Oh my, Allen was one of my favorite players! I can't believe he's not going to be and red in anymore. But...i think we got a lot for him. 17th first round pick, 2 3rd rounders and swap of 6th rounder. 13 picks in the draft this season, we are really starting fresh and better get some good darn players!!

We better have a very good draft this year because im getting tired of watching other teams make all kinds of moves and we're sitting back doing nothing...

Hey, I desperately need some more Chiefs love on my journal, but I can't do it unless I'm encouraged by having as many Chiefs friends on my friends list as possible.
Add me, Chiefs fans. Post in this thread, so I can add you back.
Seacrest out.

| Chiefs sign WR. |
[12 Mar 2008|12:50pm] |
They just signed Darling from the Ravens.
He's a young dude, ascending, and they signed him for peanuts.
|
|
| Couple signings. |
[02 Mar 2008|03:48pm] |
Chiefs signed a FB, Hoyte, a converted LB.
What happened to our own converted LB? Well it seems the Chiefs will not be signing his tender, and Boomer's got meetings set up with a couple other teams. Sad to say.
In addition to that, the biggest signing so far has been today's signing of DeMorrio Williams, a young OLB from the Falcons, for five years and $16 million.
Basically, the Chiefs are going young and cheap. It's time to build a foundation.

| Chiefs release four big names. |
[28 Feb 2008|12:15pm] |
Didn't see this posted.
The Chiefs have released:
OLB Kendrell Bell DT James Reed TE Jason Dunn CB Ty Law
The youth movement continues.

| Can someone explain? |
[26 Feb 2008|04:07pm] |
Why did they get rid of Kennison? Yeah, I know he's 35. I know he didn't do much last season, but how many snaps did he really get to play? He's a good receiver. He probably only had another year or two before he retired anyway, but this...
Back to one good receiver and Tony G. I guess.

| Jared Allen franchise-tagged. |
[19 Feb 2008|01:18pm] |
No word on if it's an exclusive or non-exclusive tag, which insinuate different rules.
But that means essentially that the Chiefs intend to make a deal with Allen, and Allen intends to hold out.
Will be very interesting to see how this plays...

No, not the Chad Johnson... not the three-time All Pro, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver extraordinaire.
The 5'9" free agent cornerback from Northwestern State, Louisiana. Practically the same thing, right? Right.
The Chiefs also signed six other castoffs. This does not include Alibi, the second-year OT we snagged off the Dolphins' practice squad.

The notable thing here is that the Chiefs are loading up on kickers. This makes a lot of sense because there's really only one kicker I'd draft this year and you can never like that kind of odds. I think they've already given Novak and Cundiff a shot last year, but went with the more experienced John Carney. I wish the Chiefs would have given Medlock one more shot but I believe he's ended up in St. Louis -- if he kicks ass for them I will jump out my window.
Joe Lobdell and Rob Smith have been flirting with the practice squad for a year, now. No telling if they'll pan out. My money's on Erick Harris. I don't know much about it but I love the Chiefs' abilities to find diamonds in the rough for our secondary. They go for DL early in the Draft, and secondary much, much later. I think that's the right way to go.

There is a source on ChiefsPlanet that is wrong as often as he is right... but the fact that he is occasionally right warrants some attention to this rumor, posted yesterday:
Chad Johnson will be a Kansas City Chief in 2008.
100 percent guaranteed.
Le GASP! The Chad Johnson?

Yes, the Chad Johnson.
The prospect of that boggles my mind. Obviously the Bengals are looking to get rid of him so that they can start cleaning up their business, but really all CJ's done in Cincinnati is get overly cocky and get fined over and over again. Despite the fact that half the Bengals were convicted this year, Chad has nothing on his record.
This would give young QB Brodie Croyle virtually everything that he needs, receiver-wise, if the Chiefs elect to keep Tony Gonzalez. They'll have Johnson holding down the #1 post, rookie sensation Dwayne Bowe holding down the #2. This is phenomenal news, as Bowe has the potential to be a Pro Bowl possession receiver, and Chad Johnson's a decorated, All Pro deep threat.
Add Tony G into the mixture and a WR or two that the Chiefs are sure to draft this year, and one of the league's weakest WR corps may be doing a 180 very, very soon.
That said, all sexyness of this acquisition aside, it pains me to think of what the Chiefs would give up to get CJ, but the prospect of somebody to compliment Bowe is music to my ears.

What a great decison, he was by far the worst offensive cordinator in Chiefs history!! Only scored 226 points all season, the worst in the team history!
I would love to get Mike Martz...i bet we start to score points then!! Mike Martz is said to be fired by the Lions soon. Would Brain Bellick be a good fit too? I think we need a name, someone with a good background. Anything but Mike Solari is good!
Also receivers coach and running back coach was fired too, clean house!!!

Todd is playing great, just think where this team will probably be with Todd Collins playing vs. Damon Huard. We never got to see Todd play because Trent never got hurt. Now he's looking amazing. Im happy for him and Al in Washington.
Well the season is over, i imagine the roster will be torn apart quickly. Next season will be better. After a lot of thought into it, i do not think Brodie is our QB of the future. He looks like a carrear backup, it's going to be interesting to see what the Chiefs do in the draft.
With the lost today, we are in position to have the 4th or 5th pick. I wouldn't mind having Matt Ryan from Boston College!! Now he could be our QB of the future!!!!!

Well there a lot of things I can talk about in Chiefs land. Priest Holmes retiring, the emergence of Kobe Smith, the awesome year Allen is having, but the thing that’s really on my mind is the fact we are officially eliminated from the playoffs race.
Am I surprised? No! To convince oneself that we are not in rebuilding would be foolish. Although we’re eliminated from the championship race, we still have a lot to play for. Brodie needs to get back on the field, win some games for us, and show us what he can do so we can know what to do in the draft next year. Kobe needs this time to really emerge so next year we’ll have a dynamitic 1, 2 punch with LJ and KS.
Also nothing would satisfy me more than to play playoff spoiler. We’ve got Denver, Tennessee, and Detroit on our schedule. Each of those teams is fighting for their playoffs lives!! A lost to KC can keep them home with us. And the most important game for our coach, beating the J.E.T.S Jets! Jets! Jets! We have to bring that victory home for Herm.
So there are lots of things to play for, hopefully we can keep it exciting.
