Assault at IHOP
Have to share this.

I was in the waiting area at IHOP and out of the blue, this grimmy, slippery, tentacle little hand reached up and grabbed my hand. EWWW I flinched automatically and said "EWW a kid touched me!" real loud.

Well right then the moo looked over and gave me this horrible mean glare. Like.. HOW DARE YOU not want to get touched by my spawn.


All I can say is that I laughed the whole way to the bathroom to clean off those germs and whatever stikyness that comes from a 5 year old.

Not to mention, germ material, especially in this season where they tell you to wash your hands often and there aren't enough flu shots to go around.

I would've screamed "OHMYGOD DON'T LET HER/HIM TOUCH ME I'VE GOT AIDS/HEPATITIS/TUBERCULOSIS/EBOLA/WHATEVER!!" but I dunno, other people might not appreciate that much. Perhaps amend it to "OHMYGOD DON'T LET HER/HIM TOUCH ME I'M ON CHEMO AND MY IMMUNE SYSTEM IS CRAP AND IF I GET GERMS I COULD DIE!!"

I was at IHOP once and there were two kids in the booth behind me giggling the whole time. Eventually, the crayons they were playing with went flying and once landed on our table. My roommate said my expression looked murderous. She giggled because she said she remembered what it was like to be a kid. I never did shit like THAT when I was a kid. And these kids were, like, 8. Old enough to know better.

See, I can see being grossed out. I spaz when people I don't know touch me. I'm a very big 'this is my bubble, you do not mess with my bubble' sort of person. *snicker* I thought it was kinda funny, and the sort of thing I'd do.

Well...I'd freak if ANY stranger touched me--NO one does that without permission, thank you, unless they want their fingers broken or at the least a very icy look. But especially a stranger who's likely to be germy, during a contagious season, and have sticky pancake-syrup fingers... *shudder*

I freak when anybody touches me. Maybe you don't mind being groped by strangers, but quite a few people do.

Especially strangers with icky, slimy, sticky hands because they've been munching on candy or chips and mummy dearest hasn't bothered to wash their hands off.

This is kind of a tricky one. IHOP is a family-friendly restaurant, and if you choose to go there, you have to be prepared to tolerate the presence of children. On the other hand, the incident you describe does go a bit beyond what you should realistically be expected to tolerate.

I dunno. I'm not above eating at IHOP occasionally. It's a decent place for a good, quick, reasonably-priced bite. I just tend to think that if I do choose to go to places like that, I forfeit my right to bitch about kids. Upscale restaurants and my favorite little hole-in-the-wall dives, on the other hand...

Eh, not really. Its IHOP, its akin to Denny's or other diners. I think you have every right to bitch about misbehaving kids in it. I mean, we're not talking Chuck E' Cheese, or even McDonald's. Besides, it may be all some people can afford when dining out, so it would suck to have their experience ruined.

Hell, when I was little, it didn't matter where we were eating, we were taught that we best behave, or we'd be in deep trouble.

Actually, when I go anywhere I expect to see kids misbehaving.. just a part of the world we live in. grocery is the worse. I was just commenting because when i was touched I flinched without even thinking (and got glared at it). I didn't 'bitch' about it, just want to relate the funny story.

I minored in psychology if that helps. Actually wanted to double major in it. (found it easy and interesting)

If it makes you feel any better I didn't major in psychology.. so I won't be helping other's with their emotional problems. But in one of my classes, the professor said that most psychologists/psychiatrists get into psychology to find out answers to their own problems.. and thus are a bit nutty in general.

/therapy is for quitters
