    OK listen!

I am doing a potentially really cool documentary type thing for a class final.
In our class one of the things we're doing is looking at the impact of technology on society and ultimately how we're getting sucked into things like Second Life, second "lives" on the internet, "reality" television, etc.

Anyway, I wanna do my own little project involving the queer community of course. Since we're focusing on the internet and media, I thought it would interesting to pose my question by means of the internet, and ask people to create a video response. I will then compile things together into one video and hopefully it will turn out really cool.

So I'm looking for people to create their own little youtube video, and send me the link. Talk about how you think the internet helps or hinders the expression of queer identity. Talk about coming out via the internet. Talk about hooking up over the internet. Talk about queer internet community. Talk about whatever you want involving queerness and the internet. Be creative. Go on forever or just give me a minute or two of your insight. If you wanna talk about something in particular but aren't sure it's what I'm looking for just message me and run it by. I'm not looking for anything specific though, I'm just really excited to see what comes. I'll be posing this challenge to not online my friends but to other queer internet spaces in hopes to get responses from all kinds of people all over. I'll let you see the finished result if I can get your help!

Are you in? Say yes please!

THIS SUNDAY: Queer/gay/bi FTM group at Center on Halsted
Hey guys, we're having our second meeting THIS SUNDAY. Last time we had 5 people and a nice chill introductions and discussion. This week the topic is how to articulate what we want (and how to communicate that to potential dates). There might be some writing of sample craigslist ads as part of the demonstration!

    Sunday, October 19th
    2 pm
    Center on Halsted
    www.centeronhalsted.org

This group is open to all transguys, whether you are non-, pre-, mid-
or post-physical transitioning. Its also open all sexualities,
whether you've always been gay-identified and interested in men or
whether you've never even thought about sex with a guy until recently.
It will just be a casual group discussion, and I'll come with topic
ideas, but I defer to what the group who comes wants to talk about.
Disclosure tips, dating disasters, fears and concerns, helpful
suggestions on finding dates, safe ways to play, open relationships,
    and more.

Center on Halsted is sponsoring us with a room for the first few
months, to see if interest in the group sustains itself, but please
bring a few dollars to chip in a donation when we pass the hat, if you
can. We will make introductions, talk and hang out for an
hour, and then if people want to go out afterwards, we're right Boys Town.

If you can't make it on the 19th, the next group meeting will be Sunday, November 16th, 2pm. After that, we'll determine if there's enough interest to sustain the group.

Please feel free to spread the word off this list!!

    2 pm
    Center on Halsted

I have my intake appointment with Linda Wesp on 8/12. For those of you who have been or currently are her patients, how long of a wait was it between when you got your labs done and your first shot?

I'm just throwing this current info out there for dudes 24 and younger: there is currently no waiting list for 'youth' new patient appointments. I scheduled mine last week and the first open appointment was in less than a month. So if you want to get in to see her, schedule your appointment asap.

Also, Linda doesn't require a therapists letter to start T. She does both the letter and informed consent. I'm seeing her on the informed consent model.

    **SPECIAL EDITION OF GENDERWORK**

The next GenderWork meeting will feature guest speaker Lisa Katona, LCSW.

Lisa is Patient Navigator with LCCP and Howard Brown Health Center and will be joining us for the evening to talk about transgender healthcare and answer your questions.

Your health is just as important as everyone else's.  If you are transgender, institutional and individual barriers can make medical services difficult to access. LCCP is committed to working with and on behalf of the transgender community. Howard Brown Health Center now provides services for transgender individuals to receive free chest/breast and cervical cancer screenings and treatment in a safe, sensitive environment. This program covers individuals who are either uninsured, or not covered for this type of care due to the limitations of their existing insurance based on gender.  If you have it, it needs to get checked!

Call Howard Brown today to schedule a free screening: 773/572-6981.

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young. GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFE campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at: www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student

Chicago I'm back home and need HELP!!!!!!

Hi my name is Gin I just turned 19 last month. I am a stud, butch, dom whichever one is the male in a lesbian relationship. I have been doing some research and I know that I am finally ready to start my FTM transition. I just moved back to Chicago after being gone for four years so I lost to the gay community is Chicago. I was wondering if anybody knows any good spots to get a therapist referral to start testosterone. I have no insurance and currently unemployed which means I have no way of paying for anything at the moment. I was wondering if anybody could give me some solid info about how to get insurance ( the kind that pays for my theraphy, testosterone, and chest surgery). Also where are the gay clubs and other places that aren't so damn homophobic. I am also looking for friends and possible a girlfriend ( a fem that 's a lesbian not bi)

    Thanks in advance
