Current mood: annoyed

Not only was that Andy Rooney post not on topic, it wasn't even written by him and he has denounced it.

Maybe the "annoyed" was due to the lack of a lj-cut as well.

Those tend to make people far less annoyed by off topic stuff.

You could have just extracted those from the whole gigantic article and say "quoted from ____". But it's still not actually by him.

Agreed - LJ-cuts, excerpts, and links to articles - your friend and mine.

The writing style is closer to Ed Anger of the Weekly World News.

Without the mentions of Jimbo and his "lil' cupcake Sara Lee".

*snork*!

In his book "Crackpot" John Waters says he met "Ed Anger" and that is is actually a really cool guy and that his "literary" persona is *completely* tongue-in-cheek and not serious at *all*. I always find him extremely amusing, along with the viciously blunt "Dear Dottie". Gotta do something in the grocery line to take yer mind off the sprog behind you squealing for candy, after all.

Hee. I hadn't heard that, but having read "Ed Anger" a few times, I have no trouble believing it's tongue-in-cheek. And it does my heart good to hear.

Since I am rendering out of both Maya and Shake right now which will likely take all night, I actually have the time and boredom to pull the book opff the shelf and provide the exact quote for you (yeah, I'm a geek.):

"Confirming everything I expected, an inside source of mine said Ed Anger is one Rafe Klinger, an 'off the wall' guy who believes none of the stuff he cranks out."

- John Waters, "Crackpot: The Obsessions of John Waters", p.86, Vintage Books, copyright 1983

(what, me, grad school syndrome???)

Oh, yeah baby LURVE me some Shake.

But my fantasy is to perhaps next summer pull off an internship with a flame artist...I'm going to learn combustion this semester (I want to specialize in compositing after I finish my masters).

Added ye back!

Oh man, I've been meaning to pick up that book. Did he meet Countess Sophia Sabak as well? How about BAT BOY!

I made Bat Boy postage stamps once.

You didn't do your research, and you become another person duped by glurge, as well as propagating various racist stereotypes. The world will continue to function whether you perpetuate forwarded emails or not.

Andy Rooney was a friend of my father's. This false attribution has befuddled and saddened him because of the besmirchment to his reputation and writing style.

You fucked up.

Now who's annoyed?

*grumble*

I HATE those things, the "articles" pawned off as written by a famous person. My mother and sister send them to me. (or at least they try to - half the email rules on my family account are set up to block that shit.) A message board I sometimes visit for needlework posts tons of them as well. Three seconds' research is all it takes to disprove this nonsense, and yet, there are too many lazy idiots emailing them back and forth to each other with the "famous" name attached. It's a major pet peeve of mine, ranking right up there with the email petitions.

When I debunk that glurge nonsense, sometimes I get bizarre reactions. Such as 'It doesn't matter, it's a good story anyway'. Fuck my knees it doesn't matter. Ignorance saddens me.

'It doesn't matter, it's a good story anyway'.

*snarl*

I've seen people use that one from time to time, but not often.

Pave Mason. Mr. Mason lists as his address, “405 East Wetmore Road, No. 117 PMB 520, Tucson Arizona 85705.”

This address is no less than a five minute drive from where I currently live. I will be paying this commercial PO Box a visit in the coming weeks, no doubt...
