Hey Chico,

I need to get a new tire and possibly do some bike maintenance. What shop has good prices around here? And I have bike problems I can't fix myself, who would I take the bike to?

I already checked chicowiki.org, but I couldn't find anything on bike repair.

summer sublet

Do you or anyone you know need a place in Chico for the summer?
Maybe your lease ends in May and your new lease doesn't start until August?

I will not be in Chico during the summer and have to pay rent somewhere else. I can't really afford to do that, so I really need to sublet my room in Chico.

Now, about the house. It is a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bath house with a large backyard. It is in downtown. Close enough to the parties if you want, but far enough that the party won't be next door. haha.

I can give you more details if you contact me.

My friends and I don't actually move in to the house until June 1st. So it will be available then until mid-August (when school starts). I can even have my bed set up so that the room can be semi-furnished. Three other girls will be living in the house. All currently juniors and really into music. Although, two of them might not be here during the summer or on and off. They're awesome, down to earth, responsible ladies.

Rent is $425 since it's the smallest room in the house. However, since my stuff will still be in the house, I'll lower the price to $375/month. You'd also have to pay an even portion of all the utilities.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks!!

Me an a few other folks are planning a zombie walk on halloween morning starting at the graveyard on Mangrove at ~10am.

Here is what you have to do:

-Tell everyone you know to particitpate (20 zombies lurching around downtown is ok, but 70 or 100 zombies will be full scale undead madness!)

-Get yourself some top- notch zombie makeup, fake blood and bloody, torn apparel. Think of if like a fashion show, but in stead of looking stylish you have to look dead. Try to fake-kill-yourself in a creative way. (Snakes on a Plane references fiercely encouraged)

-Bring extra makeup for your undead comrades who don't look dead enough.

-When we start walking stay in character. Key phrases include "BRAAAAAAAAINS", etc. Pretend you are hungry and very stupid talk in fragmented, badly worded sentences. If you buy coffee try to pay with pennies or bloody ears from you pocket.

-copy this message and send it out everywhere!

CD Release Party this Friday!

CD Release Party this Friday! (might not get online by then)

You are cordially invited to the CD release party for John Staedler's “A Conscious Alternative” (www.johnstaedler.com) This Friday May 12th at 8pm in Chico, CA. It will be held at the Ghost Dance Art Gallery on 173 E. 13th street (13th and Park). Admission is the purchase of “A Conscious Alternative” which will only be $5 (at the door)! The lovely Boy Tiger (http://www.myspace.com/boytiger) will be opening and there will be lots of percussion for my set and even more fun!! Come give the album, my summer tour and the launch of my solo career a christening to remember! If you are anywhere in the area I would love to see you!!
As for online sales, I am trying my darndest to make them available by Friday but there is a chance that they may not be up until early next week. I will let everyone know when they are available! The CD’s will be $9 for the whole package or $5 for digital download. But if you come to see me live the whole CD will only be $5 and I’ll have giant stickers for $2 and buttons for $1 and most of my shows are free admission! What a deal!
Also, if you live on the west coast, be sure to mark on your calendar for when I’m coming to your town! When I try to sort my fans by zip code it only comes up with a small percentage of them, so I may not be able to give everyone an invite (Does anyone know how to fix this?) I also still have a few slots for opening bands on my tour, email me if you are interested.

Much love,

Looking for Housemates!

I'm looking for a housemate (male or female) to rent a single room in a nice, fully furnished house about a mile from campus. The house is in a quiet, park-like neighborhood populated by some college students, but mostly families with young children or elderly couples. An ideal place for the serious student.

Amenities include:
-indoor washer and dryer
-kitchen with all usual appliances
-small backyard
-garage space for anything but a large truck or SUV
-storage space
-wireless internet paid by owners
-water, lawn service, home owner's association fees, and garbage paid by owner

Tenent would pay a one-time $400 deposit which would be returned when they leave. Rent is $475/month and tenent would pay the utilities bill divided by number of tenents (ideally this would be 4).

Small caged pets (lizards, frogs, fish, birds, etc.) are acceptable. Indoor cats are subject to additional deposit at home owner's descretion. No dogs (exception may be made for small dogs and then the rules for a cat would apply, but, again, this is at home owner's descretion).

Also, I am looking for an actual roommate (female) to share the master bedroom and bathroom with me. The deposit price remains the same, but the rent for the shared room would be $375. I tend to be a quiet, solitary type who has a tendancy of staying up late (1am-ish). I listen to classical music and country and am a very studious individual.

Leases for summer (June and July) are also available. Deposit and utilities apply, but rent for summer is $225/month

Honors students appriciated, but all are welcome to apply.

Please call me (Kerry) at (951) 533-6530 to inquire.

Art Student Masturbates for Final Project

So, a friend of mine is working on his bachelors of fine arts at Chico State. He told me about another student, who, for his final project in a sculpture class yesterday did the following: covered all the windows in the classroom with paper, cut small peepholes into the paper and told the entire class to go outside and look in through the windows to see his final project. The class left the room and assembled outside, looked through the windows and saw this student hanging upside down (by gravity boots), naked and MASTURBATING. This was his final project. What bearing it has on the art of sculpture, I have no idea.

Has anybody else heard about this?

x-posted in my lj

The NewTrader Joe's in Chico

I just got back from the Trader Joe's that opened today here in Chico. That was a mistake (not that they finally built a store here, but that I tried to shop there on the opening day). It was crowded as hell and people were backed up with their shopping carts all the way to the back of the store. It would have been at least a 45 min. wait to get to a register to buy anything.

I had been watching the classified ads in the ER closely, waiting for a sign from Trader Joe's that they were ready for job applicants for the Chico store. About three weeks ago I checked their web site and it said for people to apply in person at the store. The store wasn't even open so I don't know how anyone was supposed to apply. When I was there today I asked for an application and they said they were fully staffed and had received a record number of applicants - over 600. Fuck. :(

See we drink and we talk about being good and getting lives and jobs and that school thing. We will, someday. I think. Maybe.

Oh yea, there's two of us writing this. Because we are bored and we are looking for you, but you seem to be hiding under a rock.

SO COME OUT AND DRINK WITH US. You might like us, if nothing else you'll amuse us.
