Longhair Chi's
Stupid question but.... if you cut a three year old longhair Chihuahua's hair, will it grow back?!

Yes.

Hubby likes to cut off the leg/butt/tail hair on the chihuahuas because they tend to get dirty. Thankfully it does indeed grow back.

Yes, it grows back, but it's been said that depending on where you cut, some places don't grow back the same way it was before.

Off topic, but love your icon. And I assume with the others that it would grow back, because when I've had a medical procedure on one of mine that required shaving, the hair grew back. (Although mine are short hair, I assume long would grow back too.)

well to give you the advice of a groomer (it's what I do!).....sometimes it will not grow back the same. dog's can sometimes have an underlying thyroid problem that is not posing a serious health issue but will cause the hair to not grow back properly. also if you shave it short it can change the texture of the hair. I had a long hair chi and I gave him a lion cut and I wish I didn't. the hair grew back with a "prickly" feel and was never as soft again. I would reccommend just getting a "feather trim". thats a scissor trim of the feet, tail, ears, chest, belly and sanitary. hope that helps!
