New Raymondo! [May. 17th, 2008|02:32 am]

zpxlng
There's a girl in it. Do you recognise her?

Also! Guess what! The talented and lovable Rene Engström recorded a Raymondo Person song! It is called The Ballad of Raymondo Person and oh my gosh, that was a link to the MP3, just there!

It's in spooky, whispered Swedish, but Rene has provided this translation of the lyrics:

* * *

There once was a boy
who was called Raymondo Person
His shit was great and out of control
His name was Raymondo Person

There once was a boy
who was called Raymondo Person
His shit was great and out of control
The poor bastard Raymondo Person

* * *

Is your shit great and out of control? I know mine is... thanks to this excellent and wonderful song.

No foolin'! Here it is.

See all that cross-hatching, every line a unique stroke of my pen?

...I don't have anything to say about it, I just wanted to make sure you saw it.

New Anders Loves Maria! [Mar. 25th, 2008|09:11 pm]

zpxlng
That's correct, bitches! I did another guest strip!

It won't make much sense without context, so rather than link you straight to my guest strip, I'll link you to the very first page of Anders Loves Maria, and you can read the whole thing. It won't take long, and you will enjoy it very much!

Then, and only then, will you appreciate the infinite hilarity of my guest strip.

Thanks, Rene! You are the nicest of ladies.

New Raymondo! [Mar. 4th, 2008|04:43 am]

zpxlng
For reals! Clicky clicky!

It's the first page of a two-pager, but the second page isn't finished yet, so... SUSPENSE, I guess!

Since the last new Raymondo, I have done ten Hilarity Comics for Eegra. This is what happens when you pay me! Anyway, start here and keep reading.

And Eegra is not just comics, you know! There is a variety of awesome to be found there. Have a big ol' browse if you haven't already. Seriously, read everything. It's all good.

Also, did you see this? It's that damnable lesbians strip, redrawn to feature Girly characters, by Scott DeWitt. It's like a three-way collaboration, except Scott didn't have to come up with a story or characters, and me and Josh didn't have to do anything! I guess it's like a 'mash-up', except for your eyes. WE ARE MASHING UP YOUR EYES! That is great.

Anyway, yes -- thanks, Scott! You are some kind of neat.

NEWS I GUESS: Despite repeated denials, it turns out I will be at Sydney Supanova this year -- but wearing my Eegra hat, not my, uh, self hat. I don't know exactly what we will be doing or selling, but when there are more details to share, I will share them. With you! Here!

That is all. Goodnight!

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas [Dec. 23rd, 2007|02:30 am]

DOWNLOAD .ZIP (14.1 MB)

For a generation (and I’m talkin’ ‘bout my generation) raised on Bart Simpson and the Internet, the word ‘sentimental’ sounds like an insult. Sentiment is for Grandma and Grandpa – it’s an old-fashioned value, to be regarded with suspicion. Well I say, to hell with that.

What are we so afraid of, that we can’t share some warm, sentimental feelings, especially at this time of year? Sentiment doesn’t drop bombs on people or arrest negroes disproportionately. Sentiment is what makes us love our country; sentiment is why, no matter how old we get, no place will ever feel like home quite like Mom and Dad’s. And sentiment is how, for just one day of the year, everyone on Earth can join together and focus on what’s really important: Love, Joy and Family.

This is an album of original songs about just those things. I sang them with all my heart. I know that sounds ‘cheesy’ – and believe me, the music does too! But I hope you can put aside your ‘internet rage’ for a little while, and enjoy some good old-fashioned Holiday tunes. Who knows? You just might find yourself singing along.

You might even find yourself smiling. :)

All the best,

Patrick Alexander

New Raymondo! [Dec. 15th, 2007|02:10 am]

zpxlng
Oh my shit! It really is a new Raymondo! Your dreams have come true!

Also, the question that has been on all our minds (when we were not dreaming of a new Raymondo): What do gamers want for Christmas?

The answers may shock and astonish you. But prolly not!

So, I guess you all hated my film, huh? Well, fuck you.

Exclusive Interview [Dec. 12th, 2007|09:09 pm]

zpxlng
Heyyy guys! I made a film. It's a thrill ride!

If you were to leave ratings and/or comments on YouTube, I would not protest! You can also comment here! No-one will stop you!

I did a couple of other videos recently, too, but... they're very YouTube-y. But you can see them here:

http://youtube.com/zpxlng

I'm happy to be making films again! I haven't done so since I was a teenager. (You can probably tell.)

Now I will make dinner, and after that, I will finish pencilling the next Raymondo. Today is a day for making things!

Eegra [Dec. 10th, 2007|02:28 pm]

zpxlng
Do you enjoy videogames? Are you not a gibbering, fat fucking moron? Then thank Christ our Saviour for...

EEGRA.COM
Videogames for Attractive People

This is my new job! I'm being paid by a small company to write, draw comics, and make videos, for this website. As jobs go, it's pretty okay! But it won't last if the website doesn't get popular, which it will, with your help. Please spread the word about Eegra!

