| | We were out and about today with the kids. Took them to a dog park for a leg stretch and potty break. Well, Gracie doesn't like pooping in strange places (she gets that from me I think). She'll hold it unless we encourage her (generally by massaging the area a little). So I reached down to check her belly to see if she had to go and Gracie just rolled right over on her back! Right smack dab in the middle of a strange area. This is my fierce little girl who, just a few years ago, acted like she'd rather rip my face off than let me touch her. We've come a long way together. | comments: 1 comment or post comment |
| Well I just got home from watching The Dark Knight for the second time (ha!). Fantastic movie, see it if you get the chance.
Anyway, I decided to finally upload some pictures of the babies from my camera. They cuddle all the time now, and pretty much are in each other's crates. haha. Bella's taken to licking Harlow's eyes, it's pretty funny.
We took Harlow to the vet today for his first check up since we've had him, and to get him his rabies shot. He was SO good, didn't even make a sound! We also got him started on heartworm medication. Harlow weighs in @ 5.75lbs and Bella's just under 4lbs. Man, vet bills can get expensive...haha! Good thing I have the best boyfriend ever.
OK, onto the pictures. Enjoy!

| Hey Chihuahua pals!
I need some advise please. My 3.5 year old Bebe is still very aggressive towards new people (barking, growling and even biting when people reach for her). Its something my boyfriend and I have been working on with her, but she's yet to get over it. Once she gets to know someone (after meeting a few times) she is the most friendly, cuddly lovebug ever. We adopted her at 6 months from a lady with a 10 month old child and a pitbull...she's come a long way since then, but still has quite a ways to go.
Our new landlord has requested to meet Bebe before we move in. We are considering giving her an herbal suppliment for the meeting so we don't freak the lady out. I called our pet store and they recommended "Anxiety Relief" by Homeopet:

I've also called the vet and I'm waiting for a reply. I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this product, or if you guys could recommend something else.
Thanks!! -Keiko | comments: 3 comments or post comment |

| When I got pregnant, everyone went berzerk saying we'd have to get rid of Mr.Todd because chihuahuas eat babies or something, and todd is a MUTT, which means he may be involved in drug running or terrorism or gangs I guess, because family and friends just DIDN'T WANT HIM AROUND THE BABY. My great aunt, bless her heart, warned me to "never let the chihuahua babysit". She was...dead serious. Love her.
Anyway, as it happens, Todd and Charlotte are IN LOVE. He's loved her since the day she came home from the hospital. Here's a couple pics of them together:

and here's a picture of todd, very very tired but also requiring belly scritching.

| | I have a question, and I figured this is the best place to ask it. My chihuahua is 6.5 years old and she's always had a white/light skinned belly, but recently her belly has turned this dark grayish color. She has a vet appointment in two weeks, so I'm going to ask the vet about it, but I didn't know if it was something I should be concerned about it or if it was normal with chihuahuas? Friski is my family's first chihuahua and we got her when she was just a few months old. I just wasn't sure if it was a normal thing because she was getting older or not. It went from white to gray very suddenly, like within a week. Does anyone know what this could be? | comments: 10 comments or post comment |

| so a few weeks ago I noticed the tips of Diego's ears felt puffy. then a few days later they became scabbed on symmetrical spots in both ears. I took him to the vet who gave me a topical cream/gel for it. he couldnt really tell me what it was so I did some research on the net and found its common in Chihuahuas. It can be caused by a recent rabies vaccination which Diego just had. I have owned Chihuahuas me whole life and had never seen this. has anyone else?
 he's better now!

| So, trend alert! A 'breed' thats starting to become more popular is the Jackahuahua.
Half Jack Russell Terrier and Half (you guessed it!) Chihuahua.
I personally think its ridiculous. I guess I kinda get annoyed by people owning a dog because its a trendy item, ya know? Like those Puggles. ugh.

| | A couple of weeks ago I ordered a collar for Lulu from a shop on the Etsy website. Unfortunately, it's too big, her neck is so tiny. It's not the length that's too big it's the width of the collar. It's just a bit too bulky for her. So, if anyone would like it please respond here with your email address and I'll send it out today. The first person to reply will get it. It's a brown collar with large pink & purple flowers on it. It's 3/4 of an inch wide and about 10 inches long. It's also adjustable and has a metal ring so you can attach the tags. Hopefully this link will work: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=13202774 | comments: 7 comments or post comment |
| | mood: | confused | | Subject: | Food bowl | | Time: | 11:23 am |
|
| Jazz has had two gray plastic bowls for a long time. She has never really warmed up to her food bowl. She is ok with her water bowl but not the food bowl. Lately, she won't finish her food. At first I thought it was because the food was bad. I bought a container for it so that it will stay fresh. It does take her a long time to get through a bag of food. To test the food I then dumped the remaining food on the carpet and she ate it. I thought that maybe she didn't like the noise the food made against the bowl. Maybe it being a plastic bowl there was some kind of static charge only a small creature can feel...I really don't know. However, the idea of dumping her food on the carpet is not appealing to me. So, I tried a little glass bowl. A human bowl. She likes it. It sounds like our food bowls. She now eats all her food and usually right away. She still takes 3 or 4 pieces at a time and puts them on the carpet before eating but at least she is finishing her food. I was trying to get a picture of her bowls and she continued to eat her food during the shot. :)
