Few pieces of information I've heard listening to the radio today.
Hoffpaur is supposed to be called up for either Hart or Cotts.
After Houston we go to Arizona for 3, where we will miss both Webb and Haren, which is huge and makes it a lot more likely to come out with a winning road trip.

This is pretty awesome. It'll be cold, and everyone will be massively hung over, but it'll be fun.

I'm taking some Wilton cake classes this month, and our teacher this week had us bring in a design we wanted to do and test out some different styles.
Of course, Cubbies were the first thing that popped into my head.

I'd share with you guys.. But sadly it won't fit through the CD slot.

I went to the All Star Parade today and thought some might be interested. So I've compiled this Giant Ass Post. Note before you read: I was in fangirl mode this afternoon. It's hard not to be when you've had my week thus far. Complaints about girliness should be checked at the door :D
(xposted from cajun_chick411) ( NOW for the 2008 All Star Parade. )
I skipped over Hall of Fame descriptions, but EVERYONE was there. All the notable Cubbies (Fergie Jenkins and I had a substantial chat which started with him asking me how much longer they were going to make him ride in the back of that car) and people like Hank Aaron and Cal Ripkin Jr. Yogi Bera. The usual suspects. You'll see in the pictures which are ( Under this Cut! )
So, I thought I was going to get heatstroke, but it was worth it in the end! And, yay! My dad just got home. Baseball is mine, my precious. (I was hoping to get my jersey signed, but this does just fine :D)

| Day of Game Tickets |
[15 Jul 2008|02:39pm] |
Is the break over yet? I'm ready for more Cubs baseball.
Still it'll be nice to actually care about the All Star game tonight for once.
Anyway that's not the reason I'm posting. There was a policy change last weekend with day of game tickets. I spent hours both days dealing with it. I know there are a few people here who take advantage of those tickets so I figured I'd pass the word along.
First of all the day of game windows were moved to the windows on Addison. The new policy is that you can only buy one ticket a person. After you have bought the ticket you have to go into the ball park immediately. If it's before the gates open you go into that outdoor patio area and wait for them to open. They have a concession area open and such.
This IS an inconvenience to people who show up early and want to do something later, but it also has advantages. Scalpers pretty much can't get the day of game tickets anymore. Both days we ended up selling out of Standing room and tickets released that day, but not until the third inning or so. So following that trend you can show up much closer to game time and still get tickets.
As far as I know this went over fairly well and will probably be a permanent change. I think it's for the best in the long run, but I figured I'd let people here know because it'd suck to get up early and wait in line only to have it totally ruin plans and such.

| Wordle is Fun! EDIT: Ben Sheets Named Starter for NL |
[14 Jul 2008|01:35pm] |
|
A good way to kill time. You can make fun word art...such as out of Cub things! Although I haven't figured out how to make it accept groups of words. I was trying to get "Kid K" (and other multi-word terms) in there, but it insisted upon splitting it up.

EDIT: Looks like Sheets of the Brewers was just picked to be the starter for the NL. At first I was feeling miffed, but then quickly realized...hey, it's one more opportunity for him to tire out his almost Prior-like arm for the second half of the season. There's a silver lining in everything, right? Just so long as he pitches well in this thing...PLEASE WIN IT, NL.

CHICAGO CUBS!!!
Trying to keep Demp's home winning streak alive, as well as the possibility for a sweep. Off a crazed day yesterday where Harden's amazing Wrigley-debut was dampened by well, you know. Marmol has been subbed in for Wood on the AS lineup as the latter has a blister. Anyone else doubting Dempster will pitch in the ASG because he's going to day?
