54th-O'Hare
The last Douglas-O'Hare trips were made yesterday. There is no more Blue Line service to 54th and no in-service trains now operate over the ramp for the first time since 1958.

I'm somewhat surprised that no one has said anything about this yet.

I thought the pink line took that over? I heard that they were shutting down the blue line rush that followed the pink line, but not that there would be unserviced areas.

Thats the truth...

Frankly, I don't think any of the blue line riders like myself really cared... In fact, one trip had Ron Huberman say there was only 8 riders in the train at the time from one of the days of the connection.

If only there was a Blue Line/Pink Line stop at Wood/Madison, maybe I would have cared... But there isn't one now and I just go to Illinois Med Center to stop, so meh.

I've been on Brown Line trains with fewer than eight people. If that's Hubie's metric, he's got some 'splaining to do.

No he doesn't. 8 riders on an 8-car train during rush hour? There is a serious problem. When did you see Brown Line trains with fewer than 8 people? Because during rush hour I have issues attempting to board Brown Line trains.

They did.

For the life of me I don't know why they ever ran it at all. If the community groups in that area weren't led by morons to begin with, the CTA could have saved the money on running that redundant, inconvenient and virtually unused routing while also running Pink Line service. There are multiple individual stations on the Red Line that have more passengers than ride the entire Pink Line - running two separate routes on such a lightly-served branch was a waste of resources and they only did it to shut up some loud, influential, idiots from the areas along the Pink Line.

Mostly because there was demand among people who lived on the Cermak branch, especially people who were employed by University of Illinois at Chicago

A couple hundred people a day doesn't really qualify as "demand" in my book. :-)
