Well it seems the Chiefs will not be signing his tender, and Boomer's got meetings set up with a couple other teams. Sad to say.

In addition to that, the biggest signing so far has been today's signing of DeMorrio Williams, a young OLB from the Falcons, for five years and $16 million.

Basically, the Chiefs are going young and cheap.
Chiefs sign Chad Johnson.

No, not the Chad Johnson... not the three-time All Pro, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver extraordinaire.

The 5'9" free agent cornerback from Northwestern State, Louisiana. Practically the same thing, right? Right.

The Chiefs also signed six other castoffs. This does not include Alibi, the second-year OT we snagged off the Dolphins' practice squad.

The notable thing here is that the Chiefs are loading up on kickers. This makes a lot of sense because there's really only one kicker I'd draft this year and you can never like that kind of odds. I think they've already given Novak and Cundiff a shot last year, but went with the more experienced John Carney. I wish the Chiefs would have given Medlock one more shot but I believe he's ended up in St. Louis -- if he kicks ass for them I will jump out my window.

Joe Lobdell and Rob Smith have been flirting with the practice squad for a year, now. No telling if they'll pan out. My money's on Erick Harris. I don't know much about it but I love the Chiefs' abilities to find diamonds in the rough for our secondary. They go for DL early in the Draft, and secondary much, much later. I think that's the right way to go.

KC Chiefs on the prowl?

There is a source on ChiefsPlanet that is wrong as often as he is right... but the fact that he is occasionally right warrants some attention to this rumor, posted yesterday:

Chad Johnson will be a Kansas City Chief in 2008.

100 percent guaranteed.

Le GASP! The Chad Johnson?

Yes, the Chad Johnson.

The prospect of that boggles my mind. Obviously the Bengals are looking to get rid of him so that they can start cleaning up their business, but really all CJ's done in Cincinnati is get overly cocky and get fined over and over again. Despite the fact that half the Bengals were convicted this year, Chad has nothing on his record.

This would give young QB Brodie Croyle virtually everything that he needs, receiver-wise, if the Chiefs elect to keep Tony Gonzalez. They'll have Johnson holding down the #1 post, rookie sensation Dwayne Bowe holding down the #2. This is phenomenal news, as Bowe has the potential to be a Pro Bowl possession receiver, and Chad Johnson's a decorated, All Pro deep threat.

Add Tony G into the mixture and a WR or two that the Chiefs are sure to draft this year, and one of the league's weakest WR corps may be doing a 180 very, very soon.

That said, all sexyness of this acquisition aside, it pains me to think of what the Chiefs would give up to get CJ, but the prospect of somebody to compliment Bowe is music to my ears.

x-posted to nflfans and my journal.

Todd is playing great, just think where this team will probably be with Todd Collins playing vs. Damon Huard. We never got to see Todd play because Trent never got hurt. Now he's looking amazing. Im happy for him and Al in Washington.

Well the season is over, i imagine the roster will be torn apart quickly. Next season will be better. After a lot of thought into it, i do not think Brodie is our QB of the future. He looks like a carrear backup, it's going to be interesting to see what the Chiefs do in the draft.

With the lost today, we are in position to have the 4th or 5th pick. I wouldn't mind having Matt Ryan from Boston College!! Now he could be our QB of the future!!!!!

4 games left!

Well there a lot of things I can talk about in Chiefs land. Priest Holmes retiring, the emergence of Kobe Smith, the awesome year Allen is having, but the thing that’s really on my mind is the fact we are officially eliminated from the playoffs race.

Am I surprised? No! To convince oneself that we are not in rebuilding would be foolish. Although we’re eliminated from the championship race, we still have a lot to play for. Brodie needs to get back on the field, win some games for us, and show us what he can do so we can know what to do in the draft next year. Kobe needs this time to really emerge so next year we’ll have a dynamitic 1, 2 punch with LJ and KS.

Also nothing would satisfy me more than to play playoff spoiler. We’ve got Denver, Tennessee, and Detroit on our schedule. Each of those teams is fighting for their playoffs lives!! A lost to KC can keep them home with us. And the most important game for our coach, beating the J.E.T.S Jets! Jets! Jets! We have to bring that victory home for Herm.

So there are lots of things to play for, hopefully we can keep it exciting.

