to the decision to not become a parent. Some suggested topics include: birth control options, your relationship with your childfree s/o, the benefits of childfreedom, childfreedom and religion, childfreedom and the media, reproductive rights, laws or events that may affect our reproductive freedom, experiences with healthcare providers (bad or good), your reasons for being childfree, how childfreedom affects your life in general, and much much more.
Please do not discuss children, and that includes rants; see below.
No posts or rants about kids...and no, it's not about 'not offending anyone'. CFZ is a 'rant-free zone' for two reasons: Foremost, some of us feel there's more than enough talk about kids everywhere else, and we don't want to read about kids in a childfree community. If you'd rather not read about kids, this is the place for you. Secondly, if you've been in childfree circles long enough, you've probably seen and heard it all as far as the rants go. If you're looking for discussion and information without the 'clutter' of rants in between, this is the place for you.
Blowing off steam is totally OK and we recognize everyone's need to do it. Please don't do it here. There are plenty of great communities on LJ that allow rants, however; scroll down and check out the list of related communities.
No drama. Debate is great but drama and wank is totally unwelcome here. If you wish to debate, attack the idea and not the person. You can criticize without insult and debate without fighting, or you can get your posts deleted or possibly be banned. This is a respectful, mature place. Likewise, refrain from the use of derogatory language or ad-hominem attacks on anyone, be they fellow LJers or not.
No spam. Hit-and-run advertisements are not allowed and posting them will get you banned. Community promotion with permission only!
Introductions welcome! We are a small enough community that introductions are acceptable, provided they aren't long.
Other Information:
This community is for those who are childfree, but you may comment and discuss anything relating to childfreedom even if you do not consider yourself childfree. Some other communities automatically turn away anyone who is not childfree. I would like parents, wanna-be parents, and the undecided to have a forum in which they can ask questions about childfreedom if they wish. Parents, please be respectful of our wishes and decisions. That means refraining from telling us things such as "you'll change your mind" or "it's different when it's your own".
I would like to ask that no one join unless they are childfree, but I realize I have no real way of regulating this, so join if you like, and as long as your posts and comments are both on-topic and respectful you will be allowed to stay. However, if you are or want to become a parent, there are other communities geared more for you. Please give them a look. You will be referred elsewhere if we feel you aren't a good 'fit' for the community.
Note:childfree_zone is under new management that has no connection whatsoever to any past drama that CFZ, its former administration, or its members may have been involved in. childfree_zone is a drama-free zone.
