Something to do

[info]iamwhee
So I'm not sure who's into the Boystown scene at all, or who generally likes to go out to shows, but I'm sorta an addict when it comes to theaters and such. Just thought I'd post this, see how'd be interested in going.

They normally play Rocky Horror every month. I haven't gone yet, but really want to. Music Box plays pretty solid things. They are also hosting this too:

Tommy Gun's?

[info]meryddian
Ok, I know a small group (about 6-8) group of adults in their 50s/60s are thinking about going to Tommy Gun's when they're here in Chicago later this year.

1. Has anybody been to this and if so, what did you think?
2. How safe is the neighborhood? Could they safely ride the El there or if they really want to go, should they take a taxi from downtown instead? (Keep in mind these folks are not familiar with Chicago).

wicked tickets

[info]splashdance1
Alright, I tried searching in the memories section and I couldn't find anything, but I feel like this issue has been posted before. I apologize for any repeats, and also for X-posting.

Does anyone have any idea if it's possible to rush tickets for Wicked? Have you had any success and what were the ticket prices like? I know a lot of musicals/shows offer last minute rush tickets for amazing seats and a discounted price, but some don't. If rush tickets are not available, any suggestions for where and how to get some nicely legit, discounted tickets?
Can you help?

Thanks!

Theatre production recommendations?

[info]meryddian
My mother is coming to town Thanksgiving week, and I'd like to take her out to a few shows. I've already taken her to see Cupid Has A Heart On over at the IO, and I will probably take her to see Between Barack and a Hard Place over at Second City, and/or get tickets for Wicked or Phantom of the Opera, or the CPS production of Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare on the Pier.

What've you seen that's good, or know of any decent upcoming productions? Has anybody seen Steppenwolf's The Crucible?

Any other recommendations?