In a losing effort

I think we did a great job in a losing effort. Brodie showed he can lead this team and move the ball, he did a good job for his first start.

The defense was amazing, hard hits, Jared was a beast out there! To hold the Colts to 13 speaks volumes.

Although we lost, we have a lot to look forward to and the divison doesn't change. We can win this divison!!

Bench Damon!!

All i have to say is i hope Damon is on the bench for good. If he had not got banged up, i do believe Brodie would have came in anyway. Brodie moved the chains, that's what we needed. The turnovers by Damon was the difference maker. I can't believe we lost in KC against the Broncos, the same team who got blew out by the Lions last week! 4 turnovers!! You can't win that way no matter who you play.

It should have been a big historic event, the first regular season game played outside of the USA. Instead of being a great moment this game will probably go into the books as the worst event ever.

They said the game was sold out nine times over, in fact there were plenty of empty seats and I've been offered about 50 tickets the days leading to the game. They reported 81.176 attendance but it was closer to 70.000. Tickets weren't scanned at the entrance but thorn by hand so there is no exact attendance count.

It started with the dodgy ticket sales, pore pre-game events, worse game day and an anti-climax.

Ticket sales. They (NFL UK) were going to do everything to stop black market sales and give real American Football fans a chance to get tickets. The system timed out forcing you to queue again for 45 minutes. In the end you couldn't enter a foreign address and there was no option to pick the tickets up at the stadium, so an other timeout occurred and we had to start again. Meanwhile we kept our eye on eBay and to our astonishment the first black market tickets appeared online after 15 minutes saying they had a wedding and they really wanted to go to the game but couldn't and now wanted to sell their tickets for 5 times the regular price. Like they didn't know about the wedding 15 minutes earlier. I say, revoke the order and sell ticket to real fan.
Pre-game days. What was there to do? Nothing! We were expecting pre-game parties on the major squares throughout London but in fact the only party there was was the NFL Europa Fan meeting at the Metropolitan Bar on Baker Street which was the highlight of the whole trip.
Pre-game party/tailgate. No pre-game activities whatsoever, the official indoor (???) "tailgate party" was for 7500 fans only who didn't get game tickets. What a bunch of BS, people paid up to 250 pound for a ticket and no pre-game. There was an other tailgate organized by the Colchester Gladiators which was a great success. The local pubs were fun also but we expected loads more from the organizers.
Merchandise. Why buy online and receive it after the game when you can pick it up at the stadium. That is what loads thought but they though wrong. There was hardly any merchandise available. The smallest local Soccer Scene offered more then the official merchandise stands inside and outside of the stadium. Just some t-shirts, caps, replica jerseys and scarfs. Oh and a ball here and there. What went wrong, all the good stuff was stuck at in Amsterdam. Weird, they have only know about this game for 9 months and still they can't ship on time.
In the stadium. OK, not a word about the game on the field, the organization has no control over that. Entering the stadium took forever. They had to many female search lines so all women were in the stadium waiting for they husbands/boyfriends/etc. who still stood in line in the rain. Should have used the empty female search lines for the men. OK.
Food and drinks were overpriced but still, I need liquids and food. So we get in line and after 25 minutes of waiting we get to the counter where we get the news: "WE HAVE NO MORE FOOD, ONLY SNICKERS." Mmm... I thought Wembley hosted the largest concerts. Don't they eat there?
So we forget about the cheeseburgers and chips and go for the liquids. One beer please, "NO MORE BEER, ONLY SMIRNOFF ICE." OK, don't they know what to order for a big event like this. This was really really really bad.
The stadium was quiet, no music for the cheerleaders during dead plays or timeouts, and when the did get music the technicians started the music to late so they only had 30 seconds and the routine wasn't finished. Then there was no atmosphere in the stadium, it felt more like Wimbledon accept the crowd at Wembley was so quiet the ref didn't have to say "quiet please", the crowd already was.
Transportation. Going to the stadium no problem, but then after the game everybody leaves at once. I was wondering how Wembley would handle that, and like I expected, they didn't. The train/tube stations around the stadium were all closed off and we ended up walking into town and catching a packed tube over there about 2 hours after the game.

All in all a good trip with an anti climax, game-day. We flew back from Gatwick at the same time the Dolphins left so we had a chance to talk to some of the players which was nice.