HERE IS A HANDY TIP FOR SPREADING THE WORD:

On forums, or on your blog, or wherever, DON'T just link to the front page, like so:

Hey guys check out this awesome website! So funny!

...because that's just a plug, and people hate plugs. I hate plugs.

What you should do instead is link to a specific page that you think your audience/friends will enjoy. It's more personal and less demanding. Plus, a specific article, comic or video is infinitely more likely to 'catch on' than an entire website. That's why we have sites like Digg.

With that in mind, allow me to suggest some good starting points...

OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP:

  • 'Digg' any articles/videos you like, if you do that sort of thing.

  • Email blog sites like Kotaku and Joystiq, with a link to your favourite Eegra article/comic/video. Don't be shy! Posting links to real websites is what those guys do all day! (I think they might particularly like the Tretton interview.)

  • More specifically, please email UK:R about the Sonic dancing video. Just because.

Most importantly, please share Eegra with all your friends, not just the gamer nerds! Eegra aims to be a website about videogames that everyone can enjoy -- not just die-hard, self-identified 'gamers'. If you are a cool guy or girl, and you like to play videogames sometimes, or a lot, Eegra is YOUR website. It is FOR YOU.

GET FUCKIN' INTO IT!

Join the forums! Subscribe to our YouTube channel, and rate our videos! Email compliments, suggestions, tips and whatever to Dan and me!

OH HEY THAT'S RIGHT

Eegra is created by Daniel Staines and me, Patrick Alexander -- the team behind the only videogame magazine you ever cared about, Total Gamer. Oh boy!

(If you need your memories of Total Gamer refreshed or implanted, go here, here, here, here, here and here.)

Okay I think that's it.

Enjoy browsing the shit out of Eegra, and please add it to your bookmarks. I will be doing stuff for Eegra all the time, including a comic every week! So there!

WHEEEEEE!!

These lesbians will haunt me forever. [Nov. 16th, 2007|01:55 am]

zpxlng
I don't know if you know, but this strip has become pretty popular -- it pops up all over the internet, sometimes making me think I ought to 'watermark' Raymondo...

Anyway, just now, I came across this:

THIS )

Could it be...? Is this a meme now?

It's well done, so I wish I knew who to credit. It's likely they didn't know who to credit either. :(

EDIT: I remembered that my friend Rebecca did a Batman comic recently. It must be Batman season!

EDIT: It's always Batman season.

The autumn days grow short and cold
It's Christmastime again
The snows of winter slowly melt
The days grows short
And then

He turns the seasons around
And so she changes her gown
Mother Earth and Father Time
How very special are we
For just a moment to be
Part of life's eternal rhyme

Mr Fuzzywhee [Oct. 24th, 2007|08:26 pm]

zpxlng
It's the 24-hour comic I did on the weekend, and it is a sequel to CUNT! in methodology only. However, points will be awarded for interesting comparisons and contrasts noted, so please pay attention and comment exhaustively, writing on only one side of your monitor.

I'll do up a nice little website for it eventually, but in the interim, please link the entire global population to this LiveJournal entry.

I got 22 pages done in 24 hours, then slept for four hours and did the remainder.

OKAY LET'S GO

OH BOY ADVENTURES )

I like it.

Here are some other 24-hour comics from the same weekend that I found and read and thought were good:

The Farmhouse by KC Green. 'Good' is an understatement, really; a better word might be 'HOLY SHIT JESUS WHAT'. It's amazing, and he did it in nineteen hours, which makes me want to kill him or kiss him. KC, if we ever meet in person... you better pretty yourself up real good.

If you're not familiar with KC's work, rectify this lifestyle problem here and here. He is an outstanding cartoonist, and one day, all sorts of publishers are going to be sorry they weren't paying attention to him earlier.

The Man Who Used To Know Everything by John Campbell. More longer-than-usual comics please, John Campbell -- you are very good at them!

16 Hole by Jason Turner.

And finally, from the opposite side of the kitchen table, my roommate's 24-hour comic: The Life and Times of a Mushroom (by Rebecca Clements). Really amazingly excellent.

THE END GOODBYE

PS. YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE

I hope that worked! CRIKEY!

New Raymondo! [Jun. 15th, 2007|03:01 am]

zpxlng
It's a two-pager, so click here to go straight to the first page and avoid horrible, brain-searing confusion.

The long wait for this Raymondo strip was due to another project temporarily taking priority, as I mentioned before. This other project was my entry in the Morning International Manga Competition -- an all-new comic called Mr Frisky's Unbelievable Planet. I would love to show it to you, but I'm afraid the best I can do right now is tease you with this inexplicable preview panel:

Mr Frisky is going to win! Mostly because it is awesome, but also, I suspect, because the majority of other entries will be painful anime crap sent in by drooling weeaboos.

So, that's something to look forward to!
