So, after all the hubub and drama at this little nook on the web, I got fed up of the CF being censored but the parents not, and created my own little nook on the web.

And the admin of that BB will delete any posts containing a link to another BB (except in her own signature, which links to a closed discussion board ONLY for mothers), so I am advertising here.

I also want intelligent, down to earth parents to join in (otherwise, what would there be to discuss?), but I don't know where to go looking for them. I did a search of interests, and the number of mommy communities is overwhelming, and all of them are slanted in some way.

So, I'm just saying this board is there for anyone interested who wants to engage in discussion and debate with parents. If I can find any.

Debate with parents? This may be an obvious question, but why...? It feels like there's CF on one side, and WC on the other and never the twain shall meet...(which is probably for the best!)

Well, you know, like, explaining to them that we aren't child raping monsters? Or coming to common ground? Or, like, discussing things like censorship and getting opinions from both sides?

Because, you know, like only evar talking to likeminded people about things you all agree with gets mighty boring sometimes?

Yes, I know what you mean, but parents will often see justification for all the things we bith about in here, cos 'kids are just so special'...so you may end up banging your head against the wall a lot. If you find some parents who are open-minded enough to consider the CF point of view, cool, but you may only attract the rabid mooing kind...

I'm up for a debate if you can find the former...

It is possible to find parents that don't have their heads up their asses. Difficult, but possible.

Granted, it would take a while for the forum to pick up, but I was bored and tired of the discrimination, and I think I can do a better job at it.

It seems like parents make up a good portion of the Child Raping Monsters Club.

Well played. That will probably be the best [info]childfree comment of the day.

Yes, but they won't believe that. Most abusers are family, and yet WE are the ones to be afraid of?

I guess it's different when it's your own...when it's your own you have free reign to abuse, mistreat and neglect them, but damn anyone else who does something to them!

I've started putting a lot of the child-abuse/murder-by-parents stories posted in this community in a section of my memories, so I can pull them out easily for cases like this.

I successfully raised a daughter while a single mother on welfare. Put myself through uni, kept her in high-school, scored a job just in time to send her to uni as well. She's now 24, has two degrees and no intention of having kids herself.

I only had the one. I was ambivalent about having kids but caved in to spouse & parental pressure. After two years of post-natal depression and a kid who wouldn't sleep more than two hours at a time day or night during those two years, I got a tubal ligation and said never again!

Marriage and parenthood don't suit my nature. I didn't enjoy the limitations. I'm far too independent to accept the labels of someone's wife or someone else's mother. I could feel my brain rotting away by the day.

Spouse left for more fertile fields. It took twenty years to be childfree but I got there.

I'm really big on respect & discipline reinforced with honesty & humour.

No problem.

I do really like discussing things with people (and often like sitting back and watching others discuss things), and from some other CF/Parent boards I have seen, there can be some really interesting discussions.

Obviously, this won't be everyone cuppa, but it works for me.

So in other words, you want something like this?

Yup, I knew about that one.

Even still, I wanted to make my own. ::shrugs:: Different boards have different moods, so I don't think it's too big a deal.
