May I unlurk as well?

Heyla!
I'd like to finally introduce myself after years of on-and-off stalking because I'd really like to meet you all and go to some of the events and have an awesome summer and meet some awesome people! Whoa, run-on sentence.

Most people call me Rachel. I'm a full-time student at uni and right now I'm back home in my suburb, Highland Park. Anyone heard of it? No? Well, it's pretty small and it seems like most of y'all are from the western suburbs (mine is waaayy North/East). Wait, maybe you have 'cus the Chicago Botanic Garden is in my town.

What else? I've been attending ACEN for the past ~6yrs. I've been dressing up in lolita rig for a bit now and I finally gave in and bought my first dress (yay!). I made all my outfits before, with generous help from my mother.

Nice to meet you!

Crafternoon Final Head Count

Here's the attendees so far:

[info]blacktempest
[info]danaeaphreal+1 or +2
[info]paillettes +a folding chair maybe
[info]littleaznmouse
[info]neonnoiseparade

So that's 10-11 people besides those of us who live here. We have seating for seven on chairs but we're going to clean all the floors thoroughly today.

Food I'm providing:
Avacado and Garlic dip (bring mints!) with Pita and tomato
Celery
Doritos (Nacho Cheese and Cool ranch)
Cake

Drinks I have:
Hot tea
Coffee
Water (duh!)
Soda (Pepsi, Pepsi one, Sierra Mist)
Cranberry juice
Iced green tea.

We're going to be decadently wasteful and have two air conditioners in the main room. One right by the couch and the other in the "dining room" area that's really more a library. I figure with that many people we'll need the extra coolness.

The Plan:
Everyone arrives around noon, we pick a move/show to put in as background noise, and then pair up the people who want to learn with a teacher. Then craft and munch and likely gossip and/or chat.

Any suggestions, I'm open as I've never run a crafternoon before.

Huh.

So, Six Flags.

[info]new_xero hasn't gotten back to me yet on the discounted tickets, and I was looking on the website for that "buy one get one free" deal, but I can't actually get it to bring that deal up, so I don't really know what that's about. Right now, without vouchers, it looks like the lowest price for a ticket is $39 (yikes?). [info]blacktempest mentioned something about a discount voucher that only covered 8 people, but that...only covers 8 people.

Any comments/suggestions/ideas while I try to sort out what's going on with the pricing for this thing? What the hell ever happened to bringing in a coke can and paying like $20 to get into the stupid park. BACK IN MY DAY WHEN I WAS A KID, SIX FLAGS WAS FREE.

Ello my fellow Lolitas and Madams.

I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself, rather than just quietly sit behind Gardenia and Primrose bushes to not say a word.
*ahem* My name is Nicole, and I'm 15 1/2 years old. I'm a full-time student and part-time work (for the summer that is: I work as a counseling assistant to help people choose careers.)  I'm an amateur Manga illustrator. My hobbies include: writing poetry, various crafts- specifically jewelry*, drawing, humming, reading and such. I have an absolute love and respect for Japanese culture (although I love Asia as well), it brings much happiness to my world. I've been fully adorned by the Lolita (of Japan) for 5 years or so, and I've been wanting to dress as a Lolita in the past 3 years. Unfortunately, I do not own any Lolita paraphernalia...yet *smile*) Though, ever since I was littler, I've always love reading, seeing, and learning about the Rococo, Victorian, and Edwardian eras.
My dream is to go to Japan.. but that'll still have to wait. In the meantime, I'd love to meet new Lolita friends (I only have one, and she's my best friend- she's Decora Lolita). I'm so happy there plenty of proud Lolis in Chicago, I knew I wasn't alone! ^_^
I want to have a darling tea party one day.
*I create polymer clay jewelry.
I'm a native Chicagoan, born and raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood, but I currently live in he Beverly Hills/Morgan Park neighborhood (North Beverly Hills)
So, talk to me anytime as you'd please. <3

Hello Everyone,

I am going to be vacationing in Chicago sometime this summer near the EDIT** St. Charles (I wrote St. Andrews by mistake) area. I have never been Chicago before (I live in Canada) and was wondering if any of you could please let me know of any Lolita stores in that area or around there =]
I tried looking up information online but the search engines are not helping me find what I need so I thought what more of a better way to find information about Chi-town Lolita stores than from this community! =]

Your help is appreciated

Thanks,

Erika

Six Flags Trip Post

Alright then, lets do this!

SIX FLAGS INFO POST
Date: MONDAY, July 27th (to celebrate Brii's birthday and avoid us some weekend crowds!) Hopefully 3+ weeks is enough time for you to get off of work if this is a work day for you. :)

Time: 9:30 am meet up outside the park, stay until we puke or get bored.

Price: As of now, I think that [info]new_xero can help us get discount tickets? We're working things out, but we'll most likely be able to get in on discount because we're awesome at networking here in Chicago.

Dress: If you actually want to wear lolita to a theme park, keep that nonsense casual. It will probably be 700 degrees by the end of July, and you're going to be walking around a giant theme park and hanging upsidedown on rides (bloomers plz). WEAR SENSIBLE SHOES (NENA.)

Transportation: If you have a car and you're willing to help other people commute out to Gurnee, you're pretty awesome. Make a big old comment in this post and we'll start setting up ride connections. If we're short on cars, I'll figure out some kind of big Metra run, but hopefully cars will be available.

PLEASE RSVP IN THE COMMENTS AND STICK TO IT. If Angie goes to the trouble to get discount tickets for us, I might have everyone paypay me cash to give to her to pay for the tickets ahead of time. Cool? Cool. :D

random botanic garden trip!

Hi All :D

I am totally going to the Chicago Botanic Garden this Friday, probably in the afternoon or possibly early evening. Anyone want to join me and make it an impromptu loli picnic?

It is expected to be fairly hot that day, Google says 81 degrees, but will be sunny and good for random photography (if I can find my f***ing camera).

Let me know what time is good! :3

EDIT: Due to requests, I'll organize another botanic garden meetup a bit out into the future, so we can get a bunch of lolis there. (Anyone's still welcome to join me tomorrow. :D) It will be on a Sunday, either 7/19 or 7/26...any preference on dates?

A Question

This may sound like a stupid question, but here it goes- I heard that Taste of Chicago was a shoulder to shoulder event. Would wearing lolita to it be a dangerous thing? Is anyone else planning on going in lolita? I'm heavily debating on it.

Unlurking is a difficult thing to do*

Hi all. My name is Liz, and I've been lurking this community for a while. I'm also an avid visitor to Daily lolita, EGL comm sales, and Central Steam. Thought I'd introduce myself in hopes of maybe going to a few meets and finding other lolita's in my area of the northwest suburbs.
I've been into lolita for a while but have just started purchasing clothing. I'm a regular ACen atendee (7 years strong) and also a lazy ass cosplayer.I haven't been to any meet ups yet so I hope to fix that soon.

That's all really, thanks for taking the time to read my boring spiel, and I hope to meet some of you in the near future!  XD
